- Honda unveiled their 2025 CRF250R and CRF450R models as we head into the opening round of the Pro Motocross Season. New for this year is the addition of the CRF250R Works Edition, which mimics the same modifications as its CRF450R WE brethren. What do you think of the CRF’s new look? After all the guesses in this video what do you think about an update video discussing what is actually in the bike and what your opinions are about the actual changes?
(Did buy son a 250. Springs are indeed longer and we had to use KYB 498mm springs in it (our stock springs measured 504 new)

Yes, we do plan on filming an update video regarding the 2025 Honda CRF Model range.
We have not had a MY25 CRF come through the shop yet, but once we do, more rich info will be available on our TH-cam channel.

Now that the Stark’s available in California are you doing any suspension testing/ mods? I have ordered with springs to my weight but will need valving.
Good question! We already have settings for the Vargs since the suspension platform is very similar to the YZ models. I recently purchased a Varg and we will be doing all different types of suspension testing, content, and tutorial videos in the near future. - Anthony
@@RideJBI Similar? I would think the power delivery/ balance and handling being completely different would require some specific mods? Comments like “ it floats across “ and how well it turns with low center of gravity- lack of inertia. Also optimizing traction/ contact with the high torque? Anyway will be interested to see what you come up with - I get my bike June 22 and you are high on my list to do the work. Please get some testing in asap. Thanks.

Lot of knowledge at the table boys …thanks for the breakdown 👍 [edit] I’d go stock 250R because the WE features would be lost on me 😂 I think the shrouds are a good improvement. I’ve got a ‘22 and my boots get caught in the pointy shrouds all the time

I noticed in the pictures the 250 doesn’t have the Hinson cover. Does that mean it wouldn’t have the clutch or they just don’t have it made yet sine the hydraulic clutch is new to the 250?
Good eye Nick! I noticed that too while editing the video. My only guess would be they didn't have the clutch covers finished in time for the photoshoot. On Honda's website, they do have the Hinson clutch cover and clutch basket listed as a Special Feature. - Anthony
@@RideJBI okay that’s nice to know thanks. I think the clutch is a bigger role in buying the works 250 because of the use it gets over the 450’s. My uncle wants to get the stock one and I just bought a left over 2023 but I’ll trade it in for the works bike which I thought wasn’t coming in the 250 class for Honda. It will be interesting to see and feel the differences of the bikes. I honestly like the current stock suspension other than the stiffness over breaking bumps. Could be a little more plush and it would be perfect. Hopefully the works model fixes that and maybe I wouldn’t have to get my whole suspension done.

but lets see how it goes. i think i need more feedback from test riders back to back and how feels the motor and new riding balance

Hey guys, Great Video! I was honestly going to buy the 2024 Honda CRF250R in the next month or so.. in your opinion is it really worth it to wait for the 2025 version?? But I dont think I would get the works edition because it just costs a bit more if I was to get the 2025 version, or is the works edition worth the money? I just wanted your opinions. Thankyou!
Hey Rory! Thank you! It's hard to say if the juice is worth the squeeze as of right now. The frame updates seem to be the fix the Honda has needed for many years now and if these updates achieve more straight line stability and comfort, I think the 2025 CRF250R is the better buy. I hesitate to give you a definite answer because the media outlets nor Ride JBI has any ride time, testing, and ownership experience on these new bikes. Something to keep in mind is price. Honda isn't big on manufacturer rebates, but there will be some killer deals on 2024 models once the 2025 model bikes begin to trickle into dealers.

@@RideJBI Ah thanks Anthony, yeah that is true that the proposed frame should be better. I'll make sure to lookout for your channels testing and review on the 2025! But once the 2025 goes to dealers, the 2024 will definitely get a better price. I'll hold off buying one for a while just in case if the 2025 CRF250R model is really worth it, or even if the works edition is really worth the money.. Thanks for your help!

Does the 250RWE come with the Hinson Clutch? The photo shows a stock cover.
Yes, it does come with the Hinson clutch cover and basket. Although not pictured, Honda does list the Hinson clutch accessories as a Special Feature of the CRF250R WE. We speculate the clutch covers were not finished in time for the photoshoot, thus explaining the confusion. - Anthony
Do you have any info on how to do the air filter mod for this years machine ?
We do not. I'd recommend reaching out to Twisted Development or another reputable engine/ecu tuner for more details - Anthony

What is the new "valve" in the forks found to do?
We aren't 100% sure yet as the press release is vague and unclear on what a "bending control valve" is intended to achieve. JB speculates this is a leaf spring style mid valve. This technology can be found in KX450 SR and YZ450F models. Ride JBI sells a Titanium Leaf Spring Cup Set that you can view on our website by clicking the link below:

@@RideJBI .....im not sure how a fork's internals are configured but i did mention a mid-speed valving in the last video as you remember......im thinking instead of one tube inside the fork they divide it into 2 tubes side by side or maybe even 3 tubes and each tube has a valving stack that kicks in at certain pressures ......i know it sounds confusing and out there but im just throwing ideas around for new ideas for fork internals
@@davidgrunklee8407 Its found in almost all current KYB and WP AER forks. Showa is the last hold out and you can mod Showas with it currently.
if you had the resources to buy an old crf450 and a buddy who can weld.....you could have your buddy weld on plates on the down tube and see if it helps.....and if you find a good feeling you could sell the plans of the aluminum size and where to place and weld it.....id pay 200 bucks if i had that problem and you guys found a fix?

You are correct. They did say that. However I have recorded the stock oem suspension settings over the years. And not always do the marketed changes match what was changed. So hence we will wait to determine what had changed and did it match what is marketed.
If the 250 didn't lose weight or gain HP other 250s will smoke it
The CRF250R motor is unchanged for MY25, the only changes that will have an impact on power delivery, horsepower output, and torque character will be the new airbox design and exhaust system. - Anthony
