Love love love the Seven Alphas concept. It's one of the things that I've always felt made BTS stand out, that you have seven such distinct personalities, vibes, talents, and yet they work so well together. No overt clashes of egos, each an expert in their own ways that bring that knowledge to work together.
I was also so excited to see them talk about how to be a 'new type of idol'. That they're seeking a new paradyme of how to be an idol in the future, an idol group of longevity, is as you said, so very Bangtan. Their music has always been based on what they and others are experiencing in that phase of their life. Of course they'd want to try to find a way to continue that, to maintain their emotional honesty and realism in these newer phases of their lives.
But yes, as you also said, the Bangtan of our future may not look like what many are expecting. I believe we'll never see the massive long term world tours we used to, the regular album releases. I see them primarily focusing on solo stuff with occasional group activities. Jungkook said that 'when the call to gather back together came, he'd drop everything', so I'm not exactly expecting a group project right out of the gate. It wont mean they're not Bangtan, just Bangtan doing their thing on their own until it's time. I'm curious to see what they'll be like in the future, I just hope people let them be them, and do as they wish, instead of demanding or expecting things to be the same.

But think about it, if they’re making their own music, to make a commitment to write one group song for a BTS album can’t be such a stretch. Meeting to catch up as brothers and set a theme or loose perimeter for an album literally could be done over coffee. I do wonder though how it would affect the group if some decide to act. Tae has looked like he’s been auditioning for years. So many of his friends are actors. Hell any of them could try acting with reasonable expectations of success. And I can see scaled down dances if we get a limited tour, focusing on our lovers of dance to be center stage and even those not trying to break their bodies. We still have 10 years of content when we get lonely for their hungry fierce youth. I guess what I’m clinging to is yes, getting more BTS but not expecting such uniformity. I could never be disappointed getting Yoongi at his piano or Tae ripping my heart out with his blues. I would go to a concert that included more theatrics and less physicality. Yes, it makes me sad that to embrace our men, we must lose our boys. But how can we say we love them and not allow time, free from their working to please Army, to please themselves with both life and work choices. Marriage, fatherhood. Change is always scary and often sad but they asked us to trust them. They’ve never given us a reason not to.

BTS is at a level now that they can do whatever they want with music. They are at the top of their game having put years of experience into their craft and honing their skills. It might be a bit of a struggle to get all that back after military but it doesn’t have to be the same as before. They have their ARMY who love and care about them and want them to be happy with what they want to do with their lives. It is now just a ride together with ARMY discovering what else they can do with music and beyond! I’m looking forward to experiencing whatever they want to give us in the future. I’m there for the ride!

I believe we love them enough to let them grow up and become grown men. Each one is such a rare gem in such a one of a kind crown. Each one a stand alone that forms a facet of one jewel. We can walk with the men as we walked with the boys. To the end.

there is an elation whenever I see them delve into something new on their own. from albums to singles to brand endorsements to tv shows to living alone. they are spreading their wings.
it reminded me of this eagle that was rescued. they had to nurture the eagle in a lab. when the eagle was grown and healthy enough, they slowly introduced him to the wild and the day the eagle spread his wings and make the first attempt to cry, it was heartwarming and majestic. bittersweet for those who nurtured the eagle but that was what the eagle was meant to be.
BTS is like that. they are meant to grow as artists and individuals and it is absolutely majestic seeing them spread their wings.

The conclusion of the documentary put me in a nostalgic Blue Side mood for sure, grateful for yesterday but sad, too, because, well, we can't get yesterday back. But, as you so beautifully observed, BTS has done enough. What I want most for the seven is their personal well-being--physical, emotional , and spiritual--and if that takes them back on stage, into the studio, in front of cameras, or out of the limelight altogether, so be it. 💜

