I hope they play this song when I arrive to heaven
when you pour your heart and soul into a piece and then submit it and don’t hear from the company and when you call you found out they scrapped it to make Kung fu panda
But then again we DID get Hanz Zimmer writing "Oogway Ascends" which is Also BEAUTIFUL
I sang this piece with The Mile HIgh Choir. It's just beautiful. It will be sung by choirs for hundreds of years after Kung Fu Panda is is totally forgotten.
Kung fu panda has a beautiful soundtrack what are you talking about
@@ayo4637 Whitacre originally composed this piece for some studio production and got curious when they never replied. He followed up, and they basically said "oh it was great. It's just that we scrapped that project [for which Whitacre had composed this lullaby] for Kung Fu Panda."
@@robertpost1221Kung Fu Panda will never be forgotten
My high school's Concert Choir is currently singing this song for our finale concert in May. This is my favorite song we have ever done. Not only is it a beautiful poem, but it is a beautiful song of which Whitacre's arrangement allows the choir to paint a scene with the words of the lullaby.
+xXJiJohiXx Cool! We will be performing this too at OPUS concert, Singapore in March 2016! Can't wait ^_^
I first heard this played on Classic FM, and couldn't wait until the end to hear who wrote it. The music is totally sublime, it actually brings tears to my eyes when I hear it., reminding me so much of the sea, and waves rolling in and out. Truly awesome. Thank you Eric Whitacre for your beautiful music.
Same here, I heard this first time last night when I tuned into classic FM for for my dog Moses to listen to Pet Classics as he is petrified of fireworks. This music came on and I thought wow, this is amazing. My son came in to talk to me while it was on and I just couldn't concentrate on what he was saying because I just wanted to listen to this song I told him to be quiet so I could find out who wrote it, then he said I will record it on my phone and it will find out who it is for you. My son also said it's a lovely sound.
i remeber singing the alto part in choir... id love to sing this again
Sarah bear yes altos represent!!❤️
Me too!!
I was a tenor... this makes me cry
I’m learning it too as an alto lol
I was a tenor in my little choir. This piece was so fucking cool to sing!
This is my favorite song we sang this in a concert! Sending love from Zambia
I get chills every time I hear the Seal Lullaby and Sing Gently by this fabulous composer! automatically!
My Choir was chosen this year to be the New Mexico All-State Honor Choir. I am ecstatic that we get the chance to sing this. It is absolutely beautiful.
Though poetry is the music of words, I admit that I could read Mr Kipling's verses and never truly see its full beauty. But, Oh My Lord, put to Mr Whitacre's incredible musical creation …it reaches into my soul and I am moved to tears.
To me, this piece stands as evidence that the human voice is the most glorious of musical instruments. Breathtakingly beautiful …Amazing!
Rudyard Kipling is a master author. He is one of my favorite English writers. Whitacres setting of this gorgeous poem is unparalleled.
I sung this song in choir when we did a concert. We got the biggest applause that night for it too. I'm a tenor! The most important thing about this song is harmony. You don't have it, you may as well be singing Rockabye baby.

What a truly eye-opening performance. Sure, I've heard non-English choirs singing English pieces, but this performance struck me deep. Language is no barrier in performing beautiful music. Music is universal and it's such a great thing to have amongst all of the negative things in today's world. Whitacre's music is something truly special!
I have spent the last four days listening to this piece about 10 times a day, and just before sleep, still not tired of it. Beautiful contribution to the world that so needs to hear beautiful music. Thank you
This will forever be my most favorite song composed by Eric
ayanna phillips ,,,,im not familiar with the bloke that wrote this stunning song , however its my special find it will be in my heart d soul forever x greetings from south yorkshire england x
Have u heard Cloudburst?!
go check out i thank you God by him !!! you'll love it!
Same
@@---ne7xy I was there when Eric premiered it with the Indiana All State High School Band.
Extraordinary emotional piece. To me it evokes the profound joys our children bring us, along with the unbearable grief of losing them.
And everything you’d do to make sure they’re safe, warm, and comfortable. Just like in the text of the song .
Sang this in a workshop last night. When I first heard it, it made me cry.
I swear this song is a Short Film waiting to happen
Ha! lol. yes - I get it - well... ok, yeah.
Beautiful song. Reminds me of a few of God's words - Even tigers are held accountable for their kills (that's Genesis) - so,... what am I saying? There is compassion in all things beautifully made. There is a hope for the best - for every child.
These are the words I would weave into the rehearsal if I were to rehearse this song ever.
