I'm 61 yrs old and never heard of Justin or the Darkness. I stumbled on rides again and looked up his music. Needless to say I'm now their biggest fan. The band absolutely rocks and the voice and classic Front Man vibes puts them over the top. My first concert was Queen in 1975 and hopefully my next one will be Justin. Rock on brother from a new fan. Love yer voice.
I really think that the Darkness and Queen fit in the same niche in my brain. Not exactly the same, but similar feeling and sound. Being willing to play and have fun and charismatic front men
I adore Geese! 3D Country was the most creative rock album of last year for me. They bring the best parts of classic rock without sounding like a rehash
Saw them open for King Gizz 7 times this fall and I’ve been jamming their albums none stop. 3D country is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. There is so much good rock music out there these days, just gotta find it!!
I discovered this band on accident thinking I was clicking on a Goose video. It was their tidal studio sesh and I was just blown away. 3-d country is one of the best albums I have heard in a very long time getting better and better the more you listen. They have renewed my outlook on the future of rock
Hi! In 2022, during COVID, your channel introduced me to King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard… tonight, I’m seeing them for the first time… and Geese are opening! I know nothin bout them except they are the same age that KGLW was when they started.
I've seen Geese 3x now and will see them any chance I get. For me, they're like if Bowie & Strokes & Roxy & Radiohead got put in a blender and made into a tasty smoothie. They switch gears in every song and the vocalist is truly amazing, so out at times it's in, if that makes sense. Can't say enough good things about them really. If I could get a double bill of IDLES and Geese, I'd be throw my wallet at that bill all day.
Haven’t heard of these guys but I like what I hear. Thanks for introducing me to so much great music Justin! Hope you’re enjoying your summer playing, spooky hotel rooms aside.
I love Geese (both the band and the bird). They have a soulful rock sound that reminds me of the bands my parents brought me up on. Good stuff for sure!!!
Been watching this channel for well over a year now, been listening to Geese for well over half a year now... Why youtube!? Why do you only recommend this now!
Saw geese by chance last October in the sinclair, harvard square in Boston ma ..yeah real good ..excellent musicians very good show melodic intricate rock .. fine vocalist.. I was impressed... well worth checking out...
I have a gaggle of friends who love new rock music , hopefully when they come around this neck of the woods we'll check them out, hope they don't lay an egg .
Wow. Loving this sound from this band. Love this guy's vocals. Headed right over and subscribed to their channel. Definitely keep an eye on them - they've got that spark of lasting a long time.
I liked the song better after I went and actually listened to the whole song. Thanks for the link. I will have to check out more of their music. Thanks much!
I'm fairly sure I first heard them on XPN, and then about a year ago was able to see them at a Free at Noon in Philly. GREAT live band, they are so fun and loud and the drummer is INCREDIBLE. (don't get me wrong, they are all incredible, but he was really impressive). Yes, get these guys into as many ears as possible!!
Awesome content, as always dude! Bands you NEED in your life (and to review): FUZZ (start with the self titled album), Obsessive Compulsive (Manchester Grunge/Punk)... Not forgetting The Empty Page! Zico Chain (The Devil In Your Heart album). These bands have so many good tracks that I cannot single out any one in particular. The entire Fuzz album merges into itself almost in its entirety and seamlessly. All these bands are relatively unheard of and need exposure 🙏✌️ Edit: Also Royal Republic, Awolnation and Nothing But Thieves.
I'm here to compliment you. I just watched a fan video (IBIATCL) from Paddock in the Park? 2024 from 5 months ago, and your voice is still unbelievably amazing. ❤❤❤❤ I already knew it was just from hearing you sing some on this channel, but hearing you live... was 🔥 🔥 🔥
I love Lemon Twigs and I'm digging this too, really appreciating this approach of giving props to great new stuff, which I know u have done previously too
This brings to mind old school Phantom Planet with the rawness of the vocals and the Anniversary in the arrangement - If you haven't heard Your Majesty I couldn't recommend it more.
Dude! You seem to be really enjoying life lately and are absolutely showing out in stage! Beat of wishes and Cheers from across the Pond! Do some My Morning Jacket if you get a chance, I don't ever see them get any love from reactors!!!
Not sure how far out of Canada "The Sheepdogs" have got but I get that kind of feel from these Geese. Not sure if Sheepdogs and Geese get along but they may want to try a tour.
Funny. If you described Idles, The Lemon Twigs and Geese to me, I’d say they’d probably be some of my favorite bands. Yet, for a while now, I’ve tried several times listening to their oeuvre’s (he never says it any more!) and none has grabbed me yet. I thought for sure the James Ford produced record would get me, but not even that one has made it into my regular rotation.
I’ve been wondering when you’d do an episode on Geese! I’m seeing them with King Gizzard soon. Very excited. Thanks for making this one of the more picky aparty episodes.
Bands with bird names are usually good aren't they? I had not heard of these particular bird men before, but I like them - excellent recommendation, Mr Hawkins!
These guys remind me of the Canadian band the sheepdog. You should do a take on them Justin. PS, I love everyone of your reviews. You just pump people up. Keep it up.
Love you review love your channel and love this geese record the song you reviewed really not my favorite one on the album, but I have more appreciation for it now.
I hear a Tears For Fears influence...especially in his voice at times...really sounds good❤ that beautiful piano towards the end had an early Phish sound ❤
His voice reminds me a bit of Dylan's low voice, but minus the nasel part, then his bluesy voice kinda reminds me of of a cross between SVR and Paul McCartney (in the spirit of "I've got a feeling" and "Why don't we do it in the road.") I hear some Daltrey in there too, especially when he rips into it. Great stuff!
Check out Piano Hands by Soft Launch which has a touch of Jellyfish and The Lemon Twigs about it. Josh McClory is in the band who used to be in the excellent teenage Irish RnB band The Stripes.
Saw them both nights at forest hills with KGLW... i tried... i really really tried both nights to give them a chance... but they were just not for me. at all.
When I see The Darkness play live the c-word that springs to mind is coruscating. Geese certainly are an off-the-beaten-track band to visit, with a mix of retro and indie rock, definitely a bit of The Stones gravel in the vocals. Rather than swing I think you are reaching for groove in the music. Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do is a Solfège.
God, this feels like a Zeppelin song I just can't put my finger on it... Got it, Fool in the Rain! Dahduuum da dahdah dah dah, all the love that I found! Not the lyric necessarily, but the instrumentation.
0h shit, King Gizz openers? I caught last night's livestream of their DC concert, and the KGLW set was incredible. If anybody has a chance to see this tour... why wouldn't you?!

