But I believe it gives God something to bless, the same as my children exhibit more responsible maturity I can give them more responsibilities and privileges. I was just saying that Antioch had no say of it's naming. I left Churchianity because of all the wolves fleecing the flock. I loved your series on Revelation immensly. Not disagreeing with what you are saying about those "ungodly men" who turn the grace of God into lasciviousness and how that can lead to a compromised or defiled gospel message, but I do not believe that is what Jude is referring to in verse 3 when he speaks of "the common salvation." Sure, that is one way to interpret "koinos," but the same word is used to speak of the believers having "all things in common," and the same word is used in Titus 1:4, when speaking of "the common faith." To put "the common salvation" into better perspective, I think we need to look at what Jude says in verse 5: "I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, HAVING SAVED THE PEOPLE out of the land of Egypt, AFTERWARD DETROYED THEM THAT BELIEVED NOT." (Jud 1:5) In other words, salvation came before the destruction of the wicked, and it came to all. It was, therefore, a "common salvation." And this is why Jesus said: "And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world." (John 12:47) So often I hear people quote this passage as if Jesus is asserting that there is "no judgment," that he does not and will not "judge" us, that he came ONLY "to save" us. But they fail to "remember" what Jude is, here, telling those to whom he is writing this letter that they need to remember, that salvation comes BEFORE judgment, BEFORE the destruction of the wicked. And is this not what Jesus said? That "judgment" would come with the coming of the Holy Spirit that was to follow?
