Vraiment.
Incredible film. Beyond all expectations not only the music, not only because it’s Django, but the musicians, the children, the quality of the filmmaking including the colorization. This is a true archival gem deserves tremendous recognition in the hall of great music
ESPECTACULAR
I was privileged to see Stefan Grappelli in 1981 at Henrietta NY.He opened with Takin a chance on Love, and played on a black in color tone Viola, that sounded like the late American guitarist Jim Hendrix.I tune Fiddle in D ,D A E B.Old Chris a retired fiddler of Albuquerque NM
This uploading is a journey for the world to see. DJANNGO REINHART, SWEET DREAMS JAZZ, BLUES OF ARTISTRY SUBLIME. THANK YOU. WARMTH WITH REVERENCE. ❤️✨️✨️
This has to be the most amazing time capsule ever created of this amazing culture and amazing music. Possibly the best video i have ever stumbled across on youtube. This is so fantastic, thank you so much for uploading and sharing with us. I will be thinking about this for a long time. I need to go practice my guitar
to answer Steven Gallardo's question about the electric guitars played by Matelot Férré and Ninine Vees, they are the model "Royal" made by the Jacobacci Brothers.
Nice to see this. It does reveal that the closer you get to his playing the more obvious the difference. Lots of really competent players who could be exchanged without noticing. The manouche industry is a sad legacy. Like 78rpm records played so many times all that is left is surface noise.
8:05 I did not know Lee Van Cleef could play guitar! But really, compared to today's highly polished, glossy productions, the natural, rustic appearance feels wonderfully refreshing.
Wonderful old film from 1960, a real glimpse into the world of the gypsy jazz musicians of Paris. Lovely how all the little boys pretend to play along, and the little one called Lulu who already plays really well at just ten years of age. Wonder if he became a professional later ?

1960
Fabuleux document
Le monde de Django Reinhardt.
La vie et la musique
Les visages et les guitares.
Mille mercis
Blown away by this marvellous piece of history ..... a legendary icon celebrated.
Incredible film. Beyond all expectations not only the music, not only because it’s Django, but the musicians, the children, the quality of the filmmaking including the colorization. This is a true archival gem deserves tremendous recognition in the hall of great music
Extraordinaire archive. Grand merci aux auteurs de cette vidéo.
Quelle joy d'e'couter cette musique.. Merci.
OUI
The entourage/audience of Manouche-Romani children is a major delight here -- especially their "air" rhythm-guitar playing!!
What a movie. A culture I know nothing of. Grappelli is simply uncanny. A joy to behold.

32:05 - Incredible to hear this interview with Grappelli himself, and then to hear him play... Powerful!
I'd sell my soul for having such developed sense of hearing as Romani musicians. Django is one of my fave guitarists and musician in general.
Son son magnifique reconaissable entre cent mille

Beautiful colored images f this guitar genius.
Stunning! Thank you for post this incredible tribute!
Merci!!!!
There is vintage cool and there is timeless cool...this is both. Thank you!!!
Wow. I knew Django and his followers could play fast, but this is shredding avant la lettre.
