- Hey Everyone,
First off, this episode will look a bit different than normal... My primary camera shorted out its PCB last week. Unfortunately it's going to take a couple weeks to save up for a replacement. I didn't want to stop the uploads so I thought it would be an interesting experiment to film like normal but use a way older camera. The goal is to take inspiration from some of my favorite new wave films and play to the camera's strengths. I think the final look turned out great!
Thank you for being patient while I save up for a new camera.
Today's episode revolves around picking up and learning the diagnostic holy grail: VCDS. I've been on the fence about buying it given its price, but I finally pulled the trigger. I am hoping it will be able to help us finish bleeding the big brake kit on the S4.
Thank you for watching! Consider liking and subscribing for more!
I better throw a few dollars at the best car channel on TH-cam. Keep up the good work!
I can't thank you enough. I seriously appreciate the donation and the faith you have in the channel! It means the world to me!
I’ve been saying you should have a sponsor. I guess we’ll start with us.
I appreciate the generosity! This support means the world to me!
Our videos are genuine works of art! I‘ll just add this to your camera fund. :)
Hey that means a ton to me! Thank you immensely for the support!
Camera fund, Thanks!
channels lowkey fire
It means alot to me that you would donate! Thank you a ton for the support!
Hope this helps with the camera man.
Your channel is the reason i got my 02 audi allroad 2.7t 6 speed.
I genuinely look forward to your videos every week.
Idea for the s4. You had trouble getting the bank 2 bi pipe on due to the fan.
That fan is know to crack and explode, sending shrapnel into the radiator.
Id reccomend the JHM electric fan conversion kit, helps with cooling, and gives your engine And bi pipes more space.
Love those cars! I've seen a few people edit the ride height parameters in vcds on the allroad to lower it beyond normal ride height. Prob not worth the risk of damage long term, but could be fun to tinker with...
@@CamCanCars I'm surprised how much I love the car honestly.
I need manual Allroad rear axle shafts(previous owner out a6 axles in)and to hook up the air lines before I try that.
I bought the car off my buddy, I told him I'll only make the air ride work if it turns out to be cheaper than coilovers.
I'd it works awesome. If not BC racing has my money
It absolutely helps! Thank you so much for the support and the donation. I am thrilled to hear you enjoy the channel that much. Sounds like you've got a great project on your hands!
The old camera was a blessing in disguise bud. The whole feel is killer. Keep rocking dude 🤘🤘
I am happy to hear you liked the feel as much as I did! It's a great camera to learn more with too!
I was exactly about to say the same 🤩
Thanks!
Hey you definitely didn't need to donate but it means alot to me! Thank you a ton for the support!
Thanks for all the great content , you make it into a great form, a little help for a new camera.
I really appreciate the donation! It means the world to me and will absolutely help towards a new camera!
Get that camera
I really appreciate the support and the donation! Thank you!
i have no words to describe how fucking amazing this channel is, im glad that your sub count is rising and i hope you hit it big at some point!
There really is something about your videos man, and with the older camera I’m really liking it your videos feel like I’m watching movie! Keep it up 🎉❤
Keep plugging. This channel will get traction
I really appreciate the faith in the channel! Thank you
Love the end to this mini-series. Your videos capture all the struggles of what should be a “simple bolt-on” affair.
I am happy you enjoyed it so much! Thank you a ton for the support!
I loved the vibes this camera had, props on the new brake setup
I did too! thank you for the support!
Thanks. Camera work was top-notch as usual.
With me getting S4 this year. These videos are so cool. Wanted that car for a long time, i had to change my daily driver 2 years ago so passed on S4 but now that i already have wheels for S4 its time to get a car. Looking forward to this adventure.
Issue with long and squishy pedal is due to old and not capable master cylinder, it is basically same with every car that does "big brake kit" upgrade and with Brembo 17z, 18z on cars like GTI, R, Audi S and etc. It is easily fixed with TTRS master cylinder.
Ive learned through the years patience is way more gratifying than instant gratification. Btw my 17z brakes were night and day from stock. being a stage 3 car theyre necessary.
Glad to see my idea yielded success. Since I had to do it on some of my cars, I gathered it wouldn't be too different on an S4 from the same (and best) era of Audis. I did it the same way with VCDS back then. 3 license version, after one year the unlimited one. Has been invaluable to me since then and even helped specialized shops out from time to time.
And for me, I'd like to see the Super16 in the future. More than sufficient quality and a nice character to it with the emulation. Very nice work!
And I'm extremely surprised, that you are the first one to talk about the same feelings I discovered. You're working and working, achieve goals with your projects, but it only seems like as long as you are not achieving the next in line, you aren't supposed to feel joyous or satisfied. This of course is a path with no end and especially not a good one. I now have a 2007 Q7 4.2fsi which I decided is a milestone for me and can only be topped by a Bentayga. Since that is rather far away, I'm forced to be content with the Q7 and you know what? It made me take time, slow down and now after a huge bill for the timing chain job, I so enjoy driving it like I have no car in a long time meaning 6 years. And I now know how ungrateful I was.
