I've done something similar also, used a Ziploc bag with miracle grow soil and zipped bag tightly to hold soil onto plant etc I'm trying to root, worked extremely well.
I just saw this and I have a fig and would like to try this. Do you also use a banana or just soil? Others were saying the banana isn’t necessary. Another said once you split it apart coco is put into the opening. Did they mean coconut?
@@michaelgarcia355You don’t need this method to propagate figs. Cut the branch, make cuttings 10-20 cm each, place it in water bottles. It will root in a week or two! Then plant it! I just did it and have 12 new black turkey fig trees.

@@BananaMike780 it most certainly is NOT necessary. i assure you. i do the same thing with my trees and no bananas are used. its called air layering, it definitely works if you do this same thing without a banana. none of the 35+ trees i have potted and ready for sale needed a banana to grow roots.

It's still growing into a lemon tree. The banana just helps that lemon stem grow roots so that it can be removed and planted as a whole new lemon tree. The original lemon tree also has roots so it'll just grow new leaves, and now you have 2 lemon trees

This is a method of making a new plant with same maturity as mother plant. Actually there is no need of a banana cocopeat is enough to maintain moist.

Banana is for potassium. Helps promote root development.
It's still growing into a lemon tree. The banana just helps that lemon stem grow roots so that it can be removed and planted as a whole new lemon tree. The original lemon tree also has roots so it'll just grow new leaves, and now you have 2 lemon trees
