Not ready to do a PhD yet, but you made me realize that I want to do psychology rather than computer science. I also come from an Asian/Korean background and did CS to appease my parents and the status associated with it. I felt like I did it for other people, instead of for my values and God. I'm really happy I came across this video and your TH-cam channel. I've always had that desire to major in psychology but didn't do it because people around shut me down. But now I realize that I only have one life to live and I should do it for my own aspirations rather than be miserable in CS because I want others' approval.

Everyone always talks about how difficult it is to be accepted into a psych PhD, with that being said do you think someone would have a higher chance of getting accepted if they get a master's first or try to go into the workforce for a while? I don't have horrible grades but I have the average GPA (3.5) for acceptance to the schools I've looked at, some W's, and no research experience. I made the decision to pursue psych later in college so I feel like I don't stand a chance now.

10:48 Good point. I think I’d like to teach and research academically with PhD, but there’s also that side that tells me it’s society’s option forward in my career and not mine. I crawled out of my M.Ed and not sure if I can or want to make it through a doctorate.
Also, coming from a low-income background, I want to make the most out of my achievements, but no longer at the cost of my mental stability and actually enjoying life.

Do you think that it’s very vital to have high grades in psychology to get into master and PHD? Eventually become a psychologist

Yes, I feel like it's quite crucial to present yourself, Ph.D admissions need to see that you're interested/a good student in your field to even be qualified as a candidate.

Good question. So many of us want to do good in the world. But it costs to be "somebody"
