Thanks for this video! Do you have to use a transaction manager for this, or does the library you're using directly communicate to a SQL database due to some robust AOIs you have installed? I'm trying to communicate direct from a PLC to a DB. So far, Omron N series can do it, Keyence KV8000s can do it, but AB appears to require a transaction manager - which means I might as well just use an edge PC w/ a transaction manager built-in. For my scenario, we're trying to eliminate the edge PC by using direct PLC to DB comms, so this will knock out AB as a contender.
Thank you Alex for your watching this video. Using the SQL Library for AB PLC I developed will eliminate the need of the middleware/software between your AB PLC and DB, its that simple. And from your brief description and if your PLC is AB then this library will do the trick. Here is my email if you would like to discuss further -younes.faraj@arc-acl.ca
Hey Younes, these are great tips to transact data directly to/from Logix PLC and MSSQL. Would you also share the logic in at least one Add-On Instruction? Excellent work!
Hello ARC, good video and in fact I am interested in this type of solution, my only question is if it is necessary to use the AOIs that you developed or do I need something else (I have a controllogix L72s and EN2T card in my rack), if I only need the AOIs; How I can contact you?
Studio 5000 string has 82 characters limit so sql query should be with in 82 characters. Thanks for sharing this kind of video series. May we can get in future as well.👍

Yes, read and write from the PLC to MS-SQL is possible.

I didn’t test to run stored procedures but I believe it could be done.
Peter, stored procedures are also supported yes. Thanks
