So this week's offering is something a little different: a jazz standard with music by Hoagy Carmichael, who also wrote Stardust and Georgia on my Mind. The Nearness of You has been covered by countless performers over almost ninety years and this version is a great opportunity to get some 'jazz' chord shapes under your fingers.
I'll go through all the chord shapes and the format of the song in my usual way, along with details on bass notes and other stylistic elements, before playing the whole thing through.