Agreed 🙌🏽😊

I've been to a Darkness gig 2 years ago, best gig ever in my life
@@violethill_ I'd love to see them live. They seem really fun.

Enjoy, kgatlw are sublime live. I can't wait for them to be back in the UK when I am in funds. These geese folks seem damn good too!
King Giz are awesome live.
@@deetcool7267 yeah, if you can stand to be around gizz fans for more than 3 hours. what a horrible fanbase and crowd
Geese is the word!
oof.❤
Thank you so much for bringing this band to my attention, that song is great!
Great. Here comes my 4hr binge into the Spotify turntable listening to Geese.
Thanks Justin!
I was just thinking the same thing 😂
I am back your unimaginable rival, love hearing these kids doing rock n roll, real band, real music, Seems rock music is in good hands.

Wow, that’s a bunch of awesome bands, I like what I hear already but that’s just an extra push to check them out!
Young musicians today have such a deep well of recorded music to draw from, bands like this give me hope for the future of music.
Thanks, Justin. A coffee for the road?
Mr. Hawkins you rock! Much love sent your way!
the way this song ends segues so well into the next one on the album 'mysterious love' as well
You find the most interesting songs/bands. Your reviews are always spot on. Thank you for introducing me to new music.
I was randomly introduced to Geese through a shared playlist with a friend and really dug them. Cool to see them pop up on here!
Haven’t heard of these guys but I like what I hear. Thanks for introducing me to so much great music Justin! Hope you’re enjoying your summer playing, spooky hotel rooms aside.
Geese, never heard of them -they're great! Thanks Justin🤘
First time I’ve heard Geese and I liked their sound. Encouraging to hear new, interesting bands. Thanks for reviewing them!

Geese are amazing in the current parallel scene with uk post punk
Love geese, just saw them open for gizzard and they blow it away live
Reminds me of the Supertramp song Take the Long Way Home.
Thanks for all you do Justin! Cheers!
The Band comes to mind
Hair looks fabulous! 👍🏽
Great band. Listened to Low Era daily when it first dropped
I agree with you, Justin...This is nice!😉❤

Thanks Justin, another band to look out for. Love the 70’s undertone!
Thanks for this. I'll give them a listen 🎶 👌

Thanks for doing this review. Never heard of Geese and from this will become a fan. I’d describe this as a sonic smorgasbord!
Enjoy the tour!
Geeeeese! The whole album is incredible. Great songs, great players - they take something classic and make it interesting.
I liked the song better after I went and actually listened to the whole song. Thanks for the link. I will have to check out more of their music. Thanks much!
Thanks for the heads-up on this!
"Thank you" Justin ! ❤🥰
Love your insight, you've made me like another band!
I’m seeing Geese perform live tomorrow night.
Love Geese! 3D Country was one of my favourite albums last year.
Thanks so much Justin...like this song...
Geese is great!!!!
I love the song Justin!
I had never heard of them but caught their show with king gizzard a few weeks ago and it was amazing. 3D country is a masterpiece
F'ing awesome band and album.
Fooled Around And Fell In Love
I'm off to listen to their music, maybe Justin could do one of these darn video things on Car Seat Headrest. Blooming good stuff!

Hi Justin! A hugely underrated song and artist is Traces by Jacob & The Dazey Chain. I found him by pure coincidence on TH-cam and he’s great!
Get rest. Eat right. You are amazing.

My favourite album of 2023. Familiar, yet beautifully strange in so many ways. If you haven’t had the chance to listen to all of 3D Country, do it.
looked the band up thanks, got a new band, love that they don't seem to be a particular genre from verse to verse thanks for the music
Check out Piano Hands by Soft Launch which has a touch of Jellyfish and The Lemon Twigs about it. Josh McClory is in the band who used to be in the excellent teenage Irish RnB band The Stripes.
I love 3D Country. Best new band I've heard in a long while. I hear some Little Feat in Geese. I can't wait to hear what they do on album #3.
A band I'd need to check out live to get a feel for their total sound and the range.
Saw King Gizzard live in 2019. Different again!
