Is there a reason the base is suction as well? Other then possibly the obvious portability, and to make up for a heavy weighted base? I only ask cause I don't I give it to be the type of tool to move around much, and even if you don't want to screw it down it could always have a btm bar that just sleeves into the bench? I suppose if your already using suction you might as well
+brendonmartens I added this only as an option. If you have space on your workbench for permanent attachment, that is probably the way to go, as you say, normally you dont move it around. A base screwed to the bench would give maximum stability.

Thank you Juan or the purchase and the kind feedback. Glad you liked it and found it useful. I cannot say if any of the Festool stuff is compatible, but I doubt it. I designed these as you say, inspired by their design
+brendonmartens Thanks. It works great, but is an old industrial piece that was produced in the early 80´s. I found it dumpster diving at work a decade ago.I doubt there are any readily available pods like that one today except for the Festool one
Great plans and video. I purchased the plans and plan on making one soon but have a couple of questions. What is the wall thickness on the Aluminum pipe? Do you consider PVC pipe? Hi, In the video at 2:21 we can see an Y connection, one of the 2 hoses used to secure the device. It's Ok. Does the vacuum used to secure it stop at the same time when you release the valve to unlock the piece you work on or only the piece is unlocked ? Many thanks for the detailed plans I got yesterday !
+Olav Nikolai Skuterud Heisan.
+brendonmartens I am sure it's pennies compared to the actual system. I don't see anything he used that is too expensive, maybe the fittings but they can be had off ebay for not too much. Could use a t-nut instead of a threaded insert. Wouldn't surprise me if the tubing was the most expensive part but even that doesn't cost much. Probably depends on how much scrap wood you have.
+sanityfalling I agree, I would guess it's under $100, trying to convince a friend debating buying the festool to build this instead. I think the pump is like $1000 without the clamp?
+brendonmartens they are quick push fittings and it would depend on the tubing size, so lets say 10mm ID tubing with 12mm od(the tubing he is using looks close to this hard to tell you exactly). www.ebay.com/itm/5PCS-Tube-OD-12mm-3-8-BSP-Male-Pneumatic-Connector-Push-In-To-Connect-Fitting-/331496288822?hash=item4d2eb7f236:g:2pkAAOSwPYZU9uKa $10.54 for 5pcs. www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-Pneumatic-Male-Elbow-Connector-Air-Push-In-Fitting-Tube-OD-12MM-X-NPT-1-2-/282007016449?hash=item41a8ed9401:g:yvMAAOSwv9hW6p1G Right angle 5pcs $8.89 www.ebay.com/itm/5pc-12mm-Plastic-Pneumatic-Tee-Connector-Push-In-Quick-Fitting-Water-Hose-/311610993407?hash=item488d766aff:g:fq0AAOSwvU5XNLEf T fittings for $4.52 5pcs. I don't think he used anything else. To be honest you probably don't even need push fittings for some of the stuff hes doing, as it won't need to be disassembled. Takes 2-5 weeks from china but that's the cheapest way to get push fittings. I have a bunch I have ordered from doing 3d printing stuff.
+sanityfalling Wow did I pick some random connectors, I was just using that as a example and was in a bit of a hurry. Will depend on what you are trying to connect it to.
@@bellevuesnekkeri is there any difference in the motor constructions. Cause I see a lot of guys using old air compressor motors, but you have to run them continuously for some projects, and the last time I ran a small air compressor for 10-20 minutes straight it was ready to melt. Are fridge compressor motors any different?
@@ThisTall Yes they are able to run for very long. I once forgot mine on for 24 hrs, because they do not make any noise. It was hot, but still works. Normally the refrigerant lubes the compressor, but I have used mine for hours without any issue. And if it fails, I just go to the dump and get a new one out of an old fridge.

top tool man !!
+pieter dautzenberg Thank you Pieter
very very very good! me like it...
Thank you very very very much:)
2 thumbs up for F-tool mockery. :D
+Cactus Makeshop Thanks, glad you like it. I believe Festool has a lot of fantastic tools, but unfortunately, its waaaay out of my price range
AWESOME! Is that 1" or 3/4" ply?
Thanks Peter. it is 3/4"
Top notch!
+Frontierless Craftsman Thank you Sir
awesome 👍
Thank you Kenneth
The Best
Thank you very ,uch, glad you liked it
Hei! Meget imponert over det du gjør!
+Olav Nikolai Skuterud Heisan.
Anyone can tell me if this plans are SVG or PDF please
It is PDF
@@bellevuesnekkeri damn it lol I was gonna put it in the cnc to have it all cut very precise. But I will get them anyhow. Thank you for replying.
What would you estimate this full system cost you to build?
+brendonmartens I am sure it's pennies compared to the actual system. I don't see anything he used that is too expensive, maybe the fittings but they can be had off ebay for not too much. Could use a t-nut instead of a threaded insert. Wouldn't surprise me if the tubing was the most expensive part but even that doesn't cost much. Probably depends on how much scrap wood you have.
+sanityfalling I agree, I would guess it's under $100, trying to convince a friend debating buying the festool to build this instead. I think the pump is like $1000 without the clamp?
+sanityfalling the wood and pump would be almost free, just wondering if somehow those type of hose and fittings are suddenly big $$?
+brendonmartens they are quick push fittings and it would depend on the tubing size, so lets say 10mm ID tubing with 12mm od(the tubing he is using looks close to this hard to tell you exactly).

$10.54 for 5pcs.

Right angle 5pcs $8.89

T fittings for $4.52 5pcs.
Will depend on what you are trying to connect it to.
what the vacuum pump?
Vacuum comes from an old refrigerator compressor
Thank you!
Why the name festool?
The vacuum pod is inspired by the Festool vac sys, so for the fun of it i called it Testool with a T instead of an F
There actually isn’t that great of content on TH-cam about these pumps and which kind works best and why, as I thought there would be.
I just used an old refrigerator compressor, it works great
@@bellevuesnekkeri is there any difference in the motor constructions.
Thank you very much for this great idea.
I purchased your very good plans and build my own version of this vacuum clamping system.
The functionality is amazing and i'm using this system every day.
Here's my version: th-cam.com/video/uR5DJL0VT1o/w-d-xo.html
I placed links to your video and website in my description.
( I hope, it's ok for you)
Many thanks!
