Childbirth is so dangerous. Without advanced medical care at the ready, my first tore me, my second caused so much bleeding because they couldn't find all the fissures. However, I was able to avoid a transfusion. It was and is a leading cause of death in women for millennia.

Thank you so, so very much for making this video. I am so grateful for the videos that you make because a lot of this knowledge is hard to come by in English.

Thanks as always Bing. I am still waiting patiently for Kangxi’s sons. Hope you are doing well. ❤
Edit: Bing can you please do a video on Chinese harem system how it started and how it differs from dynasty to dynasty from the first dynasty Xia to the last Qing dynasty. Thank you.

I believe Kangxi's second empress was not favored much since her entry. Somehow she suddenly became the empress due to a relation with the grand empress dowager by marriage. It was too bad her father was a supporter of Aobai. Her position didn't last long in six months. Lady Niohuru died from stress, anxiety, and loneliness. Because of status of being the daughter of a treacherous official and the emperor seldomly saw her, she carried her empress position wore her out. She had no children with Kangxi. Kangxi's third empress was the cousin. He did love her, however, not as much as Empress Heseri. Lady Tong was carried the duties as head of the inner court. She got sick from grief, losing her daughter and a possible unborn child. Kangxi gave her the title empress for at least one day to comfort her.

The Empress-Titel was cursed in Kangxi´s Time.
I think that was the Price he must pay for his long serving Time as emperor of China 😟. He shouldn´t have a happy Family.

Empress Xiaogongren may have died of depression. She was extremely heartbroken when her favourite child was denied the throne.

@@vishnukanagalingam1991 yes. Depression can absolutely kill you. It can break your health and spirits.

@@mgold7503 How very true. The amount of lives that have been taken by depression is dreadful to think of.

For Empress Xiaochengren and Empress Xiaoyiren, definitely childbirth complications. As for Empress Xiaozhaoren and Empress Xiaogongren, as other commenters stated, probably stress and depression (Empress Xiaozhao didn't seem to be favored and being related to one of your husband's enemies only worsened it, while Empress Xiaogong had to deal with her biological sons fighting one another).
