I'd love to do a more in depth review of the rice cooker, as I use this tiny beast nearly daily and absolutely love it! I'll drop you a message about some questions I've racked up in a bit. :)
It seems I'm not the only one querying why there is such little content on TH-cam for recipies for the Yum Asia Panda. Is it because you want people to buy the book? I honestly don't understand it surely you'd sell more units if you created more useful content.
Thank you for this video! I was looking at the larger version of this cooker (Sakura) and wanted to know what the cake-function was all about. Couldn't find any info about it except your video. I'm very impressed by the results and looking forward to trying the same recipe in my Sakura :)
From what I've heard, the Sakura is a great machine and can do so many things! It's a bit bigger than what I needed for the time being, so I went with the Panda, but I am sure you're going to be very happy with it!
@TodayIMade hey is there a bigger size of this brownie in the same machine though? Did you try adding an egg for a more stable structure to avoid collapsing the cake while using the fork?
I'd point you at one, but none meet my standards. You know what, I'll do one of those "I've actually used this daily for months" review, why not! (In the meantime, I can highly recommend the Panda, it's a tiny beast of a machine, and unbeatable at the price, from my experience!)
@@TodayIMade hello, are you still happy with your rice cooker? thinking about buying this one because it's pretty cheap compared to some more known brands like zojirushi
@@Hebii69 I'm super happy! I use it at least two or three days a week, and it's perfect for my needs! From my limited experience, this is easily a match for similar sized zojirushi rice cookers.
You can set the time between 30-90 minutes I think. I don't know about temperature, but I imagine the program doesn't cool down in the middle like it does with the rice modes, to allow more soaking.
You know, I really do want to. I'm just a bit nervous that people will find the channel messy if its all over the place. But I'm definitely going to do some wood- and metalworking stuff alongside the 3D printing and modeling. And probably more baking, I've gotten a great response on this one!
This was specifically baking chocolate, yeah. But I should think chocolate chips would work just fine. I have also made this with ultra dark chocolate, like 98% stuff, and that bitterness really is something I like.
I also have the Sakura (larger, slightly more advanced features) and I use both. It really depends on how much rice you want to cook at once. The Panda can cook 1-3 portions and the Sakura is 2-8, so just choose the one that is big enough for the people you're serving.
I prefer the interface on the Panda personally, and the fact that it takes up very little room. But if I have guests over, or want to use the slow cooker functions, then I usually reach for my Sakura.
It's my absolute pleasure! I'm currently debating whether I should try to make a no-knead bread in the cooker, but it gets a bit complicated, trying to estimate the rise.
And to give a slightly better, but unfortunately less satisfying answer, depending on your rice of choice that 180ml can weigh anywhere between 150-200g, meaning 525 on up to 700g for the 3.5 cups.
@@TodayIMadeThank you. The panda is advertised as being suitable for 1-3 persons. That’s quite a lot of rice for 3 people. I was looking a cooker that could cook for 1-6 people. Maybe I’ll get the Kumo but it looks a bit different
@@Anteater23 I haven't had the opportunity to test the Kumo, but I do have the Sakura, which is basically the big brother of the Panda, and it's excellent. The Panda wouldn't feed 6, I don't think.
Sorry for the very late reply - YT had a thing where no notifications about comments were getting through... Anyway, I did remember it, it's in the little metal jigger and I dump it in with the rest of the stuff. But it wouldn't be the first time I forget something like that, so thanks for the vigilance!
😁👍 Great presentation, Jan! Happy new year ! 🙏✨
Thanks! ❤ I'm glad you liked it! - my New Year's Resolution is to finally get back to making videos, so let's see what I can think of for a sequel!
Merci pour cette vidéo, j'aurai aimé en voir d'autres avec cet appareil 😊
We still love this video. You have excellent talent. More like this!

Please do a full review of the rice functions and expand on its comparability to Zojirushi. 😊
You should do a review of this rice cooker, I cannot find any on youtube :)

Hey Jan, do you know what is different about the cake setting on the machine. Is it shorter or a lower temp? Thanks for the cool video.

Dont really have oven for baking.. i guess this is something to try :) Thanks!
You should do all sorts of "today I made" -videos like these, not just 3D printing!

I think you'd be just fine... My husband just said, "I love this guy! Why aren't there more of these?"
Did you use dark chocolate that was unsweetened, Jan, like baking chocolate or would dark chocolate chips work?
This was specifically baking chocolate, yeah. But I should think chocolate chips would work just fine. I have also made this with ultra dark chocolate, like 98% stuff, and that bitterness really is something I like.
I make cornbread in my Comfee rice cooker!!!
im thinking of getting this. do you wish you had gotten the bigger version?

How much does 3.5 cups of uncooked white rice weigh in grams?
The standard rice cup is 180ml and that amount of white rice weighs just about 150g. So 3.5 times that is 525g.

Hey I think you forgot to add the vegetable oil!
