You will really like having it around. One of the best purchases we have made.

Thanks for posting the video, how did they anchor the generator to the slab?

Setting loose. The weight of the generator holds it firmly in place. Have seen absolutely no movement. That thing is heavy.

@@StNixFarms thanks for responding I went ahead and just used lag shields to anchor it down, I was thinking the same thing about the weight being enough to hold it down. My electrician told me people will steal these things, so maybe anchoring it down will cause them one more step lol thanks again!

Yes I am planning to build a small privacy fence around mine just for that reason.

A couple of questions for you:
First….what was the logic in installing the ATS at ground level? You obviously don’t have any electrical inspections to comply with I’m just wondering if the switch height was your request or the contractors decision.
Secondly, is your propane tank a 250 or 300 gal?
The install looks like it was well done. I’m only questioning switch location because even though electrical inspection isn’t necessary, I wouldn’t be crazy about working on it at that height for safety reasons. I’ve seen switches do some interesting things over the years and just want folks to be careful.
Gas question is due to actual tank fill levels and wondering what your other gas consumers are in the house. Down on the Gulf coast our outages can be….extended

The installer was an authorized Generac installer and the field guy from Alabama power was here through most of the installation and neither questioned the height of the connections. As you may be able to see from a more recent video, I have switched to our local natural gas supplier and no longer connected to the propane tank for some of your reasons mentioned. The generator manual does not give any specifics as to height requirements and we do not have any local codes relating to that. Everything seems to be fine with the installation. The switch is actually a little higher than our power meter.
Also, the only thing in our home connected to our propane tank is a 3 brick heater in our basement. Our house is total electric.

@@StNixFarms different states certainly have different codes I was just curious given the installer kneeling to make the connection. Here in Texas nothing can be that low to the ground electrically. I’m glad you didn’t make the mistake many do and try to DIY it! You are lucky NG was easy enough to bring in too. Thanks for the update

The electrical connection to the generator is required to be flexible conduit as noted in Generac install manual, and as recommended by the NEC for all vibrating equipment......at lease they used the flex gas connection provided by Generac for the gas connection. Does anyone own a level on the electrical side, gas piping looks good and level.........perhaps being on a farm there are exceptions, but for professional looking work
plumb and level is what the eye sees for quality workmanship.

Youre not supposed to hard pipe the electric directly to the generator like that

These were authorized Generac installers so I am going to assume they knew what they were doing. Thanks for watching. This group has installed several units just in my immediate area and come highly recommended.

@StNixFarms the generator vibrates. You use liquid tite and a flex outdoor gas line. Good luck
