This is where the Stargate franchise gets real. The start of a quest to get the answer to our whole existence, lead by no other than Robert Carlyle. I would have hoped for a 3rd season to finish it and give us some kind of a conclusion
It's not impossible to make a third season, but it would be very difficult. And plotwise, many stasis pods will have to have failed (actors unable to make the schedule work).
Then if they wanted to bring some of the humor from the other series into it they could say something like "Are you sure our show didn't get cancelled then brought back?"
And then they come back to Earth but some fuckup happens and they get back in time to defeat a wraith invasion along side the ancient that happened a long time ago and no one knows about it
One of the coolest things ever... Walking up the stairs and they took him higher than he ever thought possible. :P Also a damn cool series that I miss. Shame they put everyone to sleep for that long galaxy jump and never made a true ending to the series. So I chose to believe that Eli managed to repair the pod and the ship ran out of power short of the galaxy and is drifting the last bit of the journey still...
imagine if you were playing a game and then after doing something in it people show up and take you to there spaceship even though you think it's a joke🤣
I see no reason it shouldn't work. Like it is hard to have local BTS on the ship with link to the planets network. Although I would also expect that having safeguards for security reasons.
I miss this show so much, for once, Universe was way the most mature SG franchise they made with talented characters, especially Dr. Rush was damn good.
@IP That's a very objective statement. The series as a whole may have been a let don but in terms of the possibilities that the series added to the Sratgate Franchise it was a big mess with an even bigger amount of potential as long as they kept innovating they could have kept going with the series and made it better as long as they also tapped into what made SG1 and Atlantis so popular and successful amongst the fan base. Some hate it and some love and some like me are the moderate faction in the fan base but by no means was the entire series terrible if you consider all the new knowledge and lore they added to the franchise.
Universe had such potential, yet was wasted by the writers. That's why it failed, they focused on the wrong things that first season. By the time they got to the universe building any fan base from the previous two shows were gone.

@watashi I hated Rush from the get go. But I think that was the point for him :) Robert Carlyle is an amazing actor. His performance was outstanding. But Eli's character was forced into a development that was very well portrait. Also a very good actor imho. Unfortunately there are also some bad actors in my opinion on the show.
stargate sg1 was great ! the following seasons not good for real, jack teal'c daniel carter made a good moments not one like first seasons very pleasure

SGU truly was the Voyager of its franchise, a different, darker take, with a different tone, it even gets a ton of undue hate. Most can't seem to even go into much depth on what they don't like about it, or rationalize 'bad writing' complaints. I thought it was intriguing, and slowly got better and better. Plus, Carlyle as Rush was such a great freinemy. I honestly don't understand how this got trashed after two seasons, but Atlantis survived. I can see why people would dislike Atlantis strongly, yet it's regarded as "it go better" while many just say SGU was trash with no potential.
They didn't use those Comm Stones right. They could have been putting guest stars on there left and right. Rodney, Daniel, Carter and a MD would have worked. Pay em enough and they would have done it.
Atlantis followed the same formula as SG-1, with a cast and tone that was light-hearted for the most part. Honestly, I think if they'd let Atlantis finish out with 6 seasons and did SGU around now, with cameos from both shows, SGU would do extremely well with fans. Dark dramas are everywhere nowadays. But yeah, the hurt was a bit too near from the Atlantis cancellation.

SGU was something new for the time that got me interested. It would probably just be seen as a copycat if it came out now, piggybacking off of other dark dramas instead of being a bold new direction. People never appreciate bold new directions though, they just want to be force fed the same shit they've consumed before with superficial differences. It's nearly impossible to get something truely novel to take off, unless the market gets saturated by it to the point it becomes the new familiar.
@@kauske I'm the opposite, I loved Atlantis! I watched most of that show before I watched SG-1, just because it was on TV at a convenient time, lol. Honestly, Atlantis was always entertaining, not as lore-heavy as SG-1 but with similar episodic stories that let you jump in anywhere. It was just right for a sci-fi action dramedy show, in my opinion. And the cast was brilliant. SGU was such a sharp contrast to the earlier shows that it felt pretentious, a bit like it was taking itself too seriously. It looked great though, maybe it was before its time.
The idea for the game was like that from The Last Starfighter, and the music reminds me of Enigma. I loved this show, it was fresh but still felt familiar.
Little tip. Make people sign the NDA before you beam them up to the space ship. If the implication is that you can make them disappear if they talk... the NDA really isn’t necessary at all.

