I was so surprize that there were that many mushrooms and in such good condition. I will keep looking at all your videos to see when there are no more mushrooms to forage because of snow. In the mean while I'll keep enjoying all your videos!
Its nice to see an asian that covers his holes. A lot of the asians come in groups of up to 20 to 40 people and they use rakes to remove the top layer of pine neetles to expose the mushrooms ,after they are done the forest floor looks like someone ran a rorotiller through a huge area of the forest and they leave a huge mess that destroys the mushroom beds. They are not very popular with the other mushroom pickers. Many of them move into an area and intimidate other pickers to leave the area and many of them carry side arms . Law enforcement has a lot of problems with these groups that come out of the portland area and have no regards for the forest or our laws. They had a huge camp just outside of the small town of Cresent on top of the willamette pass,they camp there because most of the mushroom buyers set up buying stalls in the town of cresent. After this huge group of asians moved out of the camp they made in the woods the forest service had to hire 10 yard dump trucks to haul all the garbage off these people left behind . They are a menace to the woods and they do untold damage to the forest eco system.
In all my 30-plus years of picking, I've never seen anyone walking around with a rake in hand looking for pine mushrooms in the woods. 🤣 most use a digging stick. The campsite you're talking about is called Industrial Mushroom Camp, set up by the forest service specifically made for pickers to stay at. They are not allowed to set up camp anywhere else, but there. There's potter potties throughout the campsite. Gigantic dumpster set up for throwing the pickers garbage away. Each camping area has a number, and the forest service writes down picker's license plates down, connecting them to that site. If your camping area is littered with garbage, the forest service will issue you a warning at first. the second time, you'll get a ticket courtesy of the forest service. It's not 20-40 Asians. It's a mixture of hispanic, asian and even white people. If I had to take a guess of how many people at that industrial mushroom camp would probably be a few hundred pickers. Almost everyone carries a firearm, including myself, not to intimate people, but for protection from wild animals such as bears, cougars, and even packs of wolves. On the rare occasions from other pickers and people. The grounds are torn up pretty well during the season. I agree with you there, but not from using a rake like you said. I know all of this because I, too, was camping there last season. The forest service makes their rounds daily to check for littered camping site. They are very strict about keeping the camp grounds litter free. Thanks for commenting and letting me address the truth in all you've just said.
