The Cajun Gardener just caught the show this morning. By far, the best info I've heard on tomatoes and feeding them. Great info on egg shells .... Never put the dead fish, but I've done the egg shell, fireplace ash, compost, powdered milk, baking soda, Epsom salt mix in each hole... Then side dress at first blooms... Then I usually end up using miracle grow. Now I'm just going to use your 20-20-20 and your new micro stuff. Thanks for a great show!
Just did a couple rows of my tomatoes with that weave I have seen in some of your videos. I really like how it turned out already weathered a bad storm
Y'all really do make us smile! Thank you so much for all the time you spend helping us grow our own food. Love your videos and your tools... they really make a difference on our homestead!
Thanks Guys! Great info. Ordered 7 different varieties of tomato seed from y'all this year and got almost 100 percent germination on all. Looking forward to a good harvest.
I watch all your videos and always learn something. I live in southeast Alabama and have almost the same climate as you guys. I don't have a garden space but I do plant in the grow bags that are so popular for backyard gardens. I'm surrounded by huge oaks and both front and back yard is nothing but roots.
Just started watching your shows. Maybe l can figure this gardening thing out with y'alls help. Lot of failures but decided to give it a go again. Running late as usual. Thanks for all y'all do
Even us folks who have doing it a while have failures every year. It's part of the learning process and sometimes mother nature doesn't cooperate. Keep your head up and enjoy what you're doing.
We continue to work (learn) on the fertilization of our garden (Calcium - Nitrogen-10-10-10 / 20-20-20 ETC.). Good information once again. Thank you again for your guidance. God bless you and your families. We look forward to next week's video.
Comment... Always watch... look forward to the show every week. Just walked in from the garden... picked our first canning of bunch beans, pulled my first potatoes , and have some squash that will be ready before Monday. The rest is gonna be a while. Well we have been picking blueberries for a month... man an I enjoying them. Well I had to come back to this, I completely forgot that I'm eating peaches as well, and of course my Mulberries have come and gone... well they didn't go far, they are in the freezer, getting ready to start some wine with them. So far it's been a pretty good year. Having some problems (who doesn't)... but all in all I can't complain. When I get to feeling sorry for myself, I think back to the people who lived thru the potato famine in Scotland, and the Dust Boll Years here in the US, and I realize my problems are small, and I just head back out to the yard, and get at it.
I used Gypsum last year and had no problems with blossom end rot even with ALL of the rain we had here in Georgia. Definitely going to order some of the micro fertilizer ASAP! Thanks again for the detailed information.
I use a large garden hose reel to pick up, store and layout my drip tape. It is pretty easy to do. When I pick up the tape, I make sure I have the end open and it drains all the water out of the tape. I had bought some 15 mil. tape thinking it would last longer than the 8 mil, but it was more of a pain and was not worth the hassle. I have some tape 4 years old.
We like the 8 mil tape for vegetables. The 15 mil tape is a little rigid, so it works better if you're going to put it somewhere and leave it for a while.
I grow around 10K garlic and remove the scapes as soon as they elongate but before they curl. They are a HUGE energy drain and will diminish the size of the heads. Left intact, the bulbs can easily be half sized. BTW, our customers love the scapes which we sell at $2 per dozen. We also make pesto out of them by chopping them with basil, olive oil and Parmesan cheese in a Cuisinart food processor. You guys are the best; love your show/videos.
Love it when y'all talk maters, I've been hitting my bella rosa's with that 20-20-20 and I'm here to tell ya - that dog will hunt. I just ran my second line on that Florida weave.
Congratulations on the first year. My family loves watching y'all. We love the 2 minute tips, Gardening with Greg and especially love The row by row show. Question on calcium, is there a specific product other than the "balanced" fertilizers we should be using to give calcium to our tomatoes?
Thanks for the good advice and chemistry lesson on fertilizer. I'm gonna try the Florida Weave on our Bella Rosas this year and see how it turns out. Thanks for all the good info.
I use fish emulsion and so far I have very healthy plants full of blooms and small tomatoes. I do add generic tums to my grow bags because calcium does leech out from watering.
I was getting my trace micro-nutients by shipping in Azomite volcanic rock dust from Utah in 50 lb bag. I think it has a marked effect on improving the taste of vegetables. Your micro-boost will be much easier and less expensive, I'm glad you are adding it to your product line. Great show guys.....
Travis he always gives the first dig of the spur! I take a small cup fill it, take a sharp shooter stick it in the ground between each plant pour 18-46-0 in tomatoes love it that's what Oklahoma State approves. They love the 46. I've been very successful with it in the past 20 years. Question our entries are just a comment or what?
I used lime, epson salt, calcium nitrate, and bone meal when I plant my tomatoes. It worked really well last year. I added a little epson and calcium nitrate during the growing cycle. Really enjoyed your show tonight!
Question on Tomato fertilization. I used chicken litter pre-plant how should i do the "spoon feeding"? I will also note i am not currently set up to use drip.
Love all the content and great products you guys put out. My question for the one year anniversary show, how did you guys get into the garden business and what keeps you working at it year after year?
@@gardeningwithhoss Thanks again for the reply on the video. Just reinforced my positive perspective as I continue to learn from you and the Hoss community.
We leave the onions on the grass in the sun for 3-4 days before bringing them under the barn and setting them on the rack. The potatoes go right on the rack.
question I'm an evening warrior gardener mainly containers until raised beds..I like to toss granular fert and forget as a side dress....how's my granular P doing anything if i top dress about 2/3 of my P. if it's in mobile so to speak "u know what I mean.
So instead of digging in solid/granulated fertilizer into a band, you spray water-soluble into a concentrated band? Seems easier than digging in the solid, but what are the advantages compared with just wide-spraying the water-soluble all around the plants?
I make the carbon steel seasoning product for Misen! Their knifes are great!
I love watching you guys! You always make the food your tasting look so good!
It is so good!
I always look forward to your shows. Have learned so much so far. Love you guys!!

Question on Tomato fertilization. I used chicken litter pre-plant how should i do the "spoon feeding"? I will also note i am not currently set up to use drip.
Do like Greg said and use a sprayer with the nozzle removed. Just dissolve fertilizer in water and apply it to the soil beside the plant.

the fish trick works ,fert day is Sunday and i love your 20/20/20 but i also add sum kelp meal
Thanks for watching Robert!
Thanks - I plan on having much bigger tomato harvests this year
We hope your plan works!
I can’t wait for fresh ones these grocery store ones suck up here in Kentucky
The grocery store tomatoes suck everywhere. Mostly because they pick them green and gas them to make them red.
I new to growing onions some are putting out blooms should I just pullum are wait till they fall over like yall said ?
Once they start bolting, they are pretty much done growing. Pull them and let them dry.

Greg mentioned using his sprayer to "band" fertilizer for his tomatoes. Could explain in more detail? Great show.
Instead of spreading the fertilizer over the entire garden plot, you put it in a "band" alongside the row of plants or where you intend to plant.
So instead of digging in solid/granulated fertilizer into a band, you spray water-soluble into a concentrated band? Seems easier than digging in the solid, but what are the advantages compared with just wide-spraying the water-soluble all around the plants?
