His name is Qudaibergen he was performing in Russia, where they add ov to the end of male names and ova to female. He is from Kazakhstan, which used to be in the USSR so the names used to be Russified, but now they have removed the russification on names. They are not Russian, especially the native Kazakhs who were treated very badly by Russia. Dimash often refers to this in his songs
The traditional part of the song was definitely in The Story Of One Sky, in this song it’s paying tribute to the original singer who had passed away, in The Story Of One Sky you heard it when he was looking at all of the people that were in the hallway that had been killed, it’s traditionally sung for those who have passed away. Indeed, that technique was in 'The Story of One Sky' too. Here (and in that song), it`s used by Dimash as a mourning vocalization. In Story of One Sky it`s used in the shot where he discovers all the people killed by the bad soldiers in his apartment building. Here he included it in his cover of "Sinful Passion" in honor of the lead singer of the band A`Studio (kazakh band), who owns the song. The lead singer passed away in 2015 of a heart attack at age 52. Dimash appreciated him very much. The rest of the band is playing the instruments on stage behind Dimash. It was a gala day and the band`s career was celebrated, by several people singing covers of their songs. Dimash did "Sinful Passion". For example Dimash KUDAIBERGEN is the English form, KUDAIBERGENOV is Russian, and QUDAIBERGEN is from his native Kazakhstan. Also, for example, you'll hear him called Dimachi by some. That's the Chinese Dear fans. BTW, you know why he calls us his Dears? We fans adopted this years ago when he said we are as dear to him as his own family. (And he MEANS it.) The Russians like adding the ov (meaning son of). And Dimash in the beginning of his career had it part of his instagram(its still there of course). But all his other Social Media is spelled Qudaibergen. Not with a K, as Cryllic alphabet doesn't have a Q. Kazakh culture didnt have surnames until Russia took them over. So their last names is the first name of the paternal grandfather. So Dimash's dads name is Qudaibergen. Yes, the vocal technique he used here and the story of one sky are similar. The piano player is one of the original musicians from A'Studio, so he wouldn't be used to Dimash singing.

The band named A'Studio that accompanies Dimash, is the same one that composed the song minus the lead singer named Batyrkhan Shukenov, who died of a heart attack in 2015. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, (the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.) The tones in the middle are oriental Arab technique (or traditional qazaq singing, called Joqtaw. It is a lament to the deceased singer). The last run is 24 seconds on 1 breath.

When Dimash's surname has an -ov syllable added to the end (Kudaibergenov or Qudaibergenov), the -ov is a Russian masculine surname suffix. If Dimash's sister were with him onstage (as she sometimes is), her surname would be shown as Kudaibergenova or Qudaibergenova, as -ova is the Russian feminine surname suffix. Dimash Kudaibergen is from Kazakhstan. There is no "ov" on the end of his name. This performance is at a show in Russia, so the Russian announcer added the "ov" to the end of his name. Dimash grew up speaking Kazakh and Russian. He speaks English and is learning Mandarin. He is from Kazakhstan, which used to be in the USSR so the names used to be Russified, but now they have removed the russification on names. They are not Russian, especially the native Kazakhs who were treated very badly by Russia. Dimash often refers to this in his songs
The traditional part of the song was definitely in The Story Of One Sky, in this song it’s paying tribute to the original singer who had passed away, in The Story Of One Sky you heard it when he was looking at all of the people that were in the hallway that had been killed, it’s traditionally sung for those who have passed away. In Story of One Sky it`s used in the shot where he discovers all the people killed by the bad soldiers in his apartment building. Here he included it in his cover of "Sinful Passion" in honor of the lead singer of the band A`Studio (kazakh band), who owns the song. The lead singer passed away in 2015 of a heart attack at age 52. Dimash appreciated him very much. The rest of the band is playing the instruments on stage behind Dimash. It was a gala day and the band`s career was celebrated, by several people singing covers of their songs. Dimash did "Sinful Passion". Keyboard man is the composer of the song :)

For example Dimash KUDAIBERGEN is the English form, KUDAIBERGENOV is Russian, and QUDAIBERGEN is from his native Kazakhstan. Also, for example, you'll hear him called Dimachi by some. The Russians like adding the ov (meaning son of). And Dimash in the beginning of his career had it part of his instagram(its still there of course). But all his other Social Media is spelled Qudaibergen. Not with a K, as Cryllic alphabet doesn't have a Q. Kazakh culture didnt have surnames until Russia took them over. His surprise was not how high Dimash could go. It was how long Dimash sang on 1 single breath: 23 seconds on 1 breath..with multiple runs!!! It seemed to throw him off the ending of the instrumental. That was that start and look of what happened??

The band named A'Studio that accompanies Dimash, is the same one that composed the song minus the lead singer named Batyrkhan Shukenov, who died of a heart attack in 2015. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, (the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.) The tones in the middle are oriental Arab technique (or traditional qazaq singing, called Joqtaw. It is a lament to the deceased singer). The last run is 24 seconds on 1 breath.

His last name is Qudaibergen was spell Kudaibergen a while ago and he change that. I think its becouse in Kazakhstan they change how they spell words right now. They hade spell words like they do in russia and changeing it now.

When Dimash's surname has an -ov syllable added to the end (Kudaibergenov or Qudaibergenov), the -ov is a Russian masculine surname suffix. If Dimash's sister were with him onstage (as she sometimes is), her surname would be shown as Kudaibergenova or Qudaibergenova, as -ova is the Russian feminine surname suffix. Names are funny across languages, eh? When you see or hear his name without the suffix, then it's just his name with no Russian gender suffix. Now you know.

Dimash Kudaibergen is from Kazakhstan. There is no "ov" on the end of his name. This performance is at a show in Russia, so the Russian announcer added the "ov" to the end of his name. Dimash grew up speaking Kazakh and Russian. He speaks English and is learning Mandarin. He is an awesome singer with a 6 octave range, and tremendous control over his voice and breath, as he was trained classically. Enjoy!
