Happens with everything from Blind Guardian, they have that unique style that is always out of the mainstream heavy metal movement. They are loved by many but not the cup of others.
I've always said that while 'Nightfall in Middle-Earth' is arguably their best and most creative effort, I've always believed 'Somewhere Far Beyond' is the DEFINITIVE Blind Guardian album that embraces the thrashier speed metal origins and the power metal epicness they would embrace.
For me is that he will always find ways to go to any place and find accessibility. Advocating for blind people is important. He's is de guardian of the blind
I actually quite like when bands do this. For me it's really interesting to see how they interpret their own songs years later with all the wisdom and experience behind them. These projects might not always turn out great, but I'm always curious to hear them.
Yeah, a lot of people don't like re-recordings, but I think when they're done right and not just a cash-grab, it is like a different flavor of the album. I thought "Time What Is Time" and "Journey Through the Dark" were a little weaker than the original, but all the other songs were cool hearing a fuller, thicker sound. The middle of the album improved a bit over the originals in my opinion.
My forever favorite Blind Guardian album, a power metal classic in the history books alongside Helloween Keepers pt 1 and 2, Gamma Ray- Land of the Free, Stratovarius- Visions, Grave Digger- Tunes of War, Hammerfall- Legacy of Kings, and others.
Legacy of the Kings from Hammerfall??? Jesus Christ, look at your ears my friend!! Glory to the Brave of course!! No doubt about it. Also Stratovarius have better albums than Visions, like Dreamspace, Episode and Fourth Dimension But ok these ones are all very close among them.. But Glory to the Brave is far away better than anything else from Hammerfall..
Amazingly done! And here I was thinking "wow can't wait to hear the new version of Somewhere far beyond, but wait, there's also The Bard's Song The Hobbit, Time what is time, journey through the dark, Theatre of pain..." This is going to be epic!!!
Love this! It was great to see some shots of Thomen in the older footage. That put a smile my face. Just shows you guys still respect his history in the band.
But how does it sounds even better after 32 years… BG are just too good! Maybe the only re-recording so far in my life that I love better than the original! And these vocals of Hansi in the beginning❤❤❤ Why is he not using this technique/singing this way more often😮 Already ordered the album!
@@robinanwaldtno, it’s not. It’s just too close and too good. It is re-recorded - or at least 90% of the stuff :) Was listening to this song for years and years, so I have a sensitive ear, ahah. The chorus is remixed though and quite amazed how good it blends with the new sound. Nowadays productions/mixings can make miracles❤ P.S You can’t be serious about the opening track - everything in it is different - the pronouncement, the push in the words, for example “wAIting for me” and the maturity and vibrato in the voice :) Really surprised that you can’t make the difference even with unarmed ear. And yes, the new recording is better.
First I was like: do we really need a rerecording of somewhere far beyond? And then I heard hansi sing and the way he sounds here blew my mind… I really love this new version ❤
I'm very happy that they decided to dedicate a video to this song! "Somewhere far beyond" was my first Blind Guardian album and will always be my favorite album (very, very closely followed by "Imaginations..."). "Quest for Tanelorn" was one of my absolute favorites from the beginning and I always had the feeling that this song didn't get the level of popularity it deserved.
Spectacular!!! This is one of the first songs I ever heard from Blind Guardian where I knew I had finally found the sound I was searching for. When that first divine choir chorus kicked in, I was a fan for life! This is absolutely the perfect song from the back catalogue to polish up with a brand new recording! The heroes of this tragic tale may be long gone, but Blind Guardian has never lost their way!

I listen to this New revisited of this amazing and respectfully Metal hymn called The Quest for Tanelorn... wow... it brings me so Many memories in the middle of 90's when me and metalheads Friends and really that's incredible for me... the New recording is brutal... Somewhere Far Beyond is inside my Top 10 of Best Metal Albums over the Earth, I compare this album with the same level Like Metal classics albums such Painkiller from Judas, Rust un Peace from Megadeth, The Number of the Beast from Maiden and over all, the amazing Master Of Puppets from Metallica...
Somewhere Far Beyond is one of the most important albums for me. Man, how I loved it when it was released. So many nostalgic feelings. The Quest for Tanelorn has always been one of my faves (besides Somewhere Far Beyond and Theatre of Pain). But to be honest this revisted version does not sound "right" for me. Production is great, but it does not carry the spirit of those good old days. A fantastic song and for new fans surely a great thing, but man, I prefer listening to the original stuff. Rock on!
Yes, it's technically improved, it's probably on a higher level - but in the original you just feel Hansi's hunger and anger in the voice and that's what captured me back in 1996 when I first heard this album. The new version doesn't have it, you just re-create that feel, it's a certain moment in time. To me.... ok, this was basically the last BG album I loved completely from start to finish but re-recording albums like Twisted Sister or whoever... I don't get it, sorry.
When I was a kid, I used to say that the only thing that made me glad I was living in this age was Star Wars. The film became part of my identity, and without it I would have been a completely different person. A few months ago I realised that there was another thing that had the same effect on me: the Blind Guardian. I watch this video and I feel heartbroken. The black-and-white imagery, the way I see the old happy pictures side by side with the serious faces of today... I don't know whether I feel more sorry for them or for myself that time has passed. What I do know is that once this band or one of its members is gone, the world will be a worse place, a lesser place.
@@StygianSaviour they said the And Then There Was Silence rerecording was a full rerecording too which was also a lie. The instrumental track, guitar tones etc are clearly the original remixed.
Actually, there is no need for a re-recording since there is already a remixed re-release version of the album available. However, nice to have it now with a much thicker production, more defined sounding and vocals put more to the foreground 🤘🎤🎶
@@robinanwaldt it is not the same, the vocals do not sound as good. Fine, but not as the original. same with instruments, its like a cheap version of a better song.
