- On this second episode of Obscure Whisky Wednesdays or OWWs I review a whisky from Iceland! This is Floki Single Malt whisky and it's been smoked using sheep dung to dry the barley. This is a single cask whisky which I've not seen sold outside of Iceland so let's give it a sniff and taste to see if that sheep dung effect can be felt --- yes yes it can!

can't be any more extreme than this 😅 Fun as always, cheers sir🥃
😂😂😂 it is a weird one. Thanks for watching 🥃
Really nice review. I have been to Iceland, but in June. It was a wonderful expetience. Such a different landscape. Did you try the lamb hot dogs? Really pretty good. I know what you mean by connecting to the counrty/land. I have been to Austrailia and Urulu (Ayers Rock). A site that is sacred to indigenous Australians. When I caught a final glimpse of Urulu as the plane I was on passed over, I too had a tears and a spiritual connection. It was so moving. Thanks for sharing non-whiskey experiences. Cheers.
Thank you for watching! No I didn't try the lamb hotdogs, we do have them in my country as well but I did try Puffin and Whale and Hakarl 😁
It's such a transcendental experience when it happens isn't it? Australia is on my list as well, I hope to visit it one day 🙏
Glad you liked the video, cheers 🥃
I have a bottle of Flóki Young Malt and also one from a 2018 single cask old enough to be actual whisky, both of which I like. Everyone I've mentioned them to, however, assumes that they only do malt smoked with sheep dung and I think that's a shame. (I'm sure there used to be a joke that included: "...you shag one sheep..."!) Have you tried Ondjaba from Namibia?
If I get a chance I'd like to try more stuff from them. Hahaha I can guess the rest of the joke 😅
I have heard of the Namibian whisky but I have not tried it. Have you?
@@thewhiskyenthusiast Yes, I have a bottle of Ondjaba - rather nice and not really smoky (at least not to me, but I am a Friend of Laphroaig...)
@@andrewbutler7681 Laphroaig was the whisky which made me fall in love with Scotch whisky but can you actually taste/smell elephant dung at all? I'd be very curious to try that
Iceland sounds awesome! And a land of some of the strongest of strongman athletes too. But this whisky sounds just awful! LOL- thanks for the weird and fun review!! I think I'll stick with the peated scotch! HAHHA
Iceland is awesome in the truest sense of the word I believe! Yeah the whisky is just an experience I'm happy to have had but not a taste I'd miss 😅
Thanks for watching and see you on more Scotch reviews 😃🥃
My father was stationed in Iceland back in 1955 Air Force.
Someday I hope to make the pilgrimage.
But not for their whisky 🤮
Cheers 🥃
Wow really John that's so cool! Yeah you should definitely definitely visit if you can, I can't recommend it enough 🙏🥃
