- You know what I love about Sim Racing? The bar is constantly being raised. Just a few months ago we were treated to the release of the W12 in iRacing. That car is unreal and something that I thought couldn't be topped...then this came along. Some of you don't like the VR videos, but I genuinely think this is the best way to experience cars like this.
I'm also aware that I made a similar claim with the W12, but hey, times change haha

Assetto corsa is still one of the best games out there despite its age, the modding community has done incredible things with the game
Couldn't agree more, I continuously get my mind blown when I find incredible new mods for AC
absolutely. it still blows my mind that they solved the large map physics shaky issue. it used to be widely accepted that that just couldnt be fixed, yet they did.
@@ICKY427 now there are servers with ai traffic and all sorts, even if assetto corsa 2 is a complete flop the modders will keep what we have now alive for years to come anyway
I can't bring myself to play it, since I only use VR and they never bothered to fix any of the menus to actually display in VR.

It's almost like they saw that comment amongst others and realised they were a joke and others including junior formula drivers would copy, so they have started to clamp down.

Try the AMS2 F1'22 Jimmer. AMS2 had a physics overhaul since 1.3 and it feels like ACC now, way better than the RSS cars which feel numb and lifeless at low speed.
I want to see F1 22 cars plough snow I reckon these new front wings would do alright. 😆
This mod is excellent, it does feel like it’s a bit too grippy? When I drive it it almost feels like 2021-2020 spec, but that’s probably because the 2022 car isn’t really much slower then previous year (anymore).
The 2022 cars are about 0.5-1.5 seconds slower per lap depending on the circuit
Yes, the lap record for Austria on this car it's already around 1:02/03, which is really insane if you compare to the real cars, but the handling itself don't seem so far from the real cars
Did you install it with the alternate physics that only work with CSP 1.77 and higher ? It has a little bit less grip
It's because of the ground effect, if you drive the lotus 98t it also feels too grippy, and the formula 79 feels like that too
Yeah I prefer the VRC formula alpha 2022 mod! But both are really good.
Sure, the driving experience might be great and the VR might actually work but we all know the most important thing in driving games is the ability to buy cushions. When the devs can be bothered to put some actual effort into the game and allow me to buy soft furnishings (ideally for real money), maybe I'll give the game a try but they can piss off if they think I'm buying a game that is missing such an integral aspect of motorsport.
I was confused at first because I bought their hybrid X evo back in Dec and I thought this was just an update but this is a completely different car. Its honestly worth it, feels so good.

I love this car it feels amazing in VR with a DD wheel. I’m so addicted, been on holidays for a week and played for a good 3 hours every day best holiday ever!
Love the VR view. I could only imagine how immersive this would be with a motion rig! You can really see all the blind spots the drivers have to deal with. Really shows you how talented they really are.
I'm surprised with all out tech. Nowadays that they haven't created a transparent halo that's just as strong. One can only hope. ✌

Jimmy, pick up a front fan for your index! it will completely remove the "hot box on your face" feel of the index, Total game changer for me.
Exactly! I've got a 200mm Noctua fan right behind my steering wheel. It keeps my Index fog free and reasonably cool.
fyi, the index needs to run at a specified temperature and running the fan can cause some display issues. But is there are really high ambient temps, it probably won't hurt anything.
@@evolicious I've had my Index for about 3 years now and I've never had a problem with it in room scale or on my rig with a fan blowing on it.

Both RSS and VRC are ASTONISHING mods, but if it comes down to sweatiness VRC will have you sweating buckets upon buckets nonstop.

i can totally say with confidence that assetto corsa is by far the best race sim out there, and i'm more excited for assetto corsa 2 (confirmed) than whatever kaz is going for with gran turismo
theres a mod out there looking to combine the two, basically assetto corsa remade to have a used car market with most other things you'd find in a gt game. im not sure on the name but i can't be hard to find and is probably more developed by now
I hope it's a lot more Assetto Corsa and at lot less ACC. My gut tells me they are going to get greedy, try and turn it into a whole e-sports live service thing and completely screw up the VR and modding support. I really want to be completely wrong. It could be amazing but I've learned not to get my hopes up
@@e2rqey i think acc got many sim stuff right, i've seen real drivers praising how realistic the feeling of the gr3 cars felt, but yeah, it was not my type of game
I was a bit of a GT fanboi but jumped ship when they started ass fucking their userbase with doesn't matter if it great, just as long as we have a feasible base users registering projected profits, who cares.
Funniest strategy being drip feeding updates that should have been included in the first place to quell any dissidence from those who have been hook on the fishing line.

One of the best mods for ac ever.
Downloaded the mod after seeing this and using the new physics mod. Outstanding when you hear the car bouncing through maggots and becketts and feel it through the force feedback.

My guess would be that simulators continue to improve and that it will feel and look better every year.
Basically just like the yearly developments throughout the history of technology.
for VR I also have a wind generator which is great for open wheel VR immersion and keeping your face cool.
Jimmy, I don't know if you are using any already, but if you haven't seen Dave Cams newest VR video you might want to check it out. He uses some form of image stabilisation that really helps reduce the "jitteriness" of VR recordings. His implementation has some issues (black bars on side when panning at speed) but I'm sure that can be minimised. I personally find how you do it currently to be fine for me, but I know people are picky when it comes to VR videos.
With the right VR setup, you too can be budget Lance Stroll. 😉

Hey Jimmy, you should play on the No Hesi servers. Highways, traffic, other players, weaving through everything. It's also on assetto Corsa

Just bought it. It has a really awesome feel to it but I think I prefer the the VRC version of the car it's so much easier to bottom out and spin it. Just seems a bit more realistic to me. That said it's amazing that you can actually have a race between the two versions, because on race pace they are actually quite similar, with the RSS being ever so slightly faster
what this video does not show, is that in VR you also see in 3d, which makes it even more real.

