Great video! I've done exactly what he's talking about. I got caught up in collecting knowledge about magic tricks and sleight of hand that I haven't put in the time and effort to actually learn. Great advice guys. Keep up the good work.
For me, it does not matter how many times someone says what I do is good. It is never, never good enough for me . . I am a perfectionist . . .I am constantly looking to improve. When people ask me if I am good or great at magic, I generally say I am okay. After performing for them, I let them make up their own mind. I find, saying I am okay or I don't know, let's them decide for themselves without giving them an idea about my skills one way or another. This way if I mess up (everyone does occasionally, you just move on like nothing happened) it softens the blow or if I do great, then it makes that more lasting in their mind. Just my opinion. :)
I can really relate to what Jason and Paul are saying, i have been a magic enthusiast for a while and after watching this i think i have become a tool collector. Reason being is that there is so much and i am over whelmed by it all which has led to me not being able to break past the initial hard work and effort to see progression. Can anyone give me any advice or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
You won't believe this, but this really got me thinking... it's time I stop practicing ONLY the sleights and really work on routines... otherwise what are you striving so much for?
Nah, a face up shift is much easier to get by with because you can use a bigger cover motion. I'm pretty sure he also did a cover pass in that video, but we're discussing classics. If Paul did that kind of cover motion face up, magicians would definitely realize it's a pass. But the first time I watched Jason's, it fooled me. The cover is very justified.
NO WAY! I haven't seen Paul's shift, but I highly doubt its the same. The only shift I have seen that equally in deceptiveness is Alex Pandreas. Send me links of Pauls shifts and stuff and maybe I'll reconsider. But from what I have seen on The Real Hustle Jason is better.
Yeah..Not THAT hard. A false overhand, a Zarrow shuffle, then a cut marked with an in jog. Honestly, not harder than a Bottom deal or a good second deal.
no. seriously. england is better. england has better bottoms and centers, although I wouldn't discuss greeks because I haven't seen wilsons. riffle culling I'll give to wilson, because I contacted both england and jason about it, and england said that he's aware only of the stevens cull, and wilson made clear that he has a hybrid of some unpublished methods and some in print. seconds, I'll say a draw. although I discuss only the heaviest moves, I'll go with wilson. riffle stacking is a draw, etc

I saw this video years ago, what an insightful discussion. I could listen to these gentlemen for hours.
"Learning the art, and the craft behind the art". Well said indeed, Mr. Wilson.
Excellent analogy Jason! Spoken by 2 masters of their craft
Hope theory11 keeps on making relevant content like this videos by R. Paul Wilson and Jason England.
Great advice from two very smart guys!
Great to see not a single dislike on the video. Inspirational stuff
Liked the interview though it would be easier to hear if the music were quieter.
how could any one think he's good enough with cards when there are guys like Jason and Paul. Not to mention Richard Turner
Link for the drunken poker? Can't find it anywhere. Also, have I mentioned Jasons Classic pass/shift? Freaking AMAZING!
this is amazing
interesting but it would be a lot easier to listen to if the dramatic background music was taken out.
I really want to see Jason England's library...

this is inspirational
I cannot find it on youtube, either. but it's out there, I've seen it on the real hustle.
the shift is great, I'll say a draw on shifts..

No way! Jason FTW!
and where is subtitles?
there is "CC" button so why don't you use new technologies?
Yes, but bottoms and centers take waaaay longer to master than culls. Well at least the culls that are in Expert at the card table.

I didn't mean the cold deck against the hendon mob.. I ment the drunken poker..
I can do all these moves, believe me, I know..
Waldorf and Statler ;)
wilson, definently. although england kicks ass too. :D
Haha, 1:00 Paul thinks he's better than Jason :P I wanna see a cheating battle :D
culls? try controling 20 cards like he did on the real hustle in the poker game.
Domagoj Skuliber once you learn it I think more cards are easier as long as a lot don’t get bunched but even then if you can. 2 and 2 it’s deceptive
I'm a tool collector
Granddads having a little chat