@John Smith Universe got a lot of hate when it was on. It was so far apart from the other shows in style. Lot of people griped that they were trying to bite off of the BSG style. Truth be told, they were but the show was still good.

I mean for the same reason I stoped watching Walking Dead and other similiar shows. Because the concept itself of "Crap happened and now we must work to survive in this new situation" changed too quickly to permanent "Lets ignore critical problems around us and concentrate more on fucking over each other even if we would die due to it" It was as if you had Senator Kinsley permanently stuck in SGC, messing up with Hammond/O´Neil in every episode even while earth was in grave danger. It would stop being fun after few episodes.
I still get sorrow pangs when I watch this show. Best scifi on tv ever. Never really got a fair shake. I always wished they would release a 2 hour movie or something to tie up the ending.
What I like about this series is they started with nothing when first stepping through the Stargate now they have gained fleets from working with allies they've made along the way years of effort can really be seen in Stargate Universe.

I can't believe they actually programmed Stargate into a video game. I totally get embedding a top secret mathematical problem into a game to get the nerds of the world to solve it but why did they program Atlantis and Dakara and all this ancient stuff into the game too?
I never got into Universe, everytime it was on TV, it was just that Rush guy sitting in a dark room and nothing but doom was happening around him. There wasn't any adventure or cool stuff. I didn't know O'Neill made an appearance, that's always cool. Still not sure if it's worth watching though... it's so different from SG1 and Atlantis.
It is very different from the rest of stargate. Thats the reason so many fans hated it. Though i absolutely love SG1 and Atlantis with all my being, i would argue that SGU is objectively better in a number of ways. It has its flaws of course, and particularly in season 1, it does drag a bit. But SGU had the potential to present so many profound mysteries and situations that the light hearted adventure shows never did. It is a pretty grimdark style show, and i totally get that doesnt jive with everyone, but SGU is really a good show. Definitely got better as it went along.
I really hated that this got cancelled. I was a fan but the fandom didn't like the change in story telling to extremely depressing events. It was fantastic as a stand alone project but it was part of well established series which major changes in story telling can alienate established fandoms.

This show was way better than sg1 or atlantis. The people who disagree are the same retards who by the same call of duty game over and over to get the same content year after year. I think the problem was that the cast was, stylistically, too different to the other shows. Happy go lucky for the most part and got along. Everyone knowing what they were there for and working as a team. Unfortunately, all of that not happening was the entire point of the series. I agree if they got a third season they would have been fine. Season 2 was a huge step up compared to season 1.

Tbh my problem with SGU was the very different tone compared to SG1 and SGA which were a lot more "fun". While SGU is a lot more serious.
The SGU characters were all unstable backstabbing bastards. There wasn't anyone to like.

it was REALLY expensive and they gave it a bad timeslot so the ratings weren't great

@@blueskybelyr I never liked atlantis myself, likely because it was so samey, yet also inferior to the original. It wasn't unwatchable, but I wouldn't go out of my way to seek it out either. SGU was something new for the time that got me interested. It would probably just be seen as a copycat if it came out now, piggybacking off of other dark dramas instead of being a bold new direction.
People never appreciate bold new directions though, they just want to be force fed the same shit they've consumed before with superficial differences. It's nearly impossible to get something truely novel to take off, unless the market gets saturated by it to the point it becomes the new familiar.
@@kauske I'm the opposite, I loved Atlantis! I watched most of that show before I watched SG-1, just because it was on TV at a convenient time, lol. Honestly, Atlantis was always entertaining, not as lore-heavy as SG-1 but with similar episodic stories that let you jump in anywhere. It was just right for a sci-fi action dramedy show, in my opinion. And the cast was brilliant.
SGU was such a sharp contrast to the earlier shows that it felt pretentious, a bit like it was taking itself too seriously. It looked great though, maybe it was before its time.

