Because elephants are migratory, Zoos like the Sydney Zoo will regularly take their Asian elephants around the entire zoo so that they can get exercise and experience a familiar "trail" so to speak. It's really interesting how different zoos try to help their animals feel fulfilled. :D

Definitely take a gander at Oregon Zoo's Elephant Lands expansion, I love our new elephant house. We have Asian elephants, which are a little smaller than African Elephants, but they love our climate and it's always a hoot when the zoo gives us video of them playing in their pool in the summer or in the snow in the winter!

I‘m in love with your wish to make it look realistic. I never thought of what an elephant house would actually look like in a real zoo and I didn’t know that the males are separated from the females either. Really good job! 😳💞

Dear Geekism! I thank you so much for the Cologne Elephant House!!!
I live in Cologne and my (longterm ;-) )PZ-projekt is to build the Zoo of my hometown. Unfortunately I am complete noob in building complex structures. So how happy I was to find this on steam workshop :-D

Nice Build. I always wish i would have such patiance to build such things.
Funfact: the habitat in Cologne is a former Bicycle Race Track. Thats where i got its size from. Ofc they added a lot of stuff to it.
I wish the publishers will add birds in the future. I would love to build big aviarys with diffrent climates in it. People enter it via entrance and exit and you can have diffrent birds from various continents in it which have the same needs.
    Keep going. Love you videos

Sadly my laptop died, but Geekism made me laugh with the F's so I guess that's a good way to end the day. Now it's time to go sleep and lay in bed awake worrying about the money for a new laptop. Also since you have a cat in your home, does that make your home a habitat as well?

I tried the same sort of “split habitat” with bears as well, and it was even worse. Despite not having access to the extra bear (i had my current breeding pair in together on one side and another female on the other, intending to switch them off with the male) the two that were together still argued over the social limit. While fun and realistic to play with, I agree that it’s probably better to have two separate habitats, pretty up their “access” points with null barriers and scenery, and move them manually when you want them together instead of opening a door like I tried 😞

God the elephants are gorgeous in this game, definitely something I'll be working towards when I finally get to playing. You did well giving the exhibit some flair without being plain but I wonder if you overdid it with the large rocks on the ground.
Perhaps the only criticism I have is that you build with so many pieces that only the very best computers can run it in a full zoo. This build is great inspiration but not easily plopped down. I suggest you find a balance in that, like making a lite version.

I'm planning on recreating the old elephant house located at Taronga Zoo Sydney. It's designed to look like an Indian temple but by today's standards, it would be too small for an Asian Elephant to live in it. You can walkthrough it and there's information boards explaining the history of the house and methods they no longer use on taming the elephants. Nearby, there's a giant elephant barn that is more modern that houses the zoo's bull elephant which is out of the view from guests.

This habiat looks so cool! By the way, Acacias is pronounced just as you said it, but the c is pronounced as a 'sh' sound. You got the vowel sounds right though. Interesting fact: the reason they are in an umbrella shape is because animals such as giraffes will chew all the young leaves off underneath and then you're left with an umbrella shaped tree :)

  • @sarahh6237

The ditch is so cool! Only ever seen those once before at a zoo in France (check out Chateau Bourbansais). They look amazing and are so natural but it's really scary when you're 5 metres away from a pack of wolves and there's only what looks like a tiny ditch between you.

Beautiful build! I'm new to PZ and didn't know that things like logs could be used to block animals. Yet, I've seen guests walk through centerpieces. Is there a way to know what objects have physics for guests and animals?

A sound from English that comes very close to 'ö' is 'ea' from 'earth'. So instead of curling your tongue back like when saying 'o' you push your tongue against your lower front teeth while keeping everything else the same. Also, if there is no trouble with copyright and it's not too much effort I would love the occasional picture from the zoos you reference. If you omit them on purpose just ignore, love the videos!

I have an odd cat story. A few weeks ago I was playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey and fighting Medusa. The fight was frustrating because I kept wiping. After half a dozen wipes, I was so close to killing her, but at the very last second, I wiped. Man, I was pissed!
In my frustration, I expressively exclaimed excessive explosive expletives. As a result, I startled the cat, who had been curled up on my lap fast asleep. The frighted feline dug its claws into my legs, narrowly missing my unmentionables, and my balls. It unceremoniously lept from my lap and bolted out the back door, into the nighttime of my garden, vanishing into the darkness. Now. Here's the odd part of the story. I don't own a cat. 0.o
