Thanks to your channel I now know there is an Amiga 3000 UX, I will look online to find out what makes this different from the original A3000, that is on top of what you have already told us in this video. Amiga, the Survivor, with a little help from her friends. Take care. 🙂
@ChrisEdwardsRestoration I've had TD's for many years. This one is a personal record breaker in terms of MPG. The DSG auto box coupled with now very clever software running it on the Mk8 Golf GTD has made all the difference. 60mpg is very easily achieved. The 77mpg took a lot of very easy going!
here in murica were restricted because big oil help the cars sold in america to optimize their engines, hence keep them from really truely being fuel efficient
1:20 - "This is literally in pieces." Back in '91, I had two A2000s that I had bought from a couple of other OVAUG members that were "cleaning house" for an upcoming move. These days, I cannot open mine without something breaking. No doubt because of age... Now, I'm developing an emulation version of what my "dream" machine would have been. Thanx for all you do; keep it up! Dr Chris, have you ever thought about house calls? :)
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration My comment linking Schokakola literally got removed instantly. Anyway, it never contained what you thought it did and yes you can still get it.
Hey Chris, Just wanted to brag.... Saw you have an Ionic 5. Well, I am not the PROUD owner of a 5N. As always love your videos and Proud Commodore owner and user here. Best of luck in all you do.
I get my annual shipment of Scho-ka-kola via Finland (to Australia) but now timed carefully not to melt on the tarmac in Leipzig when airfreighted. The dark chocolate one (red tins) isn't sweet. There's a bit of caffeine in it but not as much as in a strong coffee. It's the other goodies in there that give a bit of a boost. Similar to other proper chocolate
yup, camera power cord is broken on the camera side so i wedged a piece of cardboard in the hole to support the plug and when i touch it i bump the power cord and it buzzes. POS camera. one day I will get a new one
You could absolutely get the coil packs cheaper, they're probably common between other cars, they also are probably worth bugger all in reality. 125k miles shouldn't be a problem for anything these days, kinda surprised to hear you're already on another engine, what happened to the first? Kinda surprised to hear what sorta MPG you're getting
there was a issue finally a Hyundai/kia warranty coverage for a defect in the oiling system of the 2.0 GDI engine. the machining left metal bits inside a critical passageway that eventually clog or release causing the rod bearings to blow out. mine blew up at 61K miles,
I decided long ago to stay away from anything A3000-related. I consider it the worst troublemaker of C=. I even built an ATX psu conversion, with replica casing etc to replace the original one, but the darn machine kept creating trouble. So off she went! Sold everything..
Yikes. Durty Gurty. Chris, buy a hand pump sprayer & douche those boards with distilled water minus the socketed chips. I never understood the point of UNIX on an Amiga seeing Commodore nor any existing developer made any Amiga specific UNIX software, so you have the OS that can only run a text editor to write code and a compiler. Now, decades later with UNIX dead, LINUX tried to build on that but failed finding itself in the same corner with Apple (limited applications, nonexistent device drivers, etc) all while in the end, the most hated despised platform Windows surpassed them all in terms of overall functionality and usability.
Whatever unix can run you can run. Now this is just to make it what it was. I still need to get its rtg card or mess w the picasso2 settings for it but all in good time
so you dont know the history and the Workstation craze then. In mid 80s when Sun got very popular as a maker of workstations based on MC68k family, it turned out it is a great business with great profits, since a workstation worth of 10-30k could replace a minicomputer worth of over 100k. And the margin was huge for Sun using Motorola chips. So Apple, ATARI and yes Commodore (meetoo) decided they want a piece of this pie so they started to develop their own MC68k family Unix workstations. The problem is that in the time they were somewhat finished (actually Apple was the rest was kinda beta) in 1988-89, the workstation audience stepped up the game and moved to RISC based CPUs like MIPS which had much much higher computing power then MC68030, end of dream... And yes, basically all that ran on AT&T Unix workstations or any other Unix V workstations based on MC68k CPU can run onA3000UX out of the box, or you can compile the source to run on it if its Unix V compliant.
Awesome loving this series

I am glad to se another of this awesome Amigas 3000.And 3000 Ux is very special machine and pure proof of Amiga power. Good luck with restoration.
So glad to see this machine being brought back to life! 👍🙂
On a gentle 95 mile run a few weeks back my 2023 Golf GTD got 77mpg. I was amazed.
wow those turbo diesel get great fuel milage

Not the or now the proud owner? Super fast and fun but not really good for long range.

Yeah Scho-Ka-Kola was meant for drivers / truckers to keep them awake on the Autobahn. it’s still available
I have a old tin of it I found and should see in videos now and then
28:16 ADF written successfully, i somewhat expected that "boioioing" sound from X-copy. :D

I don’t really know I would have to pause the video and look at the size
