This Xmas I’ve bought 1oz silver Britannia coins for many people. It’s an asset we should all have and when they do eventually cash the coins in, they’ll have gone up a lot in value… (approx 11% per year since I’ve been buying silver). This way I’m encouraging smart financial habits with cool gifts that can fit inside an envelope rather than wasting time wrapping gifts people don’t even want.
It makes me sad that especially at christmas that people get themselves in a huge amount of debt, then most people didnt need or want the gifts anyway.
@mrwood4557 it's always the sad fact about trying to look at certain way to others isn't it. the same way people buy clothes. Cars, heck even holidays of a certain class they can't afford.
I do a simpler version of the 2 day rule. I simply "sleep on it". An old adage that still works, both for buying and selling ( when it comes to the stock market and Christmas :-) ). Enjoy the socks!
Another time for shopping is late in the evening. I often go after phys/the gym on Monday evening, plenty of yellow stickers and nobody in sight. Win win.
The exercise daily thing interested me, I had something of a health scare early in the year(thankfully it turned out to be a false alarm). However at the time I challenged myself to walk at least 8 miles a day. I have been doing so every day since April, many of the things you mention earlier in the video are basically down to discipline. Now I have the confidence to discipline myself in other areas because I sent myself that fitness goal to start with and I followed through on it. Not only am I now fitter than I was I am spending less money because I am now much more disciplined in the rest of my life.
Exercise is vital. For the last 1,500+ days I have completed a daily walk: initially 30mins but this last year 50mins. Not only does this benefit my physical health but removing myself from the distractions of the laptop also enables me to leverage a different cortex to solve abstract problems.
One trick I do is set all my bills to be the 1st of the month (the day after pay day). Then on that same day, I deduct my monthly spending budget from what's left, and then save/invest the rest.
Great video! Super insightful! Glad you mentioned exercise. In my opinion, I think exercising regularly creates healthier habits & attributes such as determination and resilience, which can certainly be transferred onto other key elements of life, such as finances 💪🏽.
I really don’t understand the reading financial books, Mitch. I feel like I can get more up to date information from your videos and other similar channels without having to read hours and hours of outdated books? Please help me understand 😅
People love telling other people that they read a book. Perceived flex that they believe makes them seem intelligent. I just ask AI websites to give me a summary of a book.
Hi Mitch, trying to find book recommendations in the link but can’t find them any chance of posting them again at some point. Best regards, Paul Butler

Absolutely mental, that people get into debt. To buy gifts that end up binned. Spend what you can afford.

@@HelenMiller-i2s I will encourage you to search for SophieKathrynJones. She has been my backbone.
you know people downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions.
She appears to be a true authority in her profession with over two decades of experience
I looked her up on the internet and skimmed through her site, very professional. already sent her an inquiry hoping for a response soon

Some good points! I think the mindset to spend less, saving/invest monthly and find ways to increase your income can compound your wealth for years.

My problem is not being able to get myself to spend. I keep investing money instead of spending it. I wish I could spend more easily.
You stopped doing monthly portfolio updates
Great video, where did you get the Trade212 jacket from? Are they into merchandising now as well? 😂
