- Performance shouldn't be the reason why you use switch over else-if, clarity might be more of a reason. Any performance benefit seems to be very negligible and is definitely a micro-optimization.
- The provided examples of switch-case are situations where you'd usually use a Map (lookup table) or some other logic, and not actually situations that warrant the use of a switch. Even a game like Uno which has different behavior depending on the card, would benefit more from (for example) a strategy pattern than a switch-case in terms of readability and separation of concerns
It's a good video to explain the concept, but I'm afraid it would create bad habits because the provided examples are unclean code
