I bought an oil tester similar to yours, with the same red colour and with the same buttons. In teh first begining it worked in a very bad manner, without doing the calibration in the begining. The measure of a used oil but still good, was in the yellow light zone.It indicates the yellow zone even without putting any oil in the sensor. But after several trials began to work in a correct mode.It calibrates and indicates the red colour 5. Them I tried with two new oils and it indicated in both cases the red light 1, right for new oils. it seemed to have in the begining a electronis problem but with a constant use the electronics were fixed and began doing a very good job. I`m very satisfied now.
@@Schreibtisch1 Hi . The oil tester went for the trash for continuos false readings. But mine, had no brand and was bought in Amazon. The look is similar but with no brand. I mada a return of the product for Amazon store but they d`ont had returned my money back. Sorry...
Interesting... Looking at the sensor pad all I can imagine is that it's doing some sort of resistance check on the oil... which if you have lots of moisture or conductive particles of soot or metal in the oil will make it read worse. Possibly the reason why it has a diesel setting, diesels soot up the oil quite heavily. Does it show better results when you test your oil on diesel?
Very likely. I read somewhere that it mostly make its assessment based on the acidity. But you might be right also. Check out my follow-up - Part Two :)
when I used a similar tester it said in the instructions to just put enough oil to cover the circle. I put very small amount and let it stand. the old would thin out and I believe it did not take much. From your video it looks like you have a puddle of oil. Convex in shape. That maybe why you have different test results
This device is very sensetive. The oillevel shoud have no Depression and the same Temperatur. Less oil better messurements. Maybe your Ventilator makes problems by calibration. You try to calibrate it manually?
this device was design nor a diesel cars oil check as you know diesel oil will turn dark the next day after replacement - the accuracy of this device is not good
changing oil does not do anything unless the Oil Prticle filter is changed.... oil filter always keep an amount of oil in it ranging from 150gr to 350g aprox. mixing new oil and bad oil from filter will definetly change the result of the measurement! -Remember- Oil change must always be in the style of drain... replacing oil filter then adding some new oil from the top of the engine till shiny new oil comes from the carter! .. wrench up the carter and fill all the way with brand new oil! ;) With Friendly Regars -Dell GR
themanshere74 You cannot judge engine oil on the color this is a misconception. I have the Blackstone report saying that the oil is easily good for a 10000km interval.
WRONG ANSER! YES, YOU CAN JUDGE OIL BY IT'S COLOR. AND IF YOUR OIL IS BLACK AFTER ONLY1000KM, THEN YOU GOT ENGINE PROBLEMS MY FRIEND. I MEAN GOOD GREEF, EVEN A OLD 1970'S SMOG ENGINE DOES BETTER THAN THAT! CHECK YOUR TIMING AND REPLACE YOUR OXEGEN SENSORS AND CLEAN OUT YOUR INTAKE AND CATS. IF YOU ARE GETTING FACTOR SPEC ON YOUR MPG, THEN YOUR CATS ARE OKAY.

Thanks for your review, can you please tell me what the "gas button" is for?

Where are the Blackstone results?
I stopped using the gauge long time ago as I found it being to inconsistent. So unfortunately no Blackstone reports to prove the function.
If the tester was made in China I’d bin it. Imo the only good thing to come out of China is the United Airlines flight to New York!
LOOOOL I would tend to agree :D

Agreed. I just did my oil change again and measuring the oil three times I get very inconsistent results. I am not using it anymore.

Your engine oil is too black. Change your engine oil at 5000km.
