Have you made the switch from propane to an electric kettle?

Good review on the gigawort, I've been brewing all grain BIAB on one for the last 5 years. My brewdays are faster with brewing small batches (2 to 3 gallons) and also like the timer function so I can heat my strike water right before I wake up in the morning.

I am still brewing on this system to this day and now that I am familiar with it I can brew a 2-3 gallon batch of beer in about 4 hours total. Glad to hear another homebrewer using the same set up.
      Happy Brewing!

I'm looking at the Gigawort and the DigBoil 9.25 gallon for a few dollars more. I like the ability to add on to the DigBoil later on.

If you are looking to make large all grain batches regularly then the gigawort maybe a little small as its max fill is ~3.5-4 gallons. I use it for brew in a bag to make about 2 gallon batches when all said and done and it has worked well for me. It is sold for making extract brews which could work if you dilute it down after the boil.
      Happy brewing!

Another option is the Anvil 6.5 gallon if you are looking for the basket and other options of the DigBoil but want to use it for smaller batches.

I've looked at this system for test batches (< 3 gallons) and it doubles as an HLT for sparging. (Even if you decide to go larger). What would you say is the maximum grain load you could mash in with? I've wondered if this system can handle 2.75 gallon stout grain bills - I have one for a Mikkeller KBS clone with 8.35 lbs of grain - think this system can handle that? Agree that electric is liberating and less expensive, albeit slower brewday. Cheers!

With a mesh bag that i have I have done up to 6.5 lbs of grain. I normally mash with ~3 gallons of water and then sparge with 0.5 gallons using an electric tea kettle. I do find that my efficiency can range from 60-70% and if you have a recirculating pump that could help increase the efficiency. Minus cleaning i find that i can do a mash, boil and cool down in about 4.5 hours as the lower quantity of water heats up faster with the 1600 W setting. I will say too that the next price tier up is the anvil foundry that has all of that but I have not personally used it. Cheers!

@@RecipeswithBen Thanks for the knowledgeable reply. Totally agree, I think the 10.5 gallon Anvil is nearly a perfect product (as perfect as this price point produces!) - I also looked at the Clawhammer Supply rig - it's a very, very good system as well. I'm brewing using a Sous Vide probe for mashing and Anvil burner with a 10 gallon kettle and pump and I enjoy typical 73% efficiency, but I do admire the simplicity and convenience of all electric. The Gigawort, with a 3 gallon Fermonster and a dorm fridge with an Inkbird 308 makes an affordable, sub $350 brewhouse. Cheers!

@@jcinsaniac I have seen alot of other channels use the clawhammer system like the homebrew challenge and florabrewing and it does look like the best for its size. If I brewed larger scale batches i would strongly consider it but right now I target about 1.75 gallons in the keg so I needed a smaller scale system. I first brewed on propane but got really sick of having to watch it while it was burning because the wind would often blow it out if i walked away. I will say the gigawort does work great for extract brewing and with a mesh bag i can do all grain and stirring about every 15 minutes in the mash helps with temperature consistency. Hope that helps!

Looks like it would be great for extract brewing!

It would be great for extract brewing and i think that is how northern brewer marketed it. I have been using it for my brew in a bag step up for several brews to make all grain beers and it has turn out great.

Did a magic wand come with the gadget? To produce ale and lager with the gadget you'll need a magic wand and malt produced in Utopia.

Maybe that will come with the next version of this product. But from my experience is has work well for making ales and using the brew in a bag method for the grain.
