I remember as a boy in the early 70s, my father sitting me down and explaining how to tell the difference between the Waterlow, De La Rue and Bradbury Wilkinson's issues, dipping the stamps in lighter fuel liquid from a little yellow can on a black plate. It was truly magic watching the watermarks appear. I spent the next few months going round to friends and sorting out their Castle sets for them. I remember one of the Mums giving me a funny look when I turned up one day with a tin of lighter fuel, a black plate and a pair of tweezers.
A beautiful and very wonderful offer. I wish success and progress in your wonderful work. Health and safety to you. My thanks, appreciation and respect.💕💕💕
My grandmother worked for National Geographic and parcels would show up with these stamps on them. I have quite a few duplicates but I need to get out my watermark detector fluid and find out which printings I have. I am only a casual collector of GB stamps. My real favorite countries are the US and South Viet-Nam.
I'll bet working for National Geographic was awesome. As a Brit I mainly collect British and British Commonwealth stamps and cherry pick anything else from around the world that takes my fancy.
Thanks for the educatting video. I've just retired and picking up this hobby again. Yes, I've this set of stamps in mint condition. I'll check whether they have watermarks or not.

@@coinsstampsandcollectibles3552 your channel is one of the most worthy to subscribe I have around 1500 stamps from different countries I had found from an old shop where I often visit in hin of vintage books but now o know the value of these stamps, your discription literally makes me travel back in time , good job dude I am your fan
@@coinsstampsandcollectibles3552 I have seen the other channels too but they ever try to elaborate about any stamp, the maximum they do is to reveal their monetory value and share the information already available on internet on different blogs, your videos are kind of a complete package from value to history and information about stamps I will recommend your channel on my professional TH-cam channel 'Sinner Speaks' and on my official instagram ID 'mohit0001987' good luck friend and carry on your honest hard work
I have this old 5shilling stamp as shown in your video that I want to sell. Can you please tell me where l can sell this stamps in Malaysia. Thank you very much.
Hi it's impossible for me to say, there are different variations of these stamps, printed by different companies which have different values attached to them. Also, I wouldn't be able to value your stamp as I'm unable to see it. Also, I don't do valuations, I am just a philatelist, not a valuer. Your best bet is to get it looked at by your local stamp dealer. They will be able to help you.
Some basic errors in your commentary. The most expensive issue is the 1958 De La Rue, NOT the 1955 Waterlow. And the contract passed to Bradbury Wilkinson in 1963, NOT 1967, with the 1963 set issued on multiple crown watermarked paper and the final issue in 1967 being on unwatermarked paper.