Have you tried the VRC FA 22 too? Theyre both great cars, that and the RSS.
Assetto corsa is crazy to me the modding community is insane. I mainly drift and race occasionally mainly just do lap times. But the game is just like no others no other game has the amount of content in it with the mods. The base game on pc is decent but the mods just take it ahead. Especially with the graphics and there is rain now so the game just looks uncanny.

You should try the VRC Formula Alpha. Feels much more connected to the road than the RSS. When you're pushing, you really feel like you're in an F1 car with the ground effects and stuff.
VR is so cool for racing games. I hope the VR implementation will get easier the next couple years so we can get better fps.
It depends more on software and game developers. The technology is basically ready with foveated rendering. They just need to build games from the ground up with VR support in mind.
You can run AC now with AMD superresolution upscaling even on nvidia gpu's. Made it super sharp and performant! Best VR sim out there with this F1.

F1 22 VR is so poorly optimized. Iracing, Automobilista, and AC look so much more refined in VR.
@@ccramit Well I wouldn't know since my Pc is unable to run anything in VR and I don't have any glasses. That's why I made the suggestion.

Yesterday I bought f1 22 specifically for vr, and I had an unplayable glitch that caused the head tracking to be delayed by abt half a second. Was really disappointed to see that on the forums, many others had the same issue. As of right now I wouldn’t consider f1 22 to be viable for vr users.
You can go and drive older era F1 cars some places. It’s just Crazy expensive. Like 10k US for a 5 lap run at COTA here in the states. If I had it to spend. Truly I would in a heart beat.

Being limited as hell on space, I've ordered one of them Playseat fold'em'ups so I can set up my trusty old G25 after having been away from sim racing for a good decade. I love VR soooo much, and I just haven't been able to really dig into proper simulators until now, and I'm excited as hell about it. Noodled around with a few using joypad, and failing.. But man, having been gone for so long and coming back into this.. I mean Assetto Corsa wasn't even out when I last played a sim.. I was playing live for speed.. And Viper Racing for funsies..
Anyways, what I mean to say.. is that I'll have a DD wheel within a year... And be in debt and stuff...
Luckily DDs have gone down in price dramatically so you can get a CSL DD with load cells for under a grand. You don't need to get anything more honestly. The 20-30 nm motors are typically overkill.

Word of advice for drifting: the G29 is not fast enough to counter steer, so from a pespective, should try 360 rotation and see if that helps.
I still cant believe VR isn't the norm and triples are, especially considering VR is cheaper than a nice set of triples. I haven't used my triples in over a year now, the depth perception and immersion you lose when going back to 2D would honestly make me stop sim racing.
Righttt? You learn tracks so much faster also, and it's way easier to be consistent. Problem is tho FPS mainly. ACC for example you have to downgrade so much in VR it's not worth it.
@@Hani_Santa Yeah I feel like braking points are SO SO SO much easier to nail, where it would of taken me 100 laps to feel comfortable with a car/track combo now its 50. Yeah the performance is pretty rough in some titles though, I haven't even tried ACC because of what I've heard. I just stick to iRacing and AC.
triples (or an ultrawide) are probably better for longer races and overall comfort and doesn't have motion sickness.
still most people probably have a single monitor.
@@kirby1225 I've done a few 2 hour stints and that was fine but I admit much more than that would become tiring. The motion sickness problem can be overcome with exposure over time.
@@kirby1225 this will be solved in the future, it's just a matter of time. I had the Varjo Aero for a few days, and it's as sharp as a 2k monitor and has a build in fan to keep you cool. Believe me it's almost as comfortable as a monitor. I had problems with bending, so the image bended at the edge, maybe because of my headshape so I send it back, for me that was a deal breaker. But it's very promising technology! My dad for example drove round after round without getting nausea where he did get nausea with other glasses. So sharpness does help and also you get way less eyestrain. But for now I can see why people prefer monitors. Soon though things will change, VR is for sure the future.
I looked up the mod expecting €10-20 and saw it was only £4! Even if it's just for a single car model its still pretty good value

With some graphics mods Assetto Corsa is still one of the best looking race games out there in my opinion
not the best looking in VR but still the most fun and my go to. for some reason most graphical tweaks don't really do anything and most PP filters look weird for me in VR.

@@assettohub i feel you. acc either looks blurry af for me or the fps is unusable even after the updates that supposedly made it better for lots of people. for me the madness engine, so pc2 and ams2 looks best by a pretty long shot. that doesn't stop me from loving ac, though. with 150% res in steam vr it looks decent enough but yeah the lights, colors, shadows just don't match newer titles.. what headset are you on? on reverb g2 myself..
@@optimustait Feel the same to be honest, I’m on the Quest 2 so yours is probably way better but if I compare the graphics quality with for example Flight sim 22 it’s just not good enough in VR, how is your headset would you say worth the price ? Bought the quest 2 more as a try out into VR especially due to the price
@@assettohub I would say for the price it is today and when I crank the resolution, yes, its amazing. But then I don't get my solid 90 fps in most titles so honestly I'm just very excited for the next generations of GPUs when we can really start to enjoy these resolutions. Even my 3080ti and 5600X don't cut it just yet..
Still waiting for the PSVR2, hopefully it'll have support for PC, and even more important hopefully GT7 will be fully supported, and not just a stupid demo mode like GT Sport and the PSVR1.
It probably will have PC support ( most likely not official ).
Just tried PSVR a week ago with "iVRy Driver for SteamVR" , and after a bit of tinkering it's pretty good in Assetto Corsa.
Other the somewhat lowish resolution on PSVR it's pretty good, but PSVR2 should remedy that with 2x res per eye.
