They're likely setting up 2 storylines, one with each protagonist: - Following Dr.Entrati and dealing with the Indifference with the Drifter. -Dealing with the Man in the Wall with the Operator.
@@wanou_4259 judging by the cinematic at the end of whispers in the wall, and Dr.Entrati's diary, they seem to be two separate entities from the void that are collaborating together now. Lotus also makes a differentiation between them, and it's the reason why she sends the Drifter to 1999 and doesn't want the Operator to go, because the man in the wall is actively trying to get the operator, while The Indiference is trying to get Dr.Entrati, and in 1999, they would be more vulnerable to him, while the Drifter isn't bound by TMITW. I believe a more accurate way of describing them, would be like the infested. All infested beings are aspects of "The Infestation" hive mind. Like Lephantis, The Prelate, The Jordas Golem, etc. In that same vein, all void entities are aspects of "The Void". Like The Man In The Wall, The Indiference, The Murmur, The Void Angels, etc.
Not gonna Lie...it should of been the Operator going to 1999. Not the Drifter.
Most likely it's cause they're adding a romancing system and they don't want you to do that with a child.
