  • Now that you have learned all of the forms in the path of the moon, its time to put them together into a Kata. This is great practice for letting your forms "flow" together.

As someone with ZERO martial arts or weapons training, the sword fighting in WoT has always been hard for me to visualize. This video made it so much easier to picture Rand practicing his sword forms. Love this series of videos. Great stuff! You got a new sub 🤘🏻

@@jisoenmanmartial arts is a way of expressing yourself and discipline. Sword arts are art in and of themselves. Swords are obsolete so every kata these days is “just some silly dance” according to your logic. Stfu and stop being negative

Came here from the shout out from Who Are These Podcasts. The Boar Charges Down the Mountain absolutely rocked and was a lot better than what my mind's eye could have envisioned. Thanks bud.

This is absolutely fantastic, I'm so impressed to see all of your hard work transform into a set of functional forms! This Kata not only has the names lifted right out of the pages of WoT, but also a wholly different sense of energy in the movements associated with them that absolutely dances into this 'Wetlander' art! I can't wait to join the challenge!

I might invent a version or three of this for solo HEMA training. We don’t really do a lot of forms but I can see where doing things like that would improve coordination, stamina and the ability to change direction and go from one technique to another.

Kata are excellent training tools to learn the "shape" (which is the meaning of the word kata) of a technique. Most of the kata in real kenjutsu are shorter than this, but can be strung together. Remember that they are patterns meant to teach the rhythm of a fight, not a rigid prescription of techniques.

Do you by chance remember the description of Laman’s sword AFTER Rand puts a more functional hilt on it? I feel like that’s the one that’s a katana, not Tam’s sword.
