Absolutely - that's the most heartbreaking part of the story. 💔 A good reminder to appreciate the loved ones in your life because you just never know what might happen.
I know her mother separated them out of selfishness but in all honesty, if they weren't out of Russia at the time, the bolsheviks would have killed them.
Moms in the past: I have lost half my 8 kids to infectious disease, and now another is near death. Dear Lord, I would lay down my life, do anything, just give me something to save my child! Moms today: Vaccines have saved millions!?! They can even prevent some cancers? Meh, let’s not.”
I love that Catherine the Great had a smallpox inoculation in 1768 to prove to the rest of her court (and Russia at large) that it was safe. Her only son and heir got an inoculation, too - that's how confident she was that it would keep him safe from smallpox. She would be so frustrated with us today.
Kids don't die from these diseases today, not in the first world. Vaccines don't last anyway. We had mumps outbreaks in school every year although we were all vaccinated.

There must be alot of princes and princesses who escaped from blood thirsty French, Russian and other revolutions that we have not heard about until now that animal farm is a revolving spectacle all over the world which boasted monarchies in their past history.
Xenia's daughter, Nancy Wynkoop, donated her collection of Russian decorative arts (including a Faberge egg) to the Middlebury College Museum of Art. An interesting article on Xenia's family and the collection can be found on their website. The Steiff bear was auctioned in the 1980s. Soon thereafter Steiff licensed it and issued a limited edition. These copies occasionally come up for auction for a few hundred dollars.
Thank you so much for that information! The museum's website has a great photo of a beautiful Faberge icicle pendant from the Wynkoop collection. Once it's safer to travel, I want to head up there for a visit. I'm so glad you shared this. :)

The Leeds family is a fascinating one. Basically Billy Leeds spent his fortune in typical playboy fashion. He didn't die penniless but his fortune was much diminished. The history of his father's business partner, Daniel G. Reid, is even more interesting. I am trying to find information on his third wife, who was involved in a scandalous divorce in 1920. The Reids were eventually involved with the New York Yankees and one of the sons married Lana Turner.
Wow, that does sound fascinating! I've never looked into the Leeds business - other than seeing the many references to William Leeds, Sr. as the "Tin Plate King." Those early Hollywood connections are so much fun! Good luck with your research - if you publish a blog post, podcast, or book, come back and let me know - I'll be interested. :)

I am so happy that she eventually found happiness. So often people who go through so much end up dying young, or losing themselves to alcohol or gambling.

