I like both Peter Ustinov and Albert Finney's versions of Poirot and despite his bizarre take on the character's signature mustache, I'm also really enjoying Kenneth Branaugh's version but at the end of the day, David Suchet's legendary portrayal of Hercule Poirot will always be the definitive version of Agatha Christie's famed Belgian super-sleuth✌
+Lmsln i think it's because the later movies were more serious and this theme is kinda entertaining, it's made for the first seasons where the episodes have a lot of fun.however, some of the themes of the later movies have a little accent of this melody
This TV series has accompanied me all my life and I still enjoy it. It is great thank to the genius David Suchet (and Fraser, Moran & Jackson too). Without them, it would be just an ordinary serial, n'est ce-pas, mon ami? Poirot in good, Poirot in bad, Poirot forever.
Im 13 currently, I remember waking in the morning at 6am because I heard this theme song. My dad never understood that at that (time I was 8) instead of watching children shows I watched this but this is the best mystery show ever.
This is one of the things i miss from the modern Poirot's, iconic theme song with the beautiful art deco styled animation that is like a vivid dream sequence from the past.
I used to watch this every weekday, during my blissful year on the dole after graduation. Happy days..... Now I'm an English teacher that never fails to name drop Poirot. I use Poirot's guile and resourcefulness to avoid repaying any of my student debt.
De der de der de der It's Poirot it's Poirot...he's here again he's going to save the day agaaaaain.....is what I sing to myself when I hear this theme tune 🎶
I remember listening to this every afternoon, drinking tea, and blasting this throughout my house all the time :) I love this so much! I dont really like the remakes though the only other Poroit I'll accept besides the original is Kenneth Branagh and that's it 😂😊👌
0:23 is an awesome shot: the Battersea Power Station, with an ocean liner (perhaps the iconically Art Deco SS Normandie?), biplane, and a London and North Eastern Railway class A4 steam locomotive. All icons of progress and technology in the 1930s. Together with the music, the feeling is one of society rushing forward into a new and dangerous age…
I can't believe it lasted that long; but I'm very glad it did. I heard Agatha Christie's family hand picked David Suchet to play her creation and they picked well!
I'd like to have seen a young Hercule Poirot make a crossover with Sherlock Holmes to assist with the Jack the Ripper murders as one of Poirots first cases. Would have made for a great episode or short TV film.
To by knowledge, every broadcasted television spisode and film of Poirot is an adaptation of a book written by Agatha Christie. So its very unlikely the Christie estate would allow, essentially, a fan fic. Never say never though.
I still remember how I used to pet my moms hair for money while we were watching this xd I don't care if you guys think it's cringe, it was for money, and money is epic.
Please let me educate you on a bit of history. They weren't trying to make fluid Disney animation. The Poirot television series started in 1989 and ended in 2013. The intro was made in 1920's, Art Deco style. That was the whole point of this 'choppy' cubism like animation. It was exclusively a stylistic choice. 1) ih1.redbubble.net/image.372257482.5911/mwo,x1000,ipad_2_snap-pad,750x1000,f8f8f8.jpg 2) ih1.redbubble.net/image.741458891.4340/mwo,x1000,ipad_2_snap-pad,1000x1000,f8f8f8.u1.jpg 3) images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71VL2xp2LKL.jpg 4) www.streetsidebc.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Art-Deco-800x533.jpg 5) ctl.s6img.com/society6/img/QstuDjH91JihJHOwkZ2b1dcU7_U/w_1500/prints/~artwork/s6-original-art-uploads/society6/uploads/misc/0e03e99d51c54526b235f9126cffca43/~~/art-deco-style-painting-prints.jpg
Art Deco will forever be my favourite art style.
I don’t particularly like Art Deco in general, but it works incredibly well with and for this intro. I love it
Without any doubts
@@ericpraline This and the Jeeves and Wooster intro

This brings back so many memories of childhood...thanks for sharing! such a good show. Suchet is a Legend!
Sunday evenings in mid-winter, one last blast of freedom before going off to bed with school the following morning.
Never expected to find the one and only TGV in the comments of the Poriot intro, but I suppose I should check out some watch videos after this now.
I've seen this on pbs when I was small.
"My dear Chief Inspector Japp, you are thinking again and we've discussed this"
My little grey cell's tells me it was not an accident but murder.
Lol...
Mon Ami :)

Love this show so much. This opening was amazing, I'm kinda sad that they removed it in the later movies.

Actually l thought there was more "art nouveau" style in the opening sequence. Maybe later in the seasons? I love the style ❤️
This theme was so much "art decò" and was not right anymore with the time period of the last movies
Worlds greatest intro!!
I miss those times of Poirot and David Suchet was POIROT! Great casting.
My childhood flashes in front of my eyes. Thanks a ton for the upload

I remember my dad and I camping and we put this on in the cabin at night, childhood.
I absolutely love this theme music and fantastic TV series! There is only one man to watch as Hercule Poirot, and his name is David Suchet!!
Mannnnnn, I can't tell you how many times I've listened/seen this intro in my childhood!
Still remember when i watched this after school Everyday when i was home alone good old times nostalgia
This is the best opening ever! Wonderful music and art! So many good and kind memorys from childhood. And Hercule Poirot was my first love 😁😁
Im 13 currently, I remember waking in the morning at 6am because I heard this theme song. My dad never understood that at that (time I was 8) instead of watching children shows I watched this but this is the best mystery show ever.
There's something about this music - especially the end part that really sends chills down my spine and back up again
I used to love this show as a kid. :)
me too.
Used to?
can anyone relate i first liked it cuz of the song
J'ADORE l'acteur David Suchet .....magnifique dans le personnage de Poirot et aussi dans la vie... mais il est 1 fruit interdit,hèlas! ;-) Ena

This show is so good. I used to watch it with my parents all the time and I certainly enjoyed every minute of it.

Art Deco level = over 9000!
Great video
Pat Gavin's titles are still a class act to this day. Timeless.
La mejor pieza audiovisual que he visto en mis 15 años de vida, muchas gracias, Poirot

A quarter of century as this legendary icon.
Thank you David Suchet!

Yes
I can't believe it lasted that long; but I'm very glad it did. I heard Agatha Christie's family hand picked David Suchet to play her creation and they picked well!
Well, the lady herself said she hoped Joan Hickson would be selected to play Miss Marple, and it happened!

Poirot would not be able to catch the Ripper. His grey little cells would be powerless against those vicious, sensless crimes.
@@alexander9703 Yet there have been two Poirot video games made in recent years that are new works - not based on anything Christie wrote.

Magical childhood memories of this highly artistic intro...
Well I am 16 years old I love this show
I could never skip this intro.
Because of those series, I read now all Agatha Christie's books. The best novels ever! And series too!

Amo este programa mi mama me envicio a esta serie, en tv familia 🥰🥰🥰🥰
As soon as i saw this intro i knew i had to watch it.
If remade with the same things but a bit higher res, nothing would EVER beat a sweet art deco intro
Even then you can't really beat this...
