    I was expecting him to just do constant pull-ups for an hour, but it makes sense to do them in intervals with small rests

      Haven’t been training too much endurance work lately so did what I felt would be a consistent workout

      The world record for pullups without dropping off the bar is 651 in 87mins. These were not one after the other. They would rest while holding the bar and hang by one hand while shaking the other out. You will see rock climbers do similar, getting blood back in the arm and some say getting lactic acid out.

    Interesting method - two at a time is no doubt still a tremendous amount of effort over an hour, but the interaction between anaerobic and aerobic energy delivery systems is clever. Like a marathon for your lats. Well done!

      Thanks, I played around with different intervals and for me weighing around 180 right now, sets of two felt good

    The sound of the plastic duck is almost unbearable my dude. Amazing work tho. How long have you been doing calisthenics for? How long of rest in between 2 sets?

      Gotta love dog toys lol. I’ve been a competitive athlete my entire life. The rep/set cycle on this was 2 reps every 10 seconds.

    how long did you train for this except your whole life? Did you take any training adjustments?

    • @thejonbrown

      This was actually a spur of the moment challenge/competition. I was training specifically for a lifting obstacle/challenge when I saw about this 1 hour challenge. I did a few mock 1 hour workout to get a feel for what reps/sets I’d look to do and settled on 2/10 seconds. If I were to really train specifically for max pull ups I’d look to get down to at least 150 lbs as opposed to 180 here and pump out at least 500 pull ups a day with some strict 1 hour max effort sessions every now and then.

      @@thejonbrown yeah, that 30 pounds would make a huge difference. Did you get blisters in the end of session? Last time I read about Goggins when he went for 24hours record, that he couldnt finish first try because of lactic acid and blisters.

    Hey, John! How did it feel next day?

    • @thejonbrown
      @thejonbrown  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not too bad, I do a lot of high rep endurance training often along with a fair amount of recovery swimming in water so I was good to keep training the next day.