Now I can enjoy our TT more and all the other cars. As history always told us, you need to be forced to your luck, as we say in German. With forethought of course
Your suggestion was great! I completely agree that VCDS will prove to be invaluable in the coming years! Sounds like you have some fantastic cars! I love the 4.2 and will definitely get one someday! I completely agree about the super16. It's a really special look with a ton of character, so even after I get a new primary camera I will continue to use it.
Your philosophical outlook on contentment/gratitude is fantastic! That's how I see things as well. Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of perspective to show you what you really have! I love that german forethought quote too!
Glad you were able to get those brakes going lemme ask my boss about the abs bleed through vcds
Glad you sorted out your brakes finally!
Even though the camera is old the quality is till top notch! Hope you get a new one in short period .
Great work!
I am glad too! I am also happy you like the look of the older camera! It's quite a charming image. Thank you for the support!
Love the creative aspect with the new filming technique 🙏🏽 keep it up dude. From a fellow noggy B5 S4 avant from the UK
I really appreciate the support! Thank you a ton! Sounds like you've got an awesome car!
Dude this is awesome! I love the amazing attention to detail in the editing, you really know how to film as well! It's amazing to watch, I felt like I was watching a pilot episode on a B5 S4 series! I would really enjoy that haha, I am obsessed with these cars. Keep it up !
I personally love the vintage vibe of the old style camera, and how the audio comes thru super retro. Almost expected ya to boot up windows 95. The 1999 date on the S4 dash was a nice touch!
Take a look at the convenience features in VCDS. My previous C5 A6 (2.7t 6mt) had a simple option to roll windows up and down using keyfob. I've gotta dig up my old cable and program windows, keys, and headlights on my mk1 TT...
I really like the look too! I will definitely keep using it as a stylistic tool even after I get a new primary camera! Thank you for the support
Your videos are incredible man. Love to see it!
I am stoked you enjoy them so much! Thank you a ton!
you are so underrated. you really show the real struggles of having a german car lol
I really appreciate that! Thank you for the support!
@@HunterDirection no problem. I also appreciate how much time you put into the camera work and editing. Feels more like I’m watching a documentary than a TH-cam video.
@@LandenSlagle that means alot to me! My goal is to eventually get these to be indistinguishable from a film quality wise, so I am glad to hear they are on the right track!
I’ve been looking at Ross Tech for awhile now. It is a little intimidating and I’m afraid it won’t help with my two issues. 1) I get ABS/EPC lights that put the TT in limp mode on abrupt throttle changes at highway speeds and, less frustrating 2) I need to adapt my new climate control module to the car. I look forward to more vids on the VCDS.
Loving the feel of this camera! I feel you could make anything work!
I really appreciate that! I completely agree about the camera. It's got such a charming image!
Keep this camera for next episode ! Pleaseeeeee😍
I will absolutely keep using it! Even after I get a new primary camera haha
seeing your eyes when braking it made me want to upgrade, to bad my b5 1.8t needs a new trans ATM :(
Another great video. Looks like VCDS saved the day/brakes. Looking forward to see what else this software helps with on your channel. Does the TT have the same brake bleeding process?
Isn’t the rear rotor too small for the brake pads? I believe in the part 2 of the brake kit installation videos, you can see the rear rotor being to small for the pads
You should make a lift spots and jack stands spots as a safety video. I struggle everytime
You should consider invest in one of those hydraulic jacks that lift your car off the ground at once
With VCDS it shouldn't use up your vin# allotment with older cars like yours. It's only the newer cars that make you register the vin. I've used mine on 5 different cars and only have 1 vin of 3 used.
Got some decent passat 17in rims off a guy for cheap. Going to toss them on the A4 B5 in a month.
You need some beater Audi rims? HMU I'm only a few hours away my guy....
What was the camera?
I’m into photography/cinematography as well. Maybe you’ve already gotten a camera, but I highly recommend a Sony a-6500. I got mine in Japan super cheap and I use all my vintage Minolta glass on it. Produces incredible photos w those lenses and they’re super affordable when compared to modern AF lenses. You do lose out on AF, but that’s a small price to pay I think
@@mstrshkbrnnn1999 It was a blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k haha. And that sounds awesome! I love vintage glass!
Was this shot on the OG BMPCCC?
It really has a distinct feel doesn't it! Yes it was!
I'm about to have to go through this to bleed the brakes on my tt 😂
Nice!!
In Europe we usually don't pay for the VCDS, we just use the free cracked version called VASJA :D
literally bought a obd2 scanner last night 🫠🫠🫠
Thanks!
Thanks. Camera work was top-notch as usual.
