I know it is two late for comments but first I guess you have to shut off the water fill supply line and second where would the leak in the in-ground pool be. One would be the piping to the pump I suppose but are you saying the pool itself could be leaking into the ground? That would explain some things to me that are going on around here if that is true.

What if your pool doesn't have steps at the shallow end. My shallow end is 3ft

Hi Ray, I did bucket test and the water level was the same outside and inside after 24 hours. (unfortunately I didn't turn off my water filter), but the weird thing is that I also marked the water level in the pool and those mark has been changed to 1 inch after 1 day. The only thing that I can't understand why water level didn't changed on the bucket (outside)? how it's possible?

Dude because your pool has a leak is the reason that the level is diferent from the bucket! The bucket does not have a leak! Therefore the water will remain the same and does not escape from the bucket!

Its not possible if your pool is losing 1" a day you definitely have a leak unless you live in the desert