I still remember the full title because my brain holds onto all the useless knowledge anyone could want ("Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna"), so I Googled it. Lo and behold, Susan Lucci played "Darya Romanoff," a character based on Xenia. Christian Bale played Tsarevich Alexei! Now I really want to watch this again...
@@TheGirlintheTiara yes, that's the one! The late legendary Olivia de Haviland played the dowager Tsarina "Minnie" (I forget the dowagers real name), for which she won an Emmy. I remember that particular Emmy ceremony as well; the audience gave Ms. de Haviland a standing ovation as she went to claim her trophy.
@@wilfordfraser6347 What a great night for Olivia de Haviland! I'm so glad she got recognized. To me, she'll always be Melanie from Gone with the Wind, but I haven't seen many of her movies. I need more hours in the day! "Minnie" was Empress Maria Feodorovna, born Princess Dagmar of Denmark.
Liked this video only for "happy ending"😻
Though happy endings are not common but there's nothing more beautiful than a happy ending ❤❤🌼
Love your use of "colorful" language without going overboard with it.
This is the first video I've seen from this channel, but I'm really enjoying it so far! I'm glad to find that there are other women who are interested in history too! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one XD Also, I love your voice! So quiet and peaceful.
Thank you so much! You're definitely not the only one looking for those lesser-known women in history. I'm glad there are others out there who also want something a little different. ❤️
@@TheGirlintheTiara thanks for the reply! Have a good week! 😄
her portrait is GORGEOUS
You have such a sweet voice and with the beautiful background music its awesome 👌
Thank you so much! I'm glad I could entertain you. And I've always hated the sound of my voice, so this helps me feel much better about it! :)
@@TheGirlintheTiara im southern & in the 80's was an aspiring singer. Recording of my voice creep me out. My producer told me... there's a vast difference between the voice you hear & the voice we hear... Your voice is pleasant and sweet & the narrative is spot on! This is great for us listeners...❣❣❣
@@reazon2bangie Thank you so much! Wow, I never would have guessed that even singers don't like hearing their recordings. That makes me feel better...and in the meantime, I just recorded the audio for the next video, and I didn't hate it as much as I normally do. So your support helped! ❤️
Thank you for this brief introduction of someone important that I'm sure many of us have never heard of before now. Keep it up, pls!
You're very welcome - I'm so glad you liked it! :)
August 22nd..also my mother's birthday ❤...love these stories
Thank you love all these great history stories of Royal ! ❤️🙏🇨🇦
Love this video! I can clearly see the effort you put into your work. Surprised you don't have more followers, but I'm sure it'll change soon!
Thank you so much! I do put a lot of work into this, but mostly because I can't *not* share these stories. Fortune and glory would be nice, but I'll be here regardless. So glad you're along for the ride. :)
This is my first time hearing about Princess Xenia. Her story is fascinating. You did a really lovely job narrating. I've subscribed to your channel. I can't wait to look at all your other content! ♡
I am so happy that she eventually found happiness. So often people who go through so much end up dying young, or losing themselves to alcohol or gambling.
I love your profiles of the real lives of almost forgotten royal ladies.
princess xenia's story at the latter years of her life is so beautiful ❤️
She was very classy thank u for bringing her forth in 2024 history is amazing
I see a little blurb about Montclair, NJ... 17:13 that's where I live! There were a lot of beer and hat barons who lived in this area, and they left their stately homes to remind us of their vast wealth. How interesting!
Thanks for the charming video. I'm sure the subject would have been suitably flattered by your presentation. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much - I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
I enjoyed. And u've got a soft comforting voice. Thanks
Great video. I also have a love of royal history. Thank you. 🤗
You're very welcome! Always nice to meet another royal history lover. ❤️
What an interesting video! Thank you so much!
You're welcome - I'm so glad you liked it! :)
Did I just find my new favorite TH-cam channel?
Yes, I think I did ♡
Great job as usually!

