24 Hours In Beautiful Ella (Sri Lanka): Famous Train Ride, Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adam’s Peak

- In this video we take Sri Lanka’s most famous train route from Nuwara Eliya to Ella and spend a great day in Ella’s beautiful nature and epic landscapes. Ella is one of the most popular destinations in Sri Lanka - and with good reason. The town is very relaxed, laid back and home to many great restaurants. The surrounding mountainous nature of Ella consists of epic landscapes and lush forests, making for great hikes.
After arriving in Ella by train, we had planned to check out two popular Ella sights, one being the famous Nine Arch Bridge and the other Little Adam’s Peak. Ella offers a great variety of attractions and hikes that you can visit and pretty much everywhere you look you've got incredible landscapes and beautiful nature, which we really enjoyed. We then had one of the best dinners we had in Sri Lanka at a restaurant called Matey Hut in Ella, which rounded of fantastic 24 hours (ok, maybe a few more) in Ella.

2:22 The reason there is no platform in that station, this railroad was built in the British era to collect tea leaves to the capital city, so some stations are designed just to collect tea leaves, so there are not meant for passengers and stations are very short. so the main stations are long and can fit almost every train cart and passenger friendly.

Mountains. Upcountry whether is unpredictable, in few minutes from sunshine to misty and cold. That's the beauty of this area.

I am now big fan of travel youtube channels after watching Dan youtube channel. I think i have subcribe more than 100 travel channel including yours. Few things i am realize about traveling in my country. Some destination like sigiriya charge few bucks compare to local people. I think its not reasonable price and also tuk tuk, Food and accommodation (sometimes) prices too much for tourists. I am not happy that. Anyway good job Zoe and simon. Looking foward to watch rest of episode in sri lanka.

On the one hand I think many visitors want to support the country they are visiting. But of course it does add up and it can often feel like being ripped off if there isn't a logical explanation for it. I also think that not overcharging tourists everywhere has a much longer lasting positive impact on the country, as visitors then will be more likely to come back and also share their positive experiences with others 🙂

We drove past a few different ones, but one viewpoint that's nice you can find on Google Maps by searching for "Inverness tea plantation viewpoint" 🙂

Is the train crowded? What is the condition of the toilet?
You can have good or bad luck with the toilet 😁 This route particularly can get quite crowded, so a reservation is necessary. Many trains in Sri Lanka can get quite crowded especially on public holidays, so that's something to be aware of 🙂

Yeah the train only stopped for a few minutes and we asked the staff on the train where we should get off and that's the exit they showed us 😁 It's all good though, it was more fun this way 😂
@@viiiiiii3426 You certainly have not travelled enough Sri Lankan trains to know that the reserved carriages have closed vestibules between carriages. So they can't walk through to reach the platform from the inside. lol 😅 And the train barely stops there for a minute. There's no enough time to walk through passengers even if the vestibules were open. 🤦♂
