I remember seeing Sixteen Candles on opening weekend in '84 and thinking it was just okay. I've probably seen it 20 times since then and now it's among my favorite comedies of all time.
I had the same experience...I was really looking forward to it because I couldn't believe John Hughes of all people was gonna do a teen comedy! I knew him from National Lampoon, Vacation and Mr. Mom so I was excited. Then I saw it, and liked it but wasn't blown away. Subsequently, on VHS I became a fan and obviously, Hughes became the king of Teens.
To this day even if Jeffrey dahmer movie she was great. She’s beautiful person inside and out. I’ve seen 16 candles like 20 times breakfast club like 30 pretty in pink like 10 times. She was adorable in facts of life. It’s like I grew up with her in my life.