@@eileencritchley4630 I agree with you and disagree with you. From the perspective of continued personal growth in musical taste and performance. For example, Jimin doing more dancing in his early training style of modern dance, I can see him doing more music and dancing that incorporates that style. I can see him training other artist, making choreography for other groups, etc. I can see Jin and V accomplishing new goals with variety shows and acting. JK as a solo world renown global pop star, RM as a lyricist and writer for other musicians and possibly a politican, Suga as a writer and producer for other musicians, Jhope as a solo rapper, dancer, chereographer and singer, that man can sing very well. So yes, there is still a lot to achieve as individual artists. However, as a group, I agree with the author that they have achieved the pinnacle of success in redefining k-pop and introducing k-pop to the mainstream western world. Can they sell more records to be on par with western artists, absolutely, can they break more records, sure thing, can they make more money to build their personal bank accounts...yes. But I don't define that as the group being more successful. Those are fleeting goals that can always be broken by the next generation of artists. To me success for BTS is doing what they want to do, in the time frame they want to. No more killer tours that take a major toll on their bodies, no more giving up a personal life in order to have a musical career (relationships, marriage, children, personal travel, spending time with extended family and friends, hobbies, etc., the things average/non-celebrity people do). I don't ever see them stopping what they love to do, but I do see them taking back their lives after this next great and probably their last major worldwide tour. I hate I came to know and love BTS so late in their career, but I am glad I did get to experience their wonderful music. But as one who sacrificed my personal life for business and work, I don't wish that for anyone. Including my favorite band. They have accomplished more in 12/14 years than most people accomplish in a lifetime. I want them to move on and live their life according to their terms, not the terms of their company or the fans.

I'm grateful that I can live comfortably now because of it (not wealthy, but not poor either), but I did pay the price for it too. I hope BTS also gets to spend more time doing things other than music that they love, but I also would love to get to see them once in my lifetime in whatever form that takes. I think BTS has not just "done enough" ONLY for Asian & other non-English speaking countries but ALSO for English-speaking countries! Not only have they brought amazing music and art and been incredible role models & advocates to the entire world, but native English speakers (Americans in particular) have notoriously ignored & undervalued popular music in any other language (with only the occasional Spanish pop song sneaking through.) and BTS has blown the lid off that! Now, because of BTS, many native English speakers have discovered the joy of literally listening to the rest of the world. So, they've "done enough" for us too!

Ah this sadly is not true. There was a time when he made some good calls but now he has made the biggest blunder and most unwise choice. Firstly, bringing in Scooter Braun and then making one member more important than the others, especially Jimin. This has created so much rift among Army birthing huge solo fandom. Plus inviting criticism towards BTS who so far had pristine reputation (tactics like bundles, ads, many versions) and and hate on Jungkook.

Your reminder of their words and the endless possibilities of what the future will bring when it comes to BTS and Army made me cry again. There have been many times in the past when I wondered what kept them going because they went through a lot and had to fight so hard to be heard and respected. I came to the realization that the answer was love and gratitude for each other and for Army. They never wanted to let Army down, nor each other, nor Bang PD or just give in to the pressure, so they kept pushing forward with a strength that defied the odds. But then with the military enlistments looming ahead of them and being forced to stop due the pandemic, it gave them the chance to understand more of themselves and what they wanted, as well as figure out what that meant for them as a group. I am certain that Army was always involved, a kind of centerpiece, that their conversations and thoughts revolved around. They never want to let Army down. But it is time that Army stop expecting things from them and just enjoy what is coming on the other side of that mountain we all climbed together. I think that they will still be amazing, and I agree it will be different. I imagine it will no longer be a race to work with time restraints, but a slow cruise through the countryside where we can all just enjoy life together with no pressure and no expectations. I think the things I worry about the most for them is the people who love to start rumors about their personal lives and love interests. They are human, just like us, and deserve to be able to have that special someone to go home to, to share their days with, and their nights. That choice is theirs, and theirs alone. As close as some fans feel they are to BTS and the members as individuals, I hope that those certain types of people learn to let go and give them that respect and space they so deserve. It's ok to have a fantasy, but when a person starts thinking it is reality things can get dangerous and ugly. So I hope, for BTS's sake, that people refrain from that type of behavior and realize that when you truly love someone it also means that you have to also be willing to let them go. The other worries are from pressure of money from the business and government, I hope those entities realize that they should not be expecting BTS to continue the way they did also. Too much pressure could send them in the opposite direction, there has to be a life balance going forward. For them, and for everyone else. I expect there will be a lot of growing pains as we all learn to grow with them, but as uncomfortable as it may get, we must let BTS as a group, and individuals, take the lead and spread their wings even further as they see fit. Similar to a parent who watches their child grow, loving and supporting them along the way, we must also let BTS go and watch them grow, still loving and supporting but treating them as grown men who don't need to be told what to do, or how to live their lives. They need to learn, grow, make mistakes, dust off and get back up just like the rest of us. It won't always be sunshine and roses for them, life rarely is, but it's only through that growth, the joy, the struggle, the pain, that they will be able stay true to their passion in life. We as human beings always long for the past and 'better' times, but if you really think about it, their struggle and pain gave us our joy because it made us feel that we were not alone in our struggles. Then we, as their loyal Army, gave them the strength they needed to get through the struggles, and break down walls that allowed them to keep dreaming. Now, they have new dreams, new goals, but they may not be as we want...we should not, continue to depend on them for our own joy. We need to love ourselves, and spread our wings as well, just like they taught us. No matter what they come up with, we need to respect it and support it. That's what love really means.
Sorry, did not mean to write a short story, but it is just how I feel.