It is so incredibly beautiful. Reflects so so so perfectly the love of the Seal - and family. A good lesson for us All - In these days of death and deceiving.
Actually this song was composed to be the title song of a Dreamworks movie of the same name. It got trashed and replaced with Kung Fu Panda, sadly
kristathebookworm - agree - 100% - and yes, I did hear that some time ago.
ahhhhg. you gotta know PIXAR would have known Better than.
... whew, well, yeah.
the song is excellent - no question - and would make an incredible film, if someone would synthesize the story from the melody, phrasing, back-story, etc.
i love how you can hear the altos so well
so privileged to have been able to sing this song...absolutely gorgeous song, thank you Eric Whitacre
If I tried to sing this by myself (as opposed to with my choir mates)... Forget seal lullaby, it'll be a seal requiem because I'll sound like a dying seal.
I miss this song man. Good times
I am so glad I had the privilege to sing this song with an Honor Choir...and after we hit that 3 way note during rehearsal, our conductor was just like "I'm done...I'm so done..." and he was already in tears...Such a gorgeous song!
This was sung by two of the choirs at the NZCF national competitions. Both times I heard it, I wanted to cry. It is so emotive and so beautiful, and I close my eyes and see that little seal pup, with those huge, dark eyes, and the water like a painting. I think this is now my favourite piece of choral music ever.
Very grateful for this fantastic song. It reminds me to my nephew. He died a few months ago 30 years old. A kind of "wake-up call"...
Sublime. Bless you Eric Whitaker for writing this simply wonderful piece of music.
Gill , this beautiful lullaby is so special , i wish i were singing with these lovely people i woulkd blend in rather lovely ,, this lullaby is a classic that belongs in the top ten of all times lol Jane x
I have never performed this without my voice catching, and a few tears falling...
Like all of Eric's works, this just steals your breath away and transports you elsewhere! An excellent job by this choir.
I performed this song with my high school vocal ensemble last week at a choir contest, and we ended up with a superior rating. Singing alto part for this song was amazing. We get to perform it at the choir concert this up coming week and I am so excited.
I was married right there and I sang on those steps. Now I live far away from Hannover. Brings tears to my eyes.
❤️❤️💒👰🤵♂
Beautiful
I’m lying in bed crying 😭 This piece is gorgeous and I miss choir so much! Whitacre pieces were my favorites.
Es verschlägt mir die Sprache, ein Traum!
I played this in band as an alto sax and it was absolutely beautiful playing with the choir
What a beautiful piece of music! Such a sad sound, but the harmonies are incredible. Takes me back to my college choir days and gets me all nostalgic. What an amazing performance!
Always makes me wanna cry I love this
This is what our choir is singing.... quite beautiful. To sing it is very tender!
Absolutely beautiful, Robin. Just what I needed when I got home today. How I miss my Chorale Acadienne.
When you hear this you are transformed. Life is beautiful.
I was at this concert... breathtaking perfomances... awesome!!!! :)
Beautiful magic! And I see this only now when I left Hannover after 10 years of living there..
i’m crying ,,, so good !!
Singing this on our choir tour to Prague in April, beautiful, mesmerising song.
Singing with him was such an honor and a pleasure. This song may very well bring me to tears right here in my study hall.
My junior high choir is singing this with the high school choir! I love this song so much
Sang this song my junior year of high school. Still makes me smile every time I hear it.
One of the loveliest performances of this song I've heard to date. We sang this in my choir - it's exquisite.
Got the sheet music for this a week ago and we are sounding great! Was worried cause we are learning quite a few pieces before Jan. 24th but we’ve already got two full down in less than two weeks. Super excited to sing this in concert!!!!(shout out to Powhatan High School: One Voice)
could my twin sister and i join this rather beautiful choir ,we could blend in with the harmonies with great delight xxx this song is the most beautiful song we have ever heard x the choir is utter magic xx
Absolutely beautiful. The piano accompaniment is so light and delicate. Wonderful.
This lovely piece always makes me cry, as I think about the cruel seal killing that takes place in Canada every year. Because of their beautiful fur, thousands of young seal pups are clubbed to death, often in front of their mothers, in a cruel commercial enterprise that is subsidized by the Canadian Government.
+Sally Oesterling Kanucks are Kruel.
you should start a petition to ban that and bring it to your state house when it gets enough signiatures.
it's about a mother seal singing to her pup during a storm.
