Thank you for doing this. They all are great musicians. They all contribute in writing the music and lyrics. The keyboard player Coen however does most of orchestral compositions. They have great lyrics to all their music. I will send you the lyrics by email. Listening to music like this sounds way better with headphones, regardless of the quality of your sound system. Enjoy your licorice.
I think it's a matter of personal taste, and probably the quality of headphones and/or speakers. I have really good headphones, but I prefer using my 5.1 speaker system.
@@chriso6719 Yes, I had a good Kenwood system with great celestion speakers, but I gave it to my nephews. And never replaced it for a good one. And of course it depends on the quality of the headphones as well.
It depends. I custom built a tri-amped speaker system with Dynaudio components. I have an 8 woofer IB subwoofer system using the 15" AE IB units back by 4kW just for the woofers. It is completely enveloping. When that bass drum hits you are there, to say the least. Utter teleportation to another world. Magnificent piece.
One of my favorite songs ever .. The quality, the voice, the message, the emotions, the composition, the goose bumps .. It is already a feat to have a 10 second break and start in a perfect sync with 6 band member .. add to that a whole orchestra and this is pure perfection
Excellent song. More proof Frank has great taste. Production was amazing, vocals provided a good contrast, drummer absolutely killed it. Whoever arranges Epica's light display is a genius. Need to look up the lyrics, I still cannot understand Simone's or Mark's pronunciation. Great reaction, stay safe, God Bless, keep rocking.

Everything from their 10 year Retrospect concert was amazing this is one of the highlights along with 2 songs that Floor Jansen and Simone sang together
Mark Jansen, the growler! If Tuomas is the metal Mozart, Mark is the metal Beethoven! He composes everything, not only the metal instruments! Time for ballads! Greetings from Greece!
I'm agree about genius of Mark but what you said is not completely true, yes Mark is the main composer in terms of metal and structure of the song and concept of the albums but Coen Janssen is the main composer for the Orchestral arrangements, and Simone and Mark often divide the credits for the lyrics
Title track to the 4th album from 2009. Lyrics by Mark Jansen. Music by Mark, Isaac Delahaye(guitar), and Coen Janssen(keyboards) Here at the Retrospect 10th anniversary show, it was song #22 of 24, in a 3 hour concert . I think we told you when you did Sancta Terra, the song right before this one, that Simone was about 3 months pregnant. Don't tell them to get a new Dig-o-meter, tell them to upgrade to a deluxe version, maybe one that goes up to 100, or 1000, instead of just 10.🤣🤣
Yep,...Epica is EPIC 😁🤘!!!! This song is just Massive Wall of sound, and from excellent album also! But this retrospect show was night to remember 🤘❤🔥🤘!!! Thank you for this reaction, and...Frank, you are The Man 🤘!!! NWSU/Epican 🤘😎🤘
Thanks for the reaction! This is one of my favorite Epica songs and witnessing it live gives you even more goosebumps! Hope to see more of Epica on your channel soon! A recommendation that I leave you is the opening of this concert with the song "Monopoly on Truth" 🤘🏻
Your reaction to this and has not only anepic guitar solo there's a surprise also in Kingdom of Heaven part 3 by the Keyboardist it is gonna blow your mind like this song did it's just as amazing if not more so.
Just a monumental performance, spectacular. The entire 3 hour show was magical. Epica son’t do a lot of guitar solos but for a great guitar solo from the same Retrospect show try the similarly epic Divine Conspiracy… th-cam.com/video/a0TvrtinRWU/w-d-xo.html Or there is the shorter, fast-paced Martyr of the Free Word… th-cam.com/video/eZukHI1v6PY/w-d-xo.html

@@jamesnelson1968 I would disagree, but it was impressive. The production was amazing, but that is primarily a matter of money to hire the right people. As far as the musicianship, Epica is near the top but they are not any better than other premier bands, and even some not so well-known bands. It is all a matter of taste. BTW, I have seen Epica in concert in a small venue. They are quite good even without the over-the-top production. To me, that is the true test.
@@alancarter41 And I disagree with you, I have been around for a long time and have seen many of the top rated, in terms of popularity, bands over the years. Most of the live performances have sucked in terms of the actual music played. Most recorded music sold has been massaged so much in production that the sound exceeds the actual abilities of the band to perform it live. To find a band that can reproduce their sound in a live arena is a rare thing.
@@jamesnelson1968 I agree with your comment on modern music and the fact technical innovations make even bad singers and musicians sound acceptable if not great. However, there are a lot of bands who are excellent and bring it large when performing live. Besides Epica that would include (but not limit to) Sabaton, Visions of Atlantis, Nightwish, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, Iron Maiden, Leaves' Eyes, Symphony X, Unleash the Archers, and several of the Japanese girl bands (who I do not care for BTW). Sadly, the only American bands I can think of are Metalica and Manowar. I have also been around a long time, and basically gave up on music for more than a decade until my son gave me a CD of Manowar, Hammerfall, and a few other metal bands.
I have a theory of why Nightwish has never done a show like this. Tuomas would only want to work with the London Phil but doesn’t want to pay their fee for the full orchestra. Which I imagine is steep
I've wondered about that too. I think it would be possible. If they could book Wembley several nights in a row, market this way ahead of time as a once in a lifetime thing so people can save up for it. It could be profitable. It might also have something to do with control, and i don't mean that in a bad way. But Nightwish is Tuomas' baby. On stage, he is responsible for the Nightwish sound, that's his responsibility. Letting an orchestra take over for him might feel like giving away your baby. But this is all speculation, i wish an interviewer would ask this again and dig a bit deeper.
Tuomas probably doesn't want to take all the attention away from himself and his synthesizer. I'm also trying to figure out why Nightwish hasn't done anything like this yet. Because so many symphonic metal bands, not as famous as Nightwish, did a concert with an orchestra.
nice reaction again chasing the dragon must be the next song