I don’t expect anything from them! I have told my friend that if they decided they want to do concerts, they could do a residency program in Vegas for 8-12 weeks. Let the world come to them rather than the guys having to live out of suitcases! Just on weekends giving them the week to do as they please! But if they don’t want to do anything for a year…I’m fine with that too ! I miss them, adore them and will be sad for me….but very happy for them! They have done enough and we should expect more! Only if thy eyes chose to give it. If they are tired and want to go into different directions…I will follow them individually!
You made me cry! 64 year old ARMY since 2017!

Most ARMY's love each member as one of our family, so it doesnt matter of Jin wants to come back and make wine, or grow strawberries, if Tae is going to be an actor or a farmer, they will still be a part or our family. I just would love to know some news about them sometimes and keep listening to the wonderfull art they have created along this years. I just want them to be happy.

If their plan is to have solo careers after 2025, with from time to time an OT7 album and tour, both them and us fans will get the best of both worlds. As with everything they have done, they will find their own way, which is what has always made them unique and awesome. They have given fans so much new music in 2022 and 2023 that I cannot help thinking we will be spoiled rotten come 2025 and in the decade that follows.

I do not think, Army cannot expect... , without expectation, there is no motivation... I don't expect them to create like a boy band, but a young men's music group that will finally be free to create, I believe they will enjoy it... And I dare say that this is what the ARMYs expect. Yes, the members have achieved a lot in the music field, but I feel their desire to express themselves freely as a group only now, I feel their potential and determination to show the world that we can please each other, they with their work and army admiration for them and their work. And I'm really looking forward to it.

My only hope for them is that the come home from the military healthy without physical or mental scares. Everything beyond that will be beautiful because it will truly be their choice.💜

Omg BTS has just begun. They are finally going to get what they deserve. Accolades and honours. Post 2025 Namjoon said BTS will be better than before and do things only BTS can do. And Jimin said each member will bring their own story post 2025 BTS and make the stage even more richer.
Namjoon with his interest in preserving country's arts and culture already contributing hugely to give BTS and S Kr so much cultural currency and clout. He will be instrumental in presenting an already vibrant local indie music scene to a wuder world audience. Plus his second solo album will soon be out any day.
Jin is already doing lots with local food and agriculture. And his album will be out after his military discharge and definitely will be fun with few trot songs. And probably feature Coldpkay too.
Yoongi is the BTS representative for bridging local mainstream entertainment industries with BTS and Army. His Suchweta is so engaging.
J Hope will be doing huge work on local street dancers and choreographers and probably form charitable organisation to help them. Plus his legendary concert will be coming soon after 2025. He may have a second solo album out too,
Jimin's second album will soon be out too. He probably has concert tour already planned. He will be the icon of the era. Without Jimin its impossible to see BTS as it is now. Like a local astrolger said during their debut time PD Bang has to look after 7 boys well especially Jimin. He has to treat Jimin as if like to a neighbour. So far PD Bang has been unwise and wrong n his estimation of Jimin.
Taehyung has huge potential and probably got a big acting gig post 2025 awaiting him. Who knows he may be in Squid Gane 2 that's about to come?
Jungkook definitely already have path laid out for him by Hybe America. Because of military service its put on pause. It's interesting to see how it will all pan out.

