      Everywhere you go, my advice is : Don't buy a sim card from the airport.
      Before you go somewhere, check some informations on Google. There you find everything you need to know.
      In most cases you will pay the double price. Same thing with the Atm cash machine. Never withdraw money from there (it's the same if you find yourself in a city centre) use only the high street banks of the country you're visiting.

    My phone that's from Google Project Fi, which switches networks as needed (I live in a rural area now), offers international service for both phone and data at the same price as here at home, just turn on international roaming and it's no extra charge. Another traveler on the Rick Steves' travel forum confirmed that it DID work for her. I plan to test it out in April, fingers crossed.

    On my opinion if you are not from EU - buy local SIM, e.g. 3 or EE.
    Sad that EE does not work in the tube.
    I do not know why but Virgin free wi-fi does not work for me.

    • @NeverMetTheGuy

      3 offers underground wifi, you just need to register with your my3 account.

    Hi Jess, I've already ordered the GiffGaff SIM card but wanted to know if it can be also used in other European countries as well? Also does it allow data tethering so I can use my phone as a mobile hotspot? Thanks!

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it can and I don't know what's going to happen with European roaming so best to ask Giffgaff what charges will be like for the EU. Data tethering usually depends on the SIM so I'm afraid I can't help with that!

      Dr Pepper has been illegal since 2006 because of the discovery it's UK shareholders were caught money laundering for Jamaican yeast farmers.
      If you are a smoker you can go outside with your beer only on the provision you leave your contact details with the local PUPS, Pub Utilisation Party Social, which is a government body who regulate the industry.

    Well today i got to know what does locked and unlocked phones means by searching on the internet, as i am from India so here in India network provider brands doesn't sell the phones and so therefore there is no terminology as locked phones in India cause all phones in India are unlocked only.
    Well it basically means Indians don't have to worry about their phones being locked. In India, i would say 99 percent people don't know what does a phone locked by provider even means. We Indians only purchased smartphones either by cash or emi by bank.
    And also internet is cheapest in India in the entire Earth.

    If you're going anywhere from the US for a short period of time, I would highly suggest GoogleFi. I've used it in Saudi Arabia for 15 days and now in London for about a week and you could get either their flexible plan if you don't plan on using too much data which is $20/mo or the unlimited plan for $70/mo which gives you 22GB of data (which is also what many carrier's Unlimited plan maxes out at anyways. *coughs AT&T) plus unlimited calling and texting.

    Hi Jess: I am not into technology, but I am studying in the UK for 1 year. I have Google Voice and from what I understand, I need to port my phone # to Google Voice 1 day prior to leaving. My phone is unlocked. Then it was suggested that I sign up for Skype for $39 annual fee. I have a Giff Gaff SIM Card coming and will activate it once I get ready to leave the US. Then I can communicate with family (they too are not tech savvy) via Skype. Is that a good option?

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get to Giffgaff card you don't need to do any of those other steps! You just change your SIM out to the new one and then use that number from then on.
