- I take a drive through my hometown; however, more importantly, my childhood neighborhood, New Sheffield. This is where I was raised; this is where my friends and I walked, went to school, trick or treated, rode our bikes, and grew to appreciate the meaning of family and community; this is something that lacks in our towns now. Some of my neighborhood has not changed since I have departed. Some has. See what you think...

What a wonderful trip down memory lane.I am Dr John L Miller's granddaughter. He was the Aliquippa football team doctor and city councilman. I hope you will make another great video, this time of how West Aliquippa looked back in the 1950's and how it looks now. Main St in West Aliquippa had so many ships and it had every thing you could need. There was a drug store, movie theater, bakery, gas station, hotel, lots of little markets, 2 hardware stores, home to Henry Mancini, and of course home to My wonderful grandfather Dr John Miller from 1912 to 1971. He was a beloved doctor . Your videos are such a wonderful reminder of the great place that Aliquippa still is. Thanks!!!!
Wonderful trip back to Aliquippa, Mark! My Dad grew up on McMinn St. as well! (1617 McMinn) back through the late 30's to early 1950's. He moved my Mother and I out to Parma, Ohio in 1958 because their school system was paying Teachers above average wages at that time. We went home to visit my Grandparents in Aliquippa and across the river in Freedom frequently! Wish people could have seen how prosperous and beautiful both communities were in those days! Still drive back there twice a year to tend to Family burial plots in Woodlawn and Oak Grove, and of course, a meal at Jimmy Magg's place at Shadow Lake! Thank You for the memories!

Mr Grago: Thanks very much for your Aliquippa video. I grew up on Irwin and then Hemlock Street, swam at the Plan 12 pool, played baseball at The Little League field, went to New Sheffield School and graduated from AHS in 1960, so your video stirred up a lot of nostalgia for me. Listening to your Aliquippa accent along the tour was like going home.

Mark, Thanks for the video. I grew up on Plan 12 and had a lot of ties to what you captured. Tons of memorable stuff from first account at Mellon, Sheffield School, my dentist’s office, the baseball fields, the Greek Festival, etc. My group of friends built dams under the Main Street Bridge and spent many days at the P12 pool. I appreciate the trip down memory lane!
You did a great job. During my high school years, 11th and 12th grade plus going to computer tech on 8th Street in Pittsburgh. I worked part time at Aliquippa Wholesale Tire when they were located in the old A&P store. That's where I met my future boss. Andy Bochak and his brother Nick. Andy owned Mighty Muffler. He later moved to a brand new location up on the broadhead road hill. Worked there a few years. Then I started working at Stonegate Restaurant on Broadhead road. I made alot of friends up there. Now I'm living in Jacksonville, FL. I used to live at 1212 Royal Drive. I was also a member of the MMPI club. And I loved taking my girlfriend to Jerry's Curb Service on the weekends. I always had the large steak salad. I also worked for Unis Demolition. Rizzo Unis was the owner. His daughter was my girlfriend for a while. Frank Unis and Crink we're the owners of Aliquippa Tire. Also another Unis owned a trucking company. And right across the street from my parents house was Mr. Albert Unis. The father of all the Unis's. He taught me to play gin rummy. Alot of great memory's there. Even worked at Mike's Car Shop on Chapel Road. Which is closed now

Growing up in Aliquippa was great for me. I remember going to Dr. Johnson office as a young girl growing up first on 7th Avenue then moving to 3rd Avenue
Could you do a short visit and history of Tamaqui Village in Beaver P.A.? Interesting past , as it was a group owned condominium style housing from at least WWII. My parents lived there while my Dad was going to Geneva College on the G.I. Bill and I was born there in ‘56. I just love your videos ! Retired librarian.

I get tears in my eyes when I see the video of Aliquippa Hospital because that very spot was where I shot my first squirrel out of an old lone oak tree that stood on the edge of the hill. We ate that squirrel that night and my family was grateful for it. Thanks, Jeff, for these videos, they bring back such wonderful and poignant memories.
Grew up in Aliquippa 5248 webb st grandfather retired from J&L steel last time was back there was 1974 when was I Marine Corp need to go back got old pics of me with great grandparents who lived in South Heights I miss playing in the woods
My grandma lived on Davidson. I went to school at Aliquippa Elementary. Do you remember the bomb threat that was actually a distraction for the bank robbery on Franklin Ave? The bank is now the Municipal Building.
Wow! While I’m not from Aliquippa, I had relatives that lived on Main Street Plan 12 and “up on The Terrace” as they used to say - both Polk Street and Filmore Street. I ate at the Eat-N-Park on many occasions with my grandmother. Thanks for the memories! Nice video.

Your Grandmother and mine were good friends; she would come from Davidson street (actually, up the alley that I know you remember!), and they would chat on the porch in some language my Dad didn't even know! Beginning looked like a part of hopewell
Spent many a happy afternoon in the early-mid 60's swimming with my friends at Plan 12 pool. If you had turned left when you got to Allen St. and gone up the hill you would have come to my parents old house on Parkview. We used to sled ride down that hill.

Wow the Serbian Church and Polavina Funeral Home, not seen them since my Grandparents died. We'd visit and go to the eat n park Took my dad to visit in 2010 it was as if nothing changed and missed the boom of the 90's. IIRC my dad lived in Hopwell after the mid 30's on Hall St.

Great video! I lived on Reed Street on plan 12......was there last year visiting! Next time can you visit the site of the high school and jr high which is now the high school ! Much appreciated !