There were so many great moments in this one and so many spoken gems, that I pulled out my notebook to write them down. I was a bit emotional the entire time, but when Yoongi and Jungkook showed up for Jin’s military hair cut I kind of lost it. Jungkook tried to lighten the situation, but the honest emotions of Yoongi’s face got me.

Again, thank you for your thoughtful analysis. I think that they really have earned the right to produce whatever they want. The test for ARMY will be in separating the brAGMYs who are in it for bragging rights and records from the ones who enjoy the music and want to embark on this new journey with them. By now, they could stop putting out new music and just do world tours every few years and have fun with their audience, no sweat.

I've thought a lot about this episode over the past month and I've also gone back and watched the videos of their individual explorations such as J-Hope's making of Jack In the Box; Jimin's Production Diary; etc. I think I saw it strongest in JHope's because he was first but in the others as well. There was a real struggle in working with others because they lacked that telepathy they had developed with each other. JHope was visibly frustrated with dance rehearsals when he got to Chicago. Actually he admitted to being angry which seemed so odd from him.
With his 6 brothers he knew that if they messed up that he was the first they looked at and they knew he saw everything. So much was done without even having to speak to each other. But he... and all of them pushed through that and found ways to communicate Suga talked about how stressed he was preparing for his concert because he felt the need to check and double check everything. His friend and writing partner who was on his tour with him saw the struggle as well. Yoongi would finish the concert and just go to his room instead of hanging out with his friend who really wanted to be there for him.
You see it strongest when each of them are about to go on stage or do a promotion. You see it in their faces even when they don't say anything. They are looking for each other. They can feel the missing elements... but as soon as one or more of the others even just made an appearance or sat with them in the dressing room... the relief was palpable. It was heartbreaking to watch them go through that... but also rewarding as they found new strengths. It will make them better people and performers.
I also think the military experience will as well. They are forced to eat better and take better care of themselves. My family for generations has been active military... still is. Yes it changes people... but I feel with BTS they were already so dedicated to hard work, dealing with pressure, and immense responsibilities that it will hit different with them. I believe they can come out of it and still be a group. What they will find is a new balance where they can break the normal album-tour-album-tour cycle that often breaks performers and groups. They can add in time for solo endeavors and lives. They know that now.
I think they now know they CAN survive without the group... but that they are better as a group. They said it before but more as a mantra against what was coming. Now they have experienced what would be like to work that way. They are all strong enough and talented enough to work on their own. But you could see that as much as ARMY was there for each of them... and it brought them joy and relief... ARMY can't fill the void of missing family/partners/soulmates. So I agree... We shouldn't put our expectations on them. They HAVE done enough.... but I just cannot see them stopping. And I think they not only will want to do it together... they each know they enjoy it more that way.

I felt the exact same way, especially when fans dumped on Jungkooks Bam Instagram account for him to get involved in more of todays issues. Really? The dogs account?

You talked about doing this when you were reviewing the book chapters. I would find it most interesting, as I am coming up on my second Armyversary, and I missed out on so much. Thanks again!

I really hope they are not done with English speaking countries, especially the US. The prejudice and racism rampant I my country still needs a shot of their respectful goodness. Although, I understand why they don’t want to be the punching bags to be treated badly by ignorant paparazzi the way Stray Kids were treated at the met gala. I still wish Grammy dreams for them, even if they, short of JK, may have let that dream go. But I surrender to whatever they share with us with gratitude.
