With so few Marks left I couldn’t imagine destroying a rare classic rather than restoring it 😢

There are some cars that you just don't mess with.
    This is one of them.

I came back to watch this for the third time. I think because the original Mark II has such beautiful lines, I just don't care for this custom. Yes, I was disappointed with the GM engine (which are literally the cheapest engines you can obtain) It doesn't mean I don't appreciate the tremendous effort and excellent build quality - plus I recognize that it's his car and he can do anything he wants!

I was going to leave a comment but you left it for me that was exactly what I thought and putting a Chevy motor in that thing there's a special place in hell for people to do that

I remember the 1st. Mark II, I ever saw, back in 1959. It was owned by a pediatrician in town. It was remarkable to behold, so unique.

56 has always been my favorite, we had one as a kid until my mom upgraded to the 21 window VW we were all so embarrassed to ride in. Now I’d love to have either one of those cars.

I remember when Jay Leno had Rick Dore on his show that Rick told Jay that he's done all the cars that customizers lust after and has more appreciation for a car as is. Though doing a '56 continental is certainly different because it was uber expensive and not many made.

Didn't think you could do much with/to one of those, but that is spot on. Just enough, not too much.
Can we get a look at the T-bird too? That looks pretty wild.

Max Korfendagus I agree, it's a Lincoln so it should have a Lincoln motor in it or something from Ford.

@@LordRumshi Thanks LR. As a fan of car shows, I'm always disappointed when someone just plunks in a crate motor from GM. I once thanked a fellow for not putting a small-block in his lovely '51 Ford pickup. The flathead looked great.

    • @LordRumshi
      @LordRumshi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Max Korfendagus I wouldn't say I'm disappointed but more so of over the fact people do the same thing that's been done a million times over: Ford hot rod or make with a Chevy motor. Again that's just me, why do something original when instead just do what's been done a million times before and likely will continue to happen.

Rick Dore's work reminds me of Foose builds but I can't help but think that Dore's cars are just on their own level, a cut above the rest. Can't take shit away from Foose though and perhaps no sense in comparing the two but that's my take...I'd have to see a line up of the two makers builds to really see if there's any credence to my inclination.

Boy....I don't know bout this one.... The chop top doesn't look bad and I like the paint....but the rear end..?..kind of iffy (for me)
Too bad he didn't do more of a traditional looking interior....(Hate those kind of steering wheels)
I'm like some of the other posters on here....I always thought these were really a cool looking cars....not sure I would have messed with it...

Although I think (?) I like the overall look of the Car. I hate the way It looks, when It's set on It's lowest position. Wish I could have had a better look at It, When it's Upright. The car also begs the question; "What Price Glory ? ".

Lincoln with a Chevy in it. No surprise to me as they are relatives to begin with. Follow the calender. In Nov 1901 Henry Ford founded the "Henry Ford Company." But by March 1902 after a falling out with W. Murphy and L. Bowen, the financiers Henry left with $900 and his name. Enter Henry Leland in August 1902 and after an engine change and reorganization of the Henry Ford Company it was renamed Cadillac. Yes Cadillac. By 1909 Cadillac had developed into a desirable automobile and it was purchased by General Motors. This left Leland "out" of the automobile industry. In 1917 Leland started the Lincoln Motor Company. Yes that Lincoln. By 1922 Lincoln was in receivership and in February was sold to Henry Ford. Henry Ford sent in his staff to "learn" the business. In short order Leland was asked to resign.
So Henry Ford started the Henry Ford Company, was ousted with little more than his name. Leland changes Henry Ford Company into Cadillac and sells that marquee to General Motors. Leland then organizes Lincoln making it a sister line to Cadillac. Lincoln is then sold to Ford becoming Ford' Marquee Line. Crazy isn't it? Also explains why I'm a Ford fan and can't stand Caddycrap or Lincoln.