Catherine Renaud try again
When we started singing this at my choir I just needed to hear this officially recorded. So beautiful, makes me tear up
Einfach so ein tolles Lied! Sing ich auch im Chor. Einfach super 👍💟
This is so BEAUTIFUL!! Wow I'm impressed😍👌🏼
Thank you. This was blessed and beautiful. ❤

It's from Eric Whitacre, a talent composer and conductor.

Perfeito , essa musica e linda, já tive o privilégio de cantala no Coral da Universidade.
Que harmonia maravilhosa!! 👏👏👏🎼🎼
I just had to tackle this song for my middle school honor's chorus in 2 days! Now that's it's over I really miss singing this song in a choir. It was so beautiful even tho it was so difficult 🙁
I love this piece.
I love that the piano takes the final melody cadence.
No words can describe how wonderful this is.
i adore this delightful song , more so when this divine choir is singing it ,,,,,,long live Barnsley,,,,,,,,
I hope we sound this good at our 8th grade concert!
i am singing this in my all state choir and i have never heard it before now. it has brought me to tears :') i can wait to sing this!
This is such a beautiful piece! This choir performed it perfectly!
at my school, at the end of dido's tragic death of a broken heart after a beautiful and haunting aria, the strings died softly away......... until the Nokia ringtone broke the moment. our conductor threw up his hands, faced the audience, bowed and walked off the platform. it was awful.
Groan!
It's the high price of performing LIVE. Some people have to suffer through colds, allergies or COPD. We must learn to refrain from resentment of the occasional cough like we do for closing doors, or pedestal wooden benches in a cathedral. Cell phones not silenced prior to the performance though is inexcusable when general housekeeping requests before the event is a courteous reminder.
This is so beautiful...!! Was shown in our choir class. Wonderful!
never heard this piece before...my loss. its really beautiful
howard hadley same here ,this lovely song reaches my heart and soul ,what a genius this bloke is to have written such utter joy xxx lol fro south yorkshire england
This is absolutely beautiful. Every part has melody and I love it
My choir sang this today in Leigh woods on some boats. So beautiful!
Nancy i like your comment x do you mean Leigh in Lancishire England xx 🌹
I'm Learning this song now; a tough one to learn but an exquisite rendering of Rudyard Kipling's poignant poem. Nice work Eric Whitacre!

Hauntingly beautiful
Linda canção, perfeita harmonia!
Se essa música não inspira, então não há outra que isso possa fazer!
Beautiful song, perfect harmony!
If this song does not inspire, then there is no one else that can do that!
this song is so beautiful!! im in love
Absolutely beautiful piece.
My small singing group, Lorn Chorus, are just rehearsing this. It is very individual and beautiful. Living by the sea it does seem to encapture the sea perfectly. I have to say it has grown on me, and now I love it. Have yet to see how an audience respond!
AMAZING just amazing... love it
Une pure merveille.
There is a reason there is no dislikes for this video, sang this in high school, one of my favorites by my favorite composer
Such a beautiful, soft song. Thanks Eric Whitacre. So happy to be singing it with the ODU choir in an upcoming concert.
I'm a soprano, this song is heart-touching.
I’m singing this song in my high school choir this year, and I am in love with this song. So beautiful. I’m still mad that this was tossed aside for Kung Fu Panda...
ScowlingMantis8 we are too! I hope you do great
Shannon Maldonado Thank you! Good luck as well!
I played this song with my school band with the choir singing with us and it sounded soooo pretty!! I love it soo much!!
I LOVE this song! My choir's singing this for festival in SSA. It's so amazing!
I remember this we just did it in region choir
Such a beautiful piece 😍
My 6th-grade choir is doing this song and we're FINALLY getting the hang of it
UNA ESPLENDIDA OBRA.
Que bonito!!!!!💥🍁💥
Singing this with Whitacre and my chamber choir this spring at Carnegie! Can't wait!
Check out the setting by French composer Charles Keochlin (pronounced KEKLAN, approx) for mezzo-soprano, chorus and orchestra. It is the first of his 3 Poèmes du 'Livre de la Jungle', Op. 18. The Eric Whitacre version is indeed very nice, but the Koechlin setting has an extra, haunting quality. A most beautiful rendering under the direction of David Zinman is heartily recommended. It can easily be found and sampled on TH-cam.
Maravilloso!! La belleza de su música es reflejo de su propia belleza, gracias, Eric Whitacre, por todas tus obras y tu sensibilidad!!
What bonnie faces the singers all have!
My School is preforming this song for a concert on Monday I believe, TCNJ's chorale will also be preforming at my school that night, but after listening to this I had tears going down my cheeks. This piece is just so beautiful! :')
Oh my goodness. That deserves an award right there!
Wonderful !
