Very very intelligent decision to start outsourcing for some mayors to be able to breed your own stallions to diversifying. The herd is a very smart decision. Another super smart decision is letting some of the babies go to good quality homes where they’re gonna be able to show off their talent. That’s brilliant to give them a chance to be successful. Plus at the end of the day, even when the horse moves on to a new owner. It’s still your breeding program that is to credit for that horse and it will only help to get your horses and your breeding program more well known very intelligent decisions all around.
Puma is one big girl, even her head is huge. You look so tiny while you were talking standing next to her head. You can see she has something special, she is such a great addition to your program. Congratulations!

Shes a beautiful mare, and so very fast. It seems like a taller horse would have more trouble getting around the barrels, but maybe not. I bred and raised registered Paint Horses but never barrel raced.

It’s crazy how you looked from back then to now! In a good way ofc! ❤I just wanted to thank you and I ❤ you, your family, and your horses. One of my dreams is to watch to have a run with baby Flo. My mom actually bought a horse named Volume YEARS ago. I think you invited her to a pageant or something. She passed away in 2023 happily. Ok super random question for anyone what is a good age to retire a barrel horse?
It really depends on the horse. I've known some that retired in their mid teens and I've known some that ran well into their 20s. Injury, wear and tear, and mentality all play a role. Mares and stallions tend to get retired earlier or for smaller issues than geldings do.
I retired one at 16 and I've had others that I was still occasionally running at 22, and I've known many that were running at 25
It depends if they are are still sound if they can run still run it just depends on the horse. I’m riding a 21 yr paint mare and I’m starting to lope her in shows
