I'm so glad the ridiculous juries are gone. Hopefully the BAFTA members do the right thing and vote based on merit and not give undeserved token nominations to minorites.

    I’m confused
“The long list is 10 names, the jury picks 3, and the short list is the nominees” what?
So the long list is 10 names, the jury then picks 3 names (for which they say is quality reasons, but we all know it is for DEI reasons because they don’t believe merit should be the priority), and then from the remaining 7 there’s a vote to get it down to 3 to make up the 6, and then all members vote for who wins.
Please if I’m wrong correct me.
I’m certainly not wrong that that is an overly convoluted and ridiculous system; and somewhat amusing that they used to wear their DEI like a badge of honour, and now they try to hide it in the shadows.

And how many is there in the long list for directors (you didn’t say) if it’s 10 and there’s gender parity 5men 5women, and if there’s 6 nominations, then again it’s another ‘back door’ DEI process.
BAFTA had eluded that they were returning to merit based voting, but it seems it’s their same ambition of non-merit based DEI nonsense, just dressed up differently.
    What a shame.
