    gemstones are either isotropic or anisotropic,all 12 gemstones listed in the Bible used to make the new Jerusalem( heaven) are anisotropic.
    when you shine pure light through a sliver of an isotropic gem you get beautiful colors while isotropic gems such as diamonds absorb light and appear dark.
    this knowledge was unknown by scientists until the laser was invented

    The point about agate, chalcedony, onyx, sardonyx, jasper, and carnelian that you skip around is that they are all cryptocrystalline quartz.

    Emerald is a green variety of Beryl. Not sure if that should be counted as incorrect ;-)
