When I first watched this as a kid, I remember being confused as to why they went through all the trouble of creating such complicated figurines of people when minifigures existed. Now that I'm older, I realize that this was made at a time when minifigures weren't yet a thing (or at least weren't very common), nor were most of the more complex and diverse sets and pieces that LEGO has produced since then. It's just incredible to see how effectively the people who made this were able to make use of the limited resources they had at the time.
There's still a tie-game-rule in some hockey leagues and tournaments without overtime, and when this video was made, no one had even thought of having a shootout after an overtime.
Maaaaaan does no one else on here know what this is from???? When I was a kid I had an old VHS that lego put out and it was called Lego Sport Champions. They had hockey, racing, skiing, weightlifting, gymnastics and a couple others. Ahhh good ol nostalgia.
@robloxian566 Just to correct you buddy, it's from the time before the mini figures were put into mainstream production- back then, the range of different bricks was tiny compared to nowadays, so for what they had, I think they did great. And you've got to admit, these types of figures are more suited for the required movements for things like Ice Hockey, and they're quite expressive about it, too.
@metallicaxxx420 I had the same tape, but it was labeled "Lego Stories". Along with the titles you listed, there was also soccer. I don't think there was another one. Sure takes me back to my childhood.
Oh snap you even have an entire row of Arabs at the game (3:10). Where's the alternate ending to this when everyone gets blown to bits...I mean everything gets taken apart?
I remember watching this and other LEGO videos on Comcast!

The lack of minifigures allowed them to do some pretty creative stuff like the characters changing shape and falling apart.
This vid should be shown at Hockey games during intermission.
This is a huuuuge throwback to junior kindergarten (almost 20 years ago). Also the first goal is clearly offside.

This is bizarre... Looks like something out of the 70's. and I guess they didn't have the human models they have now? This is great, nonetheless.
