That was an awesome flatty! Never knew they could be caught on jigs. Huge!! Also heard never lift by gills if you plan to release; it will permanently damage them.
I am just getting started with Cat fishing and such here in Virginia! I moved here in 2019, and haven't fished at all yet. I just got my first catfishing pole and reel and some tackle. Im use to fishing Salmon in oregon so it is different hahah. Hopefully one of these times I come out I see you. Love the videos man.
I was fishing at the james river canal/water front thing at like 2pm today and beside this little bike rental shop is a slight shallow end of water a GIGANTIC carp swam right past me unfortunately i couldn’t get him to bite for me. Great catch to you tho🦾
Gotta try to get up with you and learn the ways of the catfish. Not my preferred target just a mile or so up river where I’m fishing usually ( only because it’s super convenient with only an hour or two to get out) .. appears you are by the infamous catfish spot! Seen folks out there on the banks and that specific bridge for decades
We gotta link one day, I’m from the Winchester va area. Me and my buddies usually go up to dc and hit the Potomac but I would love to chase some flats on artificial
@@YT-DAD-BASS-ASSASSIN you can get this really oily thick stuff that i put on my spoons for salmon and it stays on the spoon for quite a while even in the fast river current because the lure will still hold the scent cause catfish are mostly scent hunters
@Lucas-su7um oh ok ive never tried it , we use to take dog food and put it in a mesh sack and put it out the day before and leave out before we went fishing to draw the catfish into a area we would fish the next night,guess it's a similar tactic do it makes sense..I just didn't know there was a scent that would stay on a artificial bait like that..we use a dip or spray in bass tournaments and was relating that,learn something new every day lol,i appreciate the info and knowledge

what id really recommend is putting scents and oils it really helps when it gets muddy
Does it help when the water is moving like that? Seems like it would flow the scent down the river to fast