The idea for the game was like that from The Last Starfighter, and the music reminds me of Enigma. I loved this show, it was fresh but still felt familiar.
I keep thinking they’re going to continue the show with another season. I hope they do, it was a good show.

Little tip. Make people sign the NDA before you beam them up to the space ship.
If the implication is that you can make them disappear if they talk... the NDA really isn’t necessary at all.

With the way they ended the show they could continue on from the last season if they can get the actors writers and crew in general back on board.

@John Smith Universe got a lot of hate when it was on. It was so far apart from the other shows in style. Lot of people griped that they were trying to bite off of the BSG style. Truth be told, they were but the show was still good.
@@Elthenar Well thing with universe was that it had limited number of characters that were stuck together. And half of their problems came from those characters acting really stupid. I mean for the same reason I stoped watching Walking Dead and other similiar shows. Because the concept itself of "Crap happened and now we must work to survive in this new situation" changed too quickly to permanent "Lets ignore critical problems around us and concentrate more on fucking over each other even if we would die due to it"
It was as if you had Senator Kinsley permanently stuck in SGC, messing up with Hammond/O´Neil in every episode even while earth was in grave danger. It would stop being fun after few episodes.
I still get sorrow pangs when I watch this show. Best scifi on tv ever. Never really got a fair shake. I always wished they would release a 2 hour movie or something to tie up the ending.
Wish they would have finished this series, so good..... I miss the SG universe

What I like about this series is they started with nothing when first stepping through the Stargate now they have gained fleets from working with allies they've made along the way years of effort can really be seen in Stargate Universe.

This series was ahead of its time. that's why it failed. the audiences weren't ready for a focused story-telling a la Game of Thrones, but expected sitcom. This series should come back on Netflix. Boy, I loved those characters.

I can't believe they actually programmed Stargate into a video game. I totally get embedding a top secret mathematical problem into a game to get the nerds of the world to solve it but why did they program Atlantis and Dakara and all this ancient stuff into the game too?
So the person who solved it would have a rudimentary understanding of the language in the event they needed to read or understand it at some point.
Such a good start to the show, unfortunate it didn't like up to its promise.
I guess the canon ending is Eli never solved the energy shortage and they are now drifting in stasis in the space between galaxies.
I'm still kind of stumped why they didn't figure out the whole static address thing, its the first thing you would try.

I never got into Universe, everytime it was on TV, it was just that Rush guy sitting in a dark room and nothing but doom was happening around him. There wasn't any adventure or cool stuff.
I didn't know O'Neill made an appearance, that's always cool. Still not sure if it's worth watching though... it's so different from SG1 and Atlantis.
It is very different from the rest of stargate. Thats the reason so many fans hated it. Though i absolutely love SG1 and Atlantis with all my being, i would argue that SGU is objectively better in a number of ways. It has its flaws of course, and particularly in season 1, it does drag a bit. But SGU had the potential to present so many profound mysteries and situations that the light hearted adventure shows never did. It is a pretty grimdark style show, and i totally get that doesnt jive with everyone, but SGU is really a good show. Definitely got better as it went along.

I really hated that this got cancelled. I was a fan but the fandom didn't like the change in story telling to extremely depressing events. It was fantastic as a stand alone project but it was part of well established series which major changes in story telling can alienate established fandoms.
If I ever saw Rumplestiltskin and MacGyver at my door, then I would probably faint.
This show had a lot of potential.The plot (s)could go just about anywhere.I think it wasn't as familiar as sg-1,but the same thing with tng(star trek)people didn't like it until they got to know the cast etc.SGU wasn't given that chance.I also liked the darker more realistic tone,where problems could become lethal if not solved.There's a lot of things that could've been done differently.When it was canceled and replaced by wrestling,I stopped watching sy-fy completely.
This show was way better than sg1 or atlantis. The people who disagree are the same retards who by the same call of duty game over and over to get the same content year after year. This show did it differently then its predecessors and in my opinion did a great job. I blame the retarded masses for this shows failure.
I think the problem was that the cast was, stylistically, too different to the other shows. Happy go lucky for the most part and got along. Everyone knowing what they were there for and working as a team.
Unfortunately, all of that not happening was the entire point of the series. I agree if they got a third season they would have been fine. Season 2 was a huge step up compared to season 1.
