A cool fact is that the fence around the statue of King George shown in the first image is actually still there today on Bowling Green in downtown Manhattan. Same fence from the 1760's. Apparently there were brass crowns adoring it when it was constructed and they were sawed off and melted down also. You can see the saw marks still.
