Steve and Ivana...I am a (slightly older) Canadian and loving your vlogs. I was in Malaysia 40 years ago (!) as part of a Can-Malaysia youth exchange. Lived in Terengannu for about 3 months, making those incredible traditional boats on Pulau Duyong, where at the time, there were many families carrying on the craft. No bridge back then, had to take a small ferry from Kampong Cina across to Duyong. Fell in love with the country, the people, the food. You couldn't have been in a better place to ride out the pandemic. Great to see that despite all the physical changes and modernization the country has seen in the past four decades, Malaysians remain among the friendliest and most welcoming people anywhere! Safe travels, eh.

I like the 'slightly older' Canadian thing Sir 😬. Me too, I am also 'slightly older'. How time flies.
True, those days no bridge across the Terengganu river. However I think there was one further up.
There was also a French woman Proffesor who married one of the local shipbuilders. Such contrast, a dainty caucasion lady marrying a rugged 'Charles Bronson' type man. They were happy I think.

Your vblog brought back sweet memories of time spend with Tengku Ali whom I called Old Man and His Sea bottles.. He is even recognised by the Federal and Trengganu State Government. In Pulau Duyong a few miles off Kuala Terengganu there was a man called Pak Awi whose wife is French.. He build sailing boat known as Jong that he sold for 1 million USD to an American who used it to sail around the world. He did told me that out 3 sailing boat that he build, one can be found in Langkawi Island. Pak Awi also has a resort that he named the Yelllow House at Pulau Duyong. Sadly Pak Awi passed away last year. Terengganu has a lot of character and hidden wonders to be explored by those who seek them. Yet again another eye opener and entertaining vlog from Steve and Ivana. Stay safe stay chill to all.

Yea Pulau Duyung is a quaint fishing village which you might find interesting.
Just FYI I found out from a few people Pn Rohani might not be there.Currently she is with her children in KL.
There are other boat makers there but ofc Pn Rohani, being a French lady who ended up there and was married to Awi the master ship builder, would offer a different perspective to your narrative.
All the best Steve n Ivana.
