heads up hair boiling for different hair types 💕 [Barbies from the 80s-00s] kanekalon: bring water close to a boil. put a generous amount of conditioner on the hair and brush thoroughly. place hair into hot water for 3 to 5 seconds. brush out hair (if straightening), and place head in a bowl of ice-cold water. *kanekalon hair is highly sensitive to heat, so put heat protection for hair on the doll when using hair straighters. [90s - present] saran: bring water to boil. same amount of conditioner and same steps. place hair in water for 10 seconds. brush out hair, then run it under cold water. repeat until hair is straighened to your liking. [10s - present] polypropylene: dont even bother trying.
Lovely doll. The ringlets came out great. What you should have done is carefully finger separate the curls instead of brushing them out so you get a very nice head of curly hair instead of a frizzy mess.
Wasn’t really going for that look though. I think brushing them out with a product or running some slightly warm water over her head would have stretched them out into the curl pattern I wanted. Ah well! ✨Hindsight is 20/20 ☺️💕
you couldve just washed with ice water and wide tooth combed it while right out of water and leave it to dry, wouldve looked gretat. ur restyle is really cute but i was sad to see less curly hair esp curly saran cus its so pretty
Hola! He probado ese truco muchas veces.
She looks very pretty with straight hair. Some collectors I've seen heat the straightener for a very short time then turn it off before working on the doll hair.
❤Hi, I noticed a hole in the dolls back while cleaning. I believe that is actually one of the cheerleader themed Teresas like Pom Pom Divas more than likely. I know because I have them somewhere. But the head is the rare Fashion Fever Teresa, the one that was only used for like one year. The hole is to connect a plastic rod that simulates 2 dolls jumping up on the others shoulders.
I’m loving you’re content after disscovering you recently . You really don’t know how lucky you guys are you get so much cool stuff in the stires where you are . I’m from the uk and we get a tiny portion of what you get over there I know I can get things in line but I I’ve to buy dolls in the shops more than online . I love everything pink too I only wear pink clothes makeup and my home is entirely pink too xxx keep up the goose work as I enjoy you’re Chanel very much love from a doll collector and pink lady from the uk xx
I prefer buying in person too! My online doll shopping has decreased substantially. Thank you so much for your kind words! ✨💕 They mean so much to me especially because I’m just starting out here on TH-cam. Appreciate you. 💖💖💖
I think you did an excellent job with Teresa, she is very beautiful. I like her better with straight hair, it really suits her. The outfit looks great on her. She turned out gorgeous, you should definitely be proud of yourself. It’s a good idea to watch yourself some videos on how to do the straw curls, I know I have because I was having trouble with it for a while before I was told the same advice, lol. Bravo 👏🏻
I think you did good. I just curled my dolls hair with perm rods from the beauty supply store. The prem rods were a $1 each for about 5. They come in different sizes. I used $1 store gel super hold. I washed and condition the hair added gel to wet hair curled it all over let it set for about two days. It turned out great 😊
My daughter had this doll when she was 5 years old sadly I threw her away because she was chewing her hands off. She is now 16 years old and had a princess and pauper Annalise doll two of them. Her grandmother donated it to another little girl who was 8 years old 😊
She's very pretty in the end! The color palette you chose really makes her makeup pop❤ I love her hair color. It was very interesting to see the process and different results 😊
You made me want to research my childhood dolls... I think one of my first dolls was Jewel Secrets Barbie 1986… Her skirt was a kind of pouch with strings! Found her online. I didn't remember her face to be like that...but the illustration, perfectly my era of toys, with the Lady Lovely Locks collection ❤
I think she turned out great! I have watched some other TH-camrs use a flat iron on doll hair by heating it on a low setting but turning it off right before using it on the doll hair. I have not tried this myself but may be something to check into if you want to use a flat iron again!
I've never used a flat iron myself, but I've only ever seen people use the flat iron on a low setting on wet hair. Was the hair wet when you used it? If it was dry, that might be why it burned. I highly recommend Lau Skypainter's channel if you haven't watched her videos yet. She demos how she cleans and styles hair and she does an amazing job!
I’ve learned a few painful lessons with styling dolls. Hot water, but not necessarily boiling water, will have good results. I stay away from electric styling tools. I’ve heard the trick is to heat those up and then turn them off and wait a minute before styling. But I’ve found that if I use any curling iron, flat iron etc at all, it does have lasting effects on the hair. It always has a hint of frizz that will never go away.
I love the “UNWORTHY”!! 😂 clearly you personally don’t have curly hair. The technique was fantastic. You just messed up once it came to breaking up the curls.
I’m not sure why you’re so disappointed with the results of the hair style because it’s adorable ❤ It’s got great volume from the curls and frames her face quite nicely 😊 Straight hair is nice in the end, but the curls really frame her face well 😉 You should definitely give it another shot 😁
Thanks! It just wasn’t what I pictured. And there were some straight bits and burnt bits which made me want to just start over. Might give it another try down the line. 😊✨
She looks very good in the end I don't boil wash my dolls hair. I have only done it once for a doll with horribly damaged hair. I did not like doing it and it did not work anyway. I could not restore the hair. Boil wash is not for me. The dolls make it worse, they scream at the thought of it "Noooo, don't. We don't want to be burnt. No boil wash please". What can I do? I think they have seen some boil wash videos on TH-cam (not yours, others in the past!)😶🤔 it made them freak out!
I know everybody is doing it but I don't feel it is necessary for me. I prefer to restore doll's hair without. It probably looks better with a boil wash.
Aaaaargh what are you doing to me! 😂 Checking the Ily Disney dolls and their amazing disneybound outfits and I want them all! First price is 4400 yen to 7700 yen and more... Noooooo. I already bought a doll today on Amazon 'thanks to you ' 😂
@@ispybarbie sorry I didn't see your reply! I bought Barbie Fashionistas 65. Gorgeous petite glamorous girl with brown and magenta hair. I made her a red with pink rabbits yukata and obi sash outfit. 😊 I have to fight with my kids to keep her mine 😂
I know it wasn't the look you were going for, but I think she looks good. If you want bigger, looser curls, you should use bigger-sized "milkshake" straws instead of thin straws.
You did a great job curling the hair, but you curled kanekalon and no matter what you do, it will always give poof curls (unless you find a curling iron that will work with that fiber). I'd recommend trying this on a doll with saran or nylon hair because I think you'll be wayyyy happier with how it brushes out and styles.
You’re right! I definitely need a lesson on doll hair type for sure 😅 I think I could have saved the curls, but I just had to go in with the heat and fry everything 🙄 I’m excited to try again knowing what I know now and on a doll with a different hair type! 😊💖
You did a nice job! However, I would deep the hair in hot water but in a different recipient and not straight from the pot since the hair cannot handle the extreme temperature and therefore it melts.
Also bought some doll which are similar lately , a blonde and brunette the same as the girl who you curled her hair and I’m sure it’s the same one you have and I have searched and searched to find out which doll it is so you know what she is called and also do you know why she has a rectangle shaped hole and a small round hole n her back and what it’s for ? Any help would be appreciated thanks xx