You're very welcome - so glad you enjoyed it. :)
Your storytelling skills are impeccable 💗 I’m subscribing- can’t wait to see your channel blow up!!
You and Princess Xenia share the same birthday: August 22, 1903. Congratulations! To what do you attribute to your remarkable longevity?
Wine and whiskey. ;)
Not dying.
I was born August 22, 2003. Exactly 100 years after Xenia! We all share a birthday!
Loved this!!!
Thank you so much - I'm so glad I could entertain you! ❤️
As always - amazing research, outstanding narration! Thank you so! 🤩
You have such a soothing voice 💜
Thank you! How lovely resear hed and put together this is!
And your voice is perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed listening. 🙏
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me as I work up the confidence to make more of these videos. :)
I enjoyed this so much! She's a beauty, interesting life. Your voice is soothing as well
Hi. Princess Xenia was a beautiful woman. The pictures show her as delicate and fairy like. Even more so than Audrey Hepburn, who I always thought of before.
I love your vlogs! More on this Romanov royal affairs please!
Thank you so much - I definitely have more Romanovs on my list! ;)
Omg I loved this story of her life. I’m so happy she had a happy ending.
I'm so glad you liked it! The happy endings always make me smile. :)
Love your videos. Please make more 🙏 💛
This was interesting and the story has also a Teddy bear🐻💜
I can't resist a historical story with a stuffed animal! I'm a grown woman and I still love them. ❤️
Same ❤
My birthday is August 22! I’ve never known anyone else with that birthday, besides Debussy. It’s so lovely to share it!
These videos are actually really cool its like living in another time
My grandmother's name was Xenia my great grandmother read of a heroine during her pregnency with my grandmother,so she chose that name for my Grandmother, we have Russian and Greek in our family also ........strange.
It's a beautiful name...and what a great story about how your grandmother got that name. I love it. :)
@@TheGirlintheTiara ...Thank you,I am now 74,my Grandmother passed 20 years ago .So many of my family are passing now but I remember all the stories of family members history, My eldest son told me I should write it all down, I am still out of habit tell stories ,passing down oral history thought the old way, taught to me .My Grandparents on the other side (my mum's) once told me in old Scotland I would have been called a Bard (a teller of stories and oral history) But not everyone has a good memory so I think I had better listen and do something about it as I am at that age ,well you know. And with the crona vires, much would be lost .God bless.
@@crystalroseblue6760 Oh, I definitely agree with your eldest son that you should write down as much as you can! Or maybe make a recording, if you prefer speaking to writing. I'm sure your family would love to have the voice of a Bard to share with future generations. My grandma made folders of the family history information she had for all of us grandkids, and it was one of the best Christmas gifts I've ever gotten. She passed away in 2013, and I miss her every single day. Best of luck with your family history project! :)
@@TheGirlintheTiara Yes I think I will, these days when we are isolated it is something to keep occupied with anyway.thank you again for your encouragement.Sorry to hear of your loss ,but remember they are always there in spirit, and you will feel the warmth of their love when you need it like a warm blanket wraped around you.
@@crystalroseblue6760 That would be wonderful for your family to have to pass on. If you don't want to write it record it so they could also hear your voice. That would be a great treasure, in itself to be able to hear you.
Love this series!
Thanks so much - you just put a big smile on my face. :)
Such a wonderful story thank you .
Thank you - I'm so glad you liked it! :)
ive just found this channel and ive instantly subscribed !! i absolutely adore content like this 💞💞 thank u so much 💞💞
I've seen her painting before but I never knew she was a Princess! I've read so much about the Romanovs and never knew about Princess Xenia. She's actually badass I mean, she literally had it all. the good and the bad. and gracefully slipping out of society to live in the countryside sounds like a dream tbh lol
Random recommendation.
Absolutely fascinating. What a saddening story about Xenia's father.
Edit: I hope that the Romantic Teddy Bear is at a museum. 🐻
Btw: New Subbie 💫
Thank you so much! And yes, Alfonzo has a new home at the the Teddy Bear Art Museum in Billund, Denmark. I've never been, but I've seen people post their own photos of him there. 🧸
Normally I would be mad at the mispronunciation of the names, but her story is very interesting- so I’ll give you a thumbs up for that
I was just spellbound by this one! ✨🙏🏽
Awesome video! Does she look exactly like Karolina żembrowska to anyone else?
Lovely voice+enjoyed.Have subscribed 💚
Thank you very much - I'm so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
$30 million in 1920 = $400 million in 2021
Yeah, that's a lot of money. Then and now!
This video brought to your channel. By curiosity made me look through your channel and I liked it☺️. I like the way you tell the stories, it's very interesting. (BTW your voice is very pretty). Wish you the best❤️, I'm waiting to see your future content, see ya
Thank you very much - I'm so glad you're here. I'm working on two more vid scripts right now, so more content coming soon! :)

Hi! Greetings from Norway! You do an awesome job! Nice vlog. The music was perfect! Who is your prince charming? I am not a prince, and I still have to find my princess! I hope all is well! Stay safe, and be safe!
Thank you very much, and greetings to Norway from the state of Georgia! Good luck finding that princess - I'm sure she's out there. My prince charming would have to be my husband (even though he doesn't quite understand why I spend all my time reading about royalty). :)
